Music artist GLC says Kanye is finish rocking Donnie’s racist MAGA Hat…FOREVER. The Chicago rapper shared the news during an appearance on The Red Pill Podcast with Van Lathan . GLC claimed Kanye had surrendered his collection of MAGA hats after an intervention a few weeks back. “[Kanye] actually gave me the boxes of the hats. He said, ‘I’m never wearing these again,’” the rapper revealed. “We had a conversation, and I explained it to him, you know, the hurt that was attached to it, and he said he’d never do it again. And that’s the word that he gave me.” Here ia the clip: Just weeks ago, Yeezy tweeted his affinity for Trump his MAGA emblem, so we don’t know how valid GLC’s claims are. One of my favorite of many things about what the Trump hat represents to me is that people can’t tell me what to do because I’m black — ye (@kanyewest) January 1, 2019 Trump all day — ye (@kanyewest) January 1, 2019 If Yeezy retires the hat, does that redeem all of the nonsense that came with him wearing it? Source: Courtesy of Ashley Stewart / AshleyStewart.com La La Anthony is taking a stab at the fashion industry again, this time, focusing on pieces for voluptuous bodies. The actress, author, and entrepreneur created her first line with then stylist, Jason Bolden called 5th and Mercer. In 2017, she partnered with Lord and Taylor for a collection that included denim, bomber jackets, and more. The line went up to a size 24, which I applauded, as it recognized she was thinking about size inclusivity within a mainstream brand. Source: Courtesy of Ashley Stewart / AshleyStewart.com Now she’s back with another collection and focused solely on the ‘big girls’. The Power actress has partnered with plus-size brand Ashley Stewart for a diverse collection that can handle all of your curves. She excitedly tells Hello Beautiful , “This collection is for all women sizes 12 to 32 and the capsule consists of dresses, jumpsuits, tops and bottoms including denim, activewear, and outerwear.” Source: Courtesy of Ashley Stewart / AshleyStewart.com The collection is full of timely and on-trend pieces. Which is a relief for plus size women who are sick of wearing florals and ruffles. Source: Courtesy of Ashley Stewart / AshleyStewart.com The pieces aren’t all glam, Anthony admits that her “go-to” outfit is, “Sweats and sneakers. I love getting to play dress up and being glammed out, but I’m a tomboy at heart.” Source: Courtesy of Ashley Stewart / AshleyStewart.com You’ll see her tomboy nature reflected through the collection with sexy joggers and crop top sweaters with mesh. It’s no surprise that the glam athleisure pieces are her favorite parts of the collection. She reveals, “My favorites are the colorblock hoodie ($74.00, AshleyStewart.com ) and side stripe jogger ($64.00, AshleyStewart.com ), the black sherpa jacket ($120.00, AshleyStewart.com ), and the destructed hoodie dress with chainmail ($108.00, AshleyStewart.com ).” It might seem surprising to see Anthony at the helm of a collection for plus size women. Earlier this year, Amber Rose partnered with Simply Be on a collection for women, but some fashion insiders felt like it missed the mark on what plus size women were truly looking for. Anthony is an advocate for the body positive movement and is proud ot associate herself with plus size women and fashion. We spoke about the movement and she explained, “It’s all about being comfortable in your skin, being confident and loving the skin you’re in. GOD made us all in his vision and we should be happy and proud with what we have and figure out ways to make clothes work for your particular body type. When you look good, you feel good!” Source: Courtesy of Ashley Stewart / AshleyStewart.com She’s done just that with an array of pieces and denim that can fit (and look good) on multiple body types. She is firm on her stance of inclusivity, stating, “We have to start seeing more images of all women of all shapes and sizes on the runways, in the magazines and in beauty campaigns. We have to change the images that we are putting out there that young girls see.” Anthony was very hands on in the creation of this collection “from concept to execution.” She applauded the “great team of designers who helped see my vision for this collection through.” However, one thing the actress is not here for, is the use of the term “fat”. She candidly explains to Hello Beautiful , “I think the word fat is equivalent to hate speech.” While some plus size women aren’t offended by the word fat , others, like Ashley Graham, who have built their entire careers off of fat women, use it in a negative light . Though she might be slim, Lala Anthony has strong opinions on the word. “We’ve taken a simple 3 letter word and turned it into something that’s used to hurt, belittle and shame women for being who they are. Women are strong but we are also sensitive in nature.” The word fat has been polarizing in the plus size community. Some consider it simply a description, it is what it is. Other’s lean into the negative connotation and prefer terms like thicc and big boned. Body positive coach, Michelle Elman, told Insider, “Fat is not a feeling, it is not an emotion and therefore it can not be felt,” in response to Ashley Graham telling People, she “sometimes feels fat.” Anthony is calling for complete erasure of the word. She tells Hello Beautiful , “The word ‘fat’ should be eliminated from our vocabulary.” While I personally disagree with Anthony’s desire for the word fat to be eliminated, I am here for her support of plus size women, the industry, and creating a fashionable, affordable, size inclusive line. Beauties, what do you think of the word? The collection? You can shop the entire Ashley Stewart x Lala Anthony collection, here and in select stores nationwide. However this time, it’s for a seemingly abusive altercation with her own daughter. According to WSB , Tommie, whose real name is Atasha Chizaah Jefferson, was taken in by Cobb County Police and charged with felony aggravated assault, simple battery, first-degree child cruelty and disruption of public schools after reportedly shoving her daughter’s head into a locker among other violent acts at Griffin Middle School in Smyrna, GA. She reportedly posted $27,000 bond on Wednesday morning and is back home awaiting her hearing now. SMH. Tommie notably has a short temper, which is likely why she’s been arrested nearly 40 times at this point. Chip Somodevilla/Getty Images U.S. Department Of Education Received Substantial Uptick In Racial Harassment Claims Here’s a shocker. The U.S. Department of Education’s civil rights division received significantly more complaints regarding racial harassment in schools in 2017, according to data the department provided for a Huffington Post report. According to the report, the increase is the largest jump in its category since 2009, with the division never receiving more than 600 complaints until the 2017 fiscal year, when the number climbed to 675, which represents a nearly 25% increase from the previous year. Prior to that year the number had ranged between 362 and 577 reports. The Office for Civil Rights (OCR) is charged with addressing complaints under Title VI, the federal law that protects students from discrimination based on race, color and national origin. Catherine Lhamon, who ran OCR during the Obama administration, said she could not speculate on the reasons for this increase, but pointed to outside data showing a surge in hate crimes nationally. “Our schools are places that encapsulate and reflect the national climate as well,” said Lhamon, who is now chair of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights. “It is distressingly unsurprising that there might be an uptick in racial harassment complaints coming to OCR.” Zoe Savitsky, deputy legal director at the Southern Poverty Law Center, pointed to the numbers as evidence that the Trump administration is creating a toxic national environment that is in turn affecting schools. In the wake of the 2016 presidential election, the Southern Poverty Law Center started surveying teachers about how the election had influenced their school’s climate. Many teachers reported seeing an increase in hateful language and attitudes toward marginalized student groups. “I am saddened but not surprised,” said Savitsky of the rise in racial harassment complaints in schools. Damned shame. All that progress made just to have Trump’s ‘Murica drag us back to the dark ages. For the parents in the comments section, have your kids had more complaints and issues since Trump’s election? Continue reading →
James Devaney/GC Images Kanye Has Taken Over Subways In New York With Yeezy Season 6 The rollout for Kanye West ‘s Yeezy Season 6 has been the opposite of traditional, and he’s continuing his guerrilla campaigning now moving to New York City for the latest hoard of publicity. Instead of going with a traditional way to present a clothing line, West has been completely infiltrating every space from social media to Times Square with images from the campaign. A lot of the collection was presented last month in ads featuring clones of his wife Kim Kardashian, with popular Instagram personalities recreating “paparazzi” shots from last December. Everyone from Paris Hilton to Jordyn Woods dressed in Yeezy Season 6 and posted the photos to their millions of followers, all as a creative marketing tactic for Ye’s newest line. On Friday, Yeezy Season 6 began its takeover of the New York subway via giant prints and wraps of those infamous Instagram posts, covering a lot more of the subway than is usually used for advertisements. Who knows the next place these prints will pop up…with Kanye, anything is possible. Continue reading →
Source: Frazer Harrison / Getty With New York Fashion Week in full swing, we’re looking for the amazing new trends—in both style and beauty—to anticipate for the upcoming season. For Brock Collection ’s Fall 2018 collection, one of the standouts was the nuanced take on the classic smokey eye paired with romantic flows of Victorian minimalism and vintage appeals. Source: Frazer Harrison / Getty Inspired by a pair of suede gloves, makeup artist Gucci Westman knew that she had to recreate the shade in the eye makeup for the show, which was a pleasant surprise given most smokey eyes are darker and more dramatic. However, this look is definitely sultry and great for a variety of skin tones. Here’s how you can recreate the brand’s look right at home: Source: Danielle James / Hello Beautiful Eyes For the suede hue, Westman used a mixture of Maybelline’s Total Temptation (Maybelline.com, $12) and The City Mini palettes (Maybelline.com, $10) on the models. To ensure that your makeup stays on, you’ll want to prep the eyes with an eyeshadow base, like NYX ’s base in the shade ‘ Skin Tone’ (ulta.com, $7). With a soft eyeshadow brush or your finger, you’ll want to gently pack the creme onto the lid, being sure to cover the entire surface without packing on a heavy base. Next, going in with the City Mini palette, you’ll slowly pack the shadow onto the lid, starting in the middle and working your way to the outer corners of the eye. Source: Danielle James / Hello Beautiful The secret to achieving this look is in finding a brown that is not too harsh nor too light, staying true to the warmness of the look. You’ll also want to slowly sweep the product above your crease line, as the look calls for almost an entirely covered smoke. Then going back in with the same color, slightly sweep it into the inner corners of your eye. To finish off the look, take a darker brown from either palette and lightly press it into the outer cut of your eyes. To line your top and bottom waterline, you can take the Maybelline Skinny Gel Pencil in ‘Sharp Brown’ (maybelline.com, $8) and loosely trace your eyes. For an added pop of smokiness, take your blending brush, and with some brown eyeshadow, lightly go over your bottom lash line. Source: Danielle James / Hello Beautiful For deeper skin tones, prep the same as above, but add a white eyeshadow as the base. This will make the brown pop even more. Skin With romanticism at the helm, the skin was light, airy, and free of distraction. Go in with your favorite foundation of choice, using a beauty blender (Sephora.com, $20) to press the product into your skin, specifically targeting dark marks and discoloration. You’ll then want to set your face with a powder, such as the Laura Mercier Translucent Powder in ‘Medium Dark’ (Sephora.com, $38), Beauty Bakerie’s Flour Setting Powder (Beautybakery.com, $24) or even Maybelline’s FitMe Loose Powder (Target.com, $6). To finish the look, add a bit of contour to the hollows of your cheeks using the lighter brown eyeshadow you used to complete your eye look.
