The Game Shoots Apocalyptic Video For ‘Red Nation’

‘It was crazy, man,’ rapper says of Los Angeles shoot with director Parris. By Matt Elias The Game on the set of “Red Nation” Photo: MTV News On Tuesday night, underneath the 4th Street Bridge in downtown Los Angeles, the Game stood surrounded by smoldering dirt and flashing red lights. Smoke billowed in the background and road flares flickered brightly. It wasn’t the scene of an accident, but the post-apocalyptic set for Game’s music video “Red Nation,” the lead single from his long-awaited R.E.D. Album. “We shot this real rebel scene. I was over there in a bunch of dirt with rocks, and behind the gate were a bunch of guys I couldn’t see, looking all menacing and scary and [with] bats and sticks and poles,” Game told MTV News on the set. “And that was kinda crazy, man. I was in sort of like an army fatigue thing, doing my thing. But it was fun, man, the first shot — had a lot of fun, got real sweaty ’cause I was jumping around, man. A lotta dust and smoke — it was crazy, man.” The clip is helmed by director Parris, whose recent work includes Enrique Iglesias’ “Tonight (I’m Lovin’ You)” and Diddy-Dirty Money’s “Angels.” The track features a collaboration with Lil Wayne and a familiar sample: Zombie Nation’s club classic “Kernkraft 400.” The West Coast rapper was sporting a maroon Mohawk, and while the hairdo is new, his approach to making music videos hasn’t changed. “You know what the funny thing is about the video treatment is that I just go as they tell me — I never read it,” Game said. “And just so you know, I ain’t never read a video treatment for none of my videos. I kinda just show up, I put in whatever the stylists got picked out for me, and then I go meet the director — usually for the first time — and we kind of just go with the flow.” Stay tuned to MTV News for more from our set visit with the Game, along with more details on The R.E.D. Lady Gaga’s ‘Judas’ Single To Drop On April 19

Mother Monster reveals the song’s release date in new online video post. By Jocelyn Vena Lady Gaga Photo: Kevin Mazur/WireImage The opening minute or so of the 41st installment of “Judas” video, which she co-directed with her creative director, Laurieann Gibson, Mother Monster is heard in a voice-over saying, “So that concludes Gagavision Number 41. Judas is coming. Let the cultural baptism begin.” A message is then shown that reads, “Judas April 19. If they were not who you were taught they would be, would you still believe?” The Gagavision installment also gives fans a glimpse at what life is like for Gaga, sometimes in a grainy black-and-white documentary style similar to Madonna’s “Truth or Dare.” The video is filled with behind-the-scenes footage of Gaga, getting her makeup done, getting styled to do promo (“We should just wear a classic black suit all the time or just nudity,” she remarks as she checks herself in the mirror while wearing a partially see-through black outfit) and approaching a protestor at one of her Monster Ball tour stops. The protestor, who is at the show handing out “Get Out of Hell Free” cards, chides Gaga’s because of her “pervert ways.” When she lets him know that she believes in God and even went to Catholic school, he says to her, “That’s probably most of your problem is you got raised in a screwy religion.” Later on we see the singer again in front of a mirror as she comments about the man’s seeming intolerance. “It just makes me sad that my fans have to see that,” she says. “Judas” will be the second single off Gaga’s Born This Way album, which will be released on May 11. Promotion for the record will include an a May 27 appearance on “Good Morning America” that will kick off the show’s summer concert series and the May 7 premiere of her highly anticipated HBO special, which was taped at New York’s Madison Square Garden in February.
