Our dude, Slick Rick, shows these new age rappers how to make everyday mundane topics interesting on the song, “Need Some Bad.” Boasting production from the legendary DJ Premier, Slick Rick exercises his trademark narrative rhyme techniques throughout Premier’s updated drums lifted off “The Show.” The song turned up on Premier’s blog and can be found on the soundtrack for the Jonah Hill vehicle, “The Sitter.” What do you think about the song? The nominations for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012 have been released and once again they include some hip hop acts. Artists become eligible to be nominated 25 years after the release of their debut album. Legendary hip hop acts Eric B. & Rakim and the Beastie Boys were among the artists receiving nominations. The Beastie Boys were one of the first groups to be signed to Def Jam and Rakim is always listed by rappers as one of hip hop’s best ever MCs. Ballots will be sent out to over 500 voters, who will choose the artists to be inducted into the hall this year. “The 2012 Nominees embody the broad scope of what ‘rock and roll’ means,” said Joel Peresman, President and CEO of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation. “From vocal groups to hip hop, from singer-songwriters to hard rocking artists, this group represents the spirit of what we celebrate at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.” Read the full list at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame .
