A giant one was recently put down in the kitchen of one Swedish family, but only after it had managed to scare the living daylights out of them and earn the nickname Putin . A Swedish family captured these photos of a 16-inch rat that initially refused to die after being caught in a trap while scurrying around their kitchen. The giant pest tried to make an escape with the metal trap still snapped around its neck, running behind Signe Bengtsson-Korsas’ kitchen cabinets, The Sun reported . It was eventually found lifeless behind their dishwasher. “It was a monster, the worst thing I have ever seen,” she told the British tabloid . “In the end we managed to find it dead, it had slowly strangled,” her husband Erik said. “Then we felt a bit sorry for it.” The family told The Sun that pest control workers showed up a few hours earlier to set up the deadly trap at their home in Solna, a suburb of Stockholm. They first discovered the rodent after it gnawed through a pipe, flooding the kitchen. They initially thought a mouse did the damage after they witnessed their pet cat Enoch standing guard in the pantry. When the gigantic rat eventually darted out startling Bengtsson-Korsas when she went to empty the trash, she and her cat ran for the hills. “We were all terrified, I thought it was going to bite my toes,” her son Justus told The Sun. The Bengtsson-Korsas’ believe the rat entered their home through a ventilation pipe, which they’ve since blocked off with a brick. Can you imagine???
