A verdict has been reached in the Jodi Arias cast. The 34-year old was convicted of first degree murder in May 2013 after a jury unanimously concluded that she killed her ex-boyfriend, Travis Alexander. Alexander’s corpse was found in his home’s bathroom five days after the brutal crime was committed. He had been shot in the head and stabbed 27 times, while his throat had been slit from ear to ear. Testimony in Arias’s trial started in January 2013. Four months later, after spending 18 days on the witness stand, Arias was found guilty of this heinous crime. After a Phoenix jury declared a few days later that it could not agree on whether or not to recommend the death penalty for Arias, a Superior Court judge scheduled a trial that would focus solely on the killer’s penalty. And now the verdict has come on: after deliberating for five days, the jury could not reach a unanimous decision. As a result of a hung jury, Judge Sherry Stephens is now tasked with deciding Arias’ sentence: whether she will be in prison for life or have the possibility for parole after 25 years.
