The first poster for the second installment, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug has dropped. Take a look: The poster previews the dark forest — Mirkwood — that Bilbo and the Dwarves must traverse as they continue their journey. The film stars Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen, Evangeline Lilly , Benedict Cumberbatch, Luke Evans, Christopher Lee, Hugo Weaving, Richard Armitage, Cate Blanchett, Elijah Wood, Lee Pace, Aidan Turner, Billy Connolly, and Andy Serkis. Peter Jackson directs the film, which he shot at the same time as An Unexpected Journey . The Desolation of Smaug premieres December 13.
