Very sad news today out of the sports world. Pascual Perez, who pitched in the Major Leagues for 11 seasons and played for such teams as the Montreal Expos and New York Yankees, was stabbed to death during a home invasion in the Dominican Republic. He was 55. Multiple news outlets have confirmed the death, with some speculating Perez was targeted for the $2,000 MLB pension he recently received. Perez, who also spent time with the Pirates and Braves, posted a 3.43 ERA in 1983 and made the All-Star team that season. At the time of his murder, he was receiving dialysis for liver failure. A father of five, Perez’s two brothers, Carlos and Melido, also played professional baseball.
