Chris Colfer stunned the television world today via an announcement on Twitter: He will NOT be returning to Glee for the Fox show’s sixth and final season. The actor – who originated the role of gay high school student Kurt Hummel – sent the Twitterverse into chaos just a few minutes ago by writing the following: “Due to personal issues, I have been let go from the cast of GLEE. Explanations will come shortly…” Colfer has been nominated for two Emmy Awards and earned a Golden Globe win for his portrayal of this New Directions member. Glee Season 6 , meanwhile, will mark the final run of episodes for this musical comedy. It is expected to debut in early 2015. UPDATE: “We’ve been alerted that Chris Colfer’s Twitter account has been hacked. Rumors of his dismissal from Glee could not be further from the truth,” reads a statement from 20th Century Fox TV. “We love Chris and look forward to working with him again this season.”
