In a conference in Tehran, wherein nuclear disarmament has been discussed, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has labelled the US an “atomic criminal”. He added also that the use of nuclear weapons was “haram” which means it is prohibited under Islam. He said in in his message which has been read loud in the conference that “Only the US government has committed an atomic crime.” “The world’s only atomic criminal lies and presents itself as being against nuclear weapons proliferation, while it has not taken any serious measures in this regard,” he added. The President of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said that there should be an independent body that would oversee nuclear disarmament. Iran didn’t like the review against them wherein their country has been seen as a threat for using nuclear weapon against US. He says it is clearly meant as an answer to those who fear Iran is itself trying to develop its own nuclear arsenal. He has been calling US and all countries who possessed nuclear weapons to be suspended from the UN nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency. Iran was excluded from the conference hosted by the US wherein 47 countries has been invited wherein they discussed nuclear security.
