It’s still too soon after Green Lantern for me to embrace Ryan Reynolds as a rugged protagonist. When we erase his comic sensibilities, we’re left with a geometric jawline, bleak opals for eyes (like expensive Frosty the Snowman), and an anxious self-seriousness that Van Wilder would’ve mocked.
