Gabby Douglas and Simone Biles helped lead the US Women’s Gymnastics team to gold victory tonight, as the “final five” out performed the rest of the Olympic contenders by a whopping 8 points. Biles in particular blazed past the competition , scoring the highest with a 15.933. Via People : The U.S. Women’s Gymnastics team entered the Rio Olympic Arena as clear favorites to win the gold. The crowd roared as they entered the arena with determined looks on their faces. So how did the favored team perform on Tuesday afternoon? Here’s a hint: Like every champion women’s gymnastics squad, they’ve now got their own nickname: The Final Five. The five gymnasts – Simone Biles, Gabby Douglas, Aly Raisman, Laurie Hernandez and Madison Kocian – showed their dominance in every category and walked away with the gold, winning by more than eight points. The Russian Federation took silver and China won bronze. After their victory, Biles shared a simple yet powerful tweet: “Dreams DO come true.” The first rotation was vault.
