Jay Z snapped back saying that his mere presence was his activism, and even called Belafonte a “fail” in one of his tracks after the incident. Well it seems all fences have been mended, as Hov was spotted attending a chat about social justice that Belafonte hosted alongside Usher, even after suffering a minor stroke. Via PageSix : Legend Harry Belafonte, 88, participated in a Q&A on “music and social injustice” with Usher on Friday, despite having suffered a seizure a night earlier. Spies said Jay Z secretly turned up and “was backstage and spoke with Belafonte and Usher for a long time . . . Then he sat in the audience for the event.” Belafonte and Jay Z had a beef beginning in 2012 when the older entertainer said, “I think one of the great abuses of this modern time is that we should have had such high-profile artists, powerful celebrities. But they have turned their back on social responsibility. That goes for Jay Z and Beyoncé, for example.” Jay Z fired back in 2013, “This is going to sound arrogant, but my presence is charity. Just who I am. Just like Obama’s is.” He even dissed Belafonte in a song, saying, “Mr. Day-O, major fail.” But it seems the two have finally buried the hatchet.
