In case you somehow weren’t aware, Katy Perry’s Super Bowl performance rocked the audience’s world last night, and many are saying the pop queen turned in the best halftime show in years. But while Katy’s onstage decisions may have been inarguably on point ( Dancing sharks ! Missy Elliott!), her choice of post-game date has drawn plenty of side-eyes. Yes, that’s Katy with mega-douche ex, John Mayer. She’s also joined by the newly-trimmed down Missy Elliott, but we’ll limit our discussion to the dead weight that Katy needs to lose (the 210 pounds of D-bag to her right). Rumors that Perry and Mayer are back together have been circulating for several weeks, but this is the first photographic evidence of their reconciliation. Katy will never be the type to win any awards for her taste in men, but giving Mayer another chance is an astonishingly dumb move even for her. Of course, the fact that these two are seemingly officially back together (or at least enjoying a friends-with-benefits arrangement) raises some interesting questions about Katy’s performance. For months, Katy had been hinting that she would diss Taylor Swift at halftime, but when the big moment came, Swifty went unburned. Could it be that Mayer encouraged Katy to go easy on his ex? Or perhaps Perry decided to let her rival slide now that she’s “won” the battle for Mayer’s heart. Either way, we’re pretty sure Taylor is having the last laugh.
