Karrueche, Offset, & More Watch Pyer Moss Salute Blackness At NYFW Runway Show

Source: KENA BETANCUR / Getty Celebs & Fashionistas Packed The Kings Theater in Brooklyn For Pyer Moss’ Highly-Anticipated Collection Debut Pyer Moss’s third collection runway debut reveled in the beautiful struggle of the Black Experience at New York Fashion Week. Throngs of fashionistas packed the Kings Theater in Brooklyn Sunday night for the unveiling of the third installment of Pyer Moss’ “American, Also” collection, “Sister.” The brand, headed by creative director Kerby Jean-Raymond, turned the show into an almost spiritual experience: the evening began with a rousing speech telling guests to throw off the psychological shackles of slavery and oppression and declare themselves free. Source: Dominik Bindl / Getty Then a band, clad in all white, took the stage to accompany a full gospel choir, that sang everything from Donny Hathaway’s “Little Ghetto Boy,” to Anita Baker’s “Sweet Love” to Adina Howard’s “Freak Like Me” as the models hit the catwalk. Source: Fernanda Calfat / Getty The celebration of blackness was everywhere – and especially in the clothes. All of the models were black and brown and their outfits bore touches like Sankofa bird patterns, abstract prints of black life, and satin finishes and bell-bottom designs that were reminiscent of 1970s Blaxploitation movies. One standout was a billowing canary yellow satin gown with a deep v-neckline with cape-esque sleeves and an open back detail. Source: Fernanda Calfat / Getty Pyer Moss also collaborated on some of the looks with American designers including the black-owned Sean John and Richard Phillips. The fashion show brought out the likes of Karrueche Tran and Victor Cruz, Chris Bosh and his wife, Adrienne, Offset (in a lime green suit), Saweetie accompanied by an iced out Quavo, Terrence J and a white Du-Rag clad Jidenna. Singers Justine Skye and Normani Hamilton sat front row, while ASAP Ferg mugged for the cameras and a shirtless Slick Woods and Joey Badass shared a laugh. Praise! Former NFL Player Devon Still’s Daughter Is Still Cancer-Free

Source: Gilbert Carrasquillo / Getty In a world inundated with so much bad news, this is a story that will warm your heart. Leah Still , the 8-year-old daughter of former Cincinnati Bengals player Devon Still, is STILL cancer-free for the third year in the row! Remember, back in 2014 the then-4-year-old was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma , a cancer often found in the adrenal glands that can later spread throughout the body. Her heartbroken father shared that the doctors has given a Leah a 50-50 chance to live. Thankfully, she endured, and while doctors believed they saw something suspicious in her last check-up, possibly the cancer coming back, her follow-up results found the contrary, TMZ recently reported . Devon posted the results on their YouTube channel, letting little Leah share her good news. “Guess what, guys? We got good news. Uh huh! The scans were clear. Mhm! Thank you, everybody, for praying for me.” Earlier this month, the Stills were guests on the TODAY show , reflecting on their journey with cancer and to promote his new book “Still In The Game.” Leah gave some pretty sound advice to other young people battling cancer. “I would say stay strong and it doesn’t matter what’s on the outside, it matters what’s on the inside,” she said. “And you’re not fighting this alone, ever.” Another important lesson the father-daughter duo learned was the importance of being vulnerable in front of one another—something they didn’t allow themselves to do when Leah was first diagnosed. “That’s probably one of my biggest regrets is not being more vulnerable in front of her,” Devon admitted. “I thought that I had to be strong all the time, but I didn’t know that she was experiencing the same emotions that I was going through. Watch their interview here: So inspirational. Congrats Leah! We’ve always been rooting for you. RELATED NEWS: Praise! Can’t Blame Nicki: Cardi Can’t Compete For Best New Artist At 2019 Grammys Because Of THIS

TIDAL X: Brooklyn Cardi B Not Eligible For Best New Artist At 2019 Grammys Bronx bombshell Cardi B has quite possibly had the best two years any artist on the come up has ever seen and she’s showing no signs of slowing down. Since her first chart-topping single “Bodak Yellow” broke records back in 2017, the Latina raptress has accumulated numerous accolades, married a member of the award-winning rap group, The Migos, and gave birth to her first child all while remaining on top of the Pop and Hip-Hop charts. So how come the self-proclaimed “King of New York” can’t even compete for Best New Artist at the 2019 Grammy Awards? According to Billboard,  Cardi who earned two nominations at this year’s Grammys held in February, was not eligible for nomination because of her previous nominations. The Grammys, which has adjusted the rules of Best New Artist over the years to keep up with the changing musical landscape, states that “any artist with a previous Grammy nomination as a performer” would not qualify. If Cardi B had not released an album around the time she earned her first pair of nominations for “Bodak Yellow,” she could have qualified but because she had enough music to be eligible for Best New Artist at the 2018 show and earned prior nominations, she’s disqualified from the category. Pap Nation / SplashNews.com You may remember the recent escalation in Cardi’s beef with Nicki Minaj , when she attacked Ms. Chun-Li with a stiletto at a show during NY Fashion Week, citing that Nicki talked isht about her daughter and continuously tried to “stop her bags”. Some of the Bardi gang’s pointing fingers at Onika in this scenario, which seems a little far-fetched seeing as how Nicki Minaj has never taken home a Grammy herself. What do you guys think??? Should Cardi be eligible for a Best New Artist Grammy?

Barbarians: Nicki Minaj Fans Are Celebrating Cardi B Turning Herself In To Police Like Straight Up Savages

Jackson Lee / SplashNews.com /Nancy Rivera/Bauer-Griffin/GC Images Barbz Celebrate Cardi’s Legal Troubles In case you missed it, Cardi B turned herself in to the NYPD for allegedly sending goons to beat up a bartender at a strip club. This story broke a few weeks ago. Since that moment, Cardi also got into a huge kerfuffle with Nicki Minaj at New York Fashion Week, officially jumpstarting their full-fledged feud. The war is on. Fast forward a couple of weeks later and Nicki Minaj was on her radio show putting Cardi’s strip club fight on blast. Some Cardi fans are under the belief that Nicki putting the fight on those airwaves made it hot for Cardi, thus solidifying Nicki’s supposed status as a snitch. That’s quite the far-fetched premise, but this feud knows no rationality. Nicki told no lies about Cardi B. pic.twitter.com/ED0Frwn7dd — Nicki Minaj News (@NickiReignsCom) October 1, 2018 Which means that the Barbz have their line in the sand: they’re going to happily clown Cardi’s problems. The feud is on and this is getting spicyyyyyyy. Take a look:

The Onika Effect: Tiffany Foxx Says Nicki Minaj Once Stopped Her From Being Nominated For An Award And Walking A Red Carpet [Video]

Nicki Minaj has made several enemies out of female rappers, and no one’s holding their tongue (or shoe) these days. Tiffany Foxx sat down with Ts Madison on The Queen’s Supreme Court and revealed her own personal story of the time Nicki allegedly stopped her from being nominated for an award and walking the red carpet. She said, “She doesn’t want to look like she’s hating, or being emotional or pressed, so she does just enough so it’ll make it like she supports somebody. Don’t be bitter and don’t be hating on other girls. I’m not saying this just because the masses is saying this. Nicki has definitely interrupted me being on red carpets. Times I’m suppose to be nominated — out of no where, it’s a problem. And it gets back to me that it’s affiliated with her.” Back in 2013 when Foxx aligned herself with Lil Kim in the midst of Kim’s beef with Nicki, Tiffany made it clear that she had nothing against Minaj and even praised her for being talented. My, oh my how things change.

Check it out. It’s called “Out Hear In MILAN”. Don’t front. You were boppin’ to that.

I Wore Shorts For The First Time In 10 Years And No One Died

Go here to read the rest:

….It might have been longer than ten years, to be honest. It’s been that long that I can’t even remember the last time. I became imprisoned in my body by the false standards of beauty highlighted by Western culture. My thighs have always been thick. Pencil skirts ride up on my hips and my jean shorts and pants always wear in the thigh area. Shorts never have “space” when I wear them. You know what I mean: when you see them in magazines and advertisements and the thighs don’t take up all the space. Jean shorts always look like biker shorts on me. Always. I went to New Orleans and y’all it was hot. It’s been my summer of body liberation, where I’ve decided I’m not hiding parts of my body that I don’t like and rather embracing them. It was too hot for jeans and even too hot for a skirt. My wardrobe was limited because I had only what I packed. I had some Black biker shorts. I took them out of my suitcase and put them on. I had to fight the voice in my head that said, “You’re thighs are too big to wear these shorts.” I put them on and went about my day. …and you know what? Nobody died. Nobody stared. It was about more than wearing shorts. It was about seeing myself as beautiful and challenging the world to meet me where I am at, vs the reverse. It was about all the women who enslave themselves to a mirror based on the ideals of men and society. There is a dangerous privilege within the plus size and body positive community where we praise and uplift specific bodies within our community. You can be fat, but only with a flat stomach. Thicc is only defined as hourglass. Yes to being a size 18, but you better not display any cellulite. If your arms are heavy, you are imprisoned to 3/4th’s tops. To me, this is equally dangering to the female psyche as feminism can be to Black women due to the divide. Body liberation is a process and one that I have spent the summer diligently working toward. I’m working towards being a woman made woman vs a man-made woman. And it started with shorts.
