As you probably know by now, the Nick Cannon-Mariah Carey separation is a “done deal,” according to sources close to the couple. There have been reports of both Nick and Mariah claiming they’ll never reconcile and we now know the couple has been living apart for several months. We’re still not entirely sure why the split took place, but it’s looking more and more as though Cannon was the one to initiate the separation, and there’s reason to believe that his family had a lot to do with his decision. In addition to the fact that Cannon’s dad blasted Mariah on Facebook recently, Radar Online reported today that Nick’s family disliked Mariah from the start and they’ve been encouraging him to leave his marriage for several years: “Nick’s family urged him to leave Mariah because she made him a miserable person,” says a source close to the couple. “They never really got close to Mariah because she made zero effort. But they were accepting of her as long as Nick was happy.” When it became clear that Nick was unsatisfied in his marriage, his father reportedly led the effort to convince Cannon to file for divorce.
