India’s Sania Mirza has made a winning comeback after her wedding to Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Malik, when she defeated Chan Yung-Jan with a score of 6-1 and 6-4 in the first round. The India’s tennis star player spent several months off from tennis to focus on her personal life and got wed to Malik in April. Their marriage went through a lot of controversy but no one can stop them from pursuing it. Mirza has now return to play tennis and she was able to quickly recover her rhythm on the Birmingham grass court as she swatted Chan of Taipei during their match. Shoaib Malik and Sania Mirza Got Married Today

Shoaib Malik and Sania Mirza are going to tie the knot today. The star couple has left for the nikkah venue. The Pakistani cricketer, Shoaib Malik, is wearing a black sherwani (a long coat-like garment) while the Indian tennis player Sania Mirza is wearing the same red sari which her mother had also worn on her marriage. The Mehndi ceremony would take place today while, Sangeet is scheduled on Wednesday and the reception would be held on April 15. The nikkah took place at 1:00pm today at Hotel Taj Krishna. Nikkah is the matrimonial contract between a bride and bridegroom within Islamic marriage. Nikkah is based on several conditions. When these conditions are fulfilled, a man and a woman are proclaimed as husband and wife. They can live together and carry on their marital duties. On April 5, Sania Mirza supports husband -to-be Shoaib Malik regarding the alleged marriage with Ayesha Siddique. Apparently, Ayesha is claiming that she’s married to Shoaib Malik, a former Pakistan captain. Because of this claim, Indian tennis star Sania Mirza is challenging Ayesha to come out in the public to prove her claim. Mirza said that Ayesha is just making up stories to indulge in cheap publicity and humiliate herself. Though reports said that there have been legal notice that were served, the marriage of couple Mirza and Malik would still happen on April 15. On an interview, Mirza said: No reason for the marriage to be postponed. The marriage will take place on April 15, if there is any change we will inform you. Pakistani Cricketer Malik Will Marry Indian Tennis Player Mirza

The family of the most successful woman tennis player confirmed that Sania Mirza, the Indian tennis star, will be marrying Shoaib Malik, who is a Pakistani cricketer. Malik also confirmed this in his Twitter. According to Mirza’s father, the couple will be moving to Dubai after the marriage. He also added that her daughter still plans to continue her career in tennis once she recovers fully from a wrist injury. Sania Mirza, a 24-year-old, started her tennis career in 2003. She won the 2003 Wimbeldon Championships Girl’s Doubles title, with her partner Alisa Kleybanova of Russia. She was awarded the Arjuna award by the Indian Government in 2004. However, in 2008 she received widespread criticism from Muslim religious groups. She is ranked 92 in world women’s tennis. Shoaib Malik, a 28 year-old, made his one-day international debut in 1999 against the West Indies and his Test debut in 2001 against Bangladesh. In June 2008, Malik was ranked second in the ICC ODI. He is considered as a flexible player. He has the capability of hitting big shots as well as rotating the strike with good placement. In 2010, he was given a one-year ban from the national team by PCB because he was charged of causing fight within the team. The wedding celebrations will held in both countries. The receptions are expected to be where Mirza lives which is in the Indian city of Hyderabad and also in the Pakistani city of Lahore. The wedding will be in April 2010.
