For shame, Chris Wallace. Appearing on The Mike Gallagher Show Friday, the Fox News anchor started to joke about the host’s weight when Gallagher cut him off. “Listen, don’t fat shame me. You do a lot of fat shaming,” Gallagher replied. “That’s the new phrase now, ‘fat shaming.’ Have you seen Kelly Clarkson? You know the singer, Kelly Clarkson? “Holy cow, did she blow up.” Wallace initially refused to engage in such commentary, but then allowed himself to make a tasteless joke in response. “Kelly Clarkson’s got a lovely voice,” Wallace noted. “She could stay off the deep dish pizza for a little while.” The original American Idol’s weight gain has been an unfortunate topic in the news lately. Some British moron named Katie Hopkins came right out and called Clarkson fat a few weeks ago, prompting an amazing response in which Kelly shrugged and replied: Whatever. She doesn’t know me. I’m awesome ! The artist then appeared opposite Ellen DeGeneres this week and offered the following take on body issues everywhere: “What hurts my feelings for people is that I’ll have a meet-and-greet after the show and a girl who’s like bigger than me will be in the meet-and-greet and be like, ‘Wow, if they think you’re big I must be so fat to them.’ “And it’s like, you’re just who you are.” A colleague of Wallace’s at Fox News colleague, meanwhile, thinks he ought to issue a mea culpa. “This ‘guy snickering’ about her weight is obnoxious.
