Catching Fire is off to a scorching start. The wildly anticipated Hunger Games sequel brought in $25.3 million at midnight showings across the country this morning, a figure deemed “very, very strong by BoxOffice.com analyst Phil Contrino. With very positive Catching Fire reviews continuing to come in, the film’s haul surpassed the $21 million made by Man of Steel in June and the $15.6 million garnered by Iron Man 3 in May. As for the original? The Hunger Games made about $20 million during its opening early morning previews and went on to gross $152.5 in its first three days of release.
