Seriously?! White Starbucks Manager Is Suing For Discrimination For Getting Fired After The Wrongful Arrest Of Two Black Men In Philly

Source: Alex Wong / Alex Wong Former Starbucks Manager Files Discrimination Suit After Firing Shannon Phillips managed various Starbucks locations in four different states over the course of 13 years, but after being fired, she’s filed a lawsuit against the coffee chain. According to reports from The Daily Beast , the white former employee is claiming that she was the victim of racial discrimination when she was terminated in wake of the wrongful arrest of two black men at a Philadelphia store last year. “Weeks after the arrests and surrounding media coverage, [Starbucks] took steps to punish white employees who had not been involved in the arrests, but who work in and around the city of Philadelphia, in an effort to convince the community that it had properly responded to the incident,” the lawsuit states. The suit is referencing the highly publicized incident from April 2018, where Rashon Nelson and Donte Robinson ended up being cuffed and escorted out by police officers for sitting inside the Starbucks as they waited on a work associate to arrive. At the time, the company responded by re-evaluating how their employees deal with customers supported by company-wide racial bias training. Now, Phillips alleges that Starbucks was internally targeting its white employees–including her–after the mishap. According to the suit, said “discrimination” allegedly started about a month after the arrests, when Phillips was forced to suspend a “white employee (who had not had any involvement in the arrests)” for “an allegation of discriminatory conduct” which she says wasn’t true. Phillips was allegedly told in a meeting with her supervisors that the manager she was tasked with suspending had been paying non-white employees less than those who are white–but she disputed the claim, stating that store managers cannot determine salaries. Phillips ended up being fired the next day because “the situation [was] not recoverable,” claiming that the excuse was a “pre-text for race discrimination.” Shannon Phillips is seeking compensatory and punitive damages over the “embarrassment, humiliation, loss of self-esteem, mental anguish, and loss of life’s pleasures.” As for Starbucks, the company has denied these claims.

Future Accuses Alleged Baby Mama Eliza Reign Of Trying To Extort Him & Exaggerating “Broke” Claims (Exclusive)

Source: Jerritt Clark / Getty “Mask Off” Rapper & Social Media Star Locked In Bitter Court Battle Over Child Support Future has accused the Instagram star who said she gave birth to their daughter of lying about her income and trying to extort him in their child support case. The Atlanta rapper said although his alleged baby mama Eliza Reign pled poverty in her paternity and child support suit against him, she filed a financial affidavit that showed she had three bank accounts and was leasing a 2018 Range Rover. In addition, Reign posts pictures of herself flossing in luxury vehicles online and boasts about being a bail bondswoman and being a brand ambassador for a hair extension line, which contradicts her claims that she has no income, car or bank accounts , Future said in court papers obtained by BOSSIP. Future said Reign was straight up lying to the court in an “attempt to extort money” from him, the court papers state. He said that the fact that she allegedly lied at the outset of the case undermined the entire suit. He even recommended the judge to refer the case to the state attorney’s office for an investigation. Reign sued Future in August, alleging that he was the father of her baby girl, who was born in April. She said that Future has never met her daughter, but she wants the baby to have a relationship with him if he acts in the child’s best interest. Reign said Future is a high-income earner, so she asked for an increase from regular child support guidelines. She also wants him to reimburse her for her hospital bills from giving birth, her lawyer’s fees and for him to pay for the baby’s health insurance. We’ve reached out to the lawyers for both Future and Reign. Both sides are due back in court next month.

Independent Bliss: Tinashe Sets The Record Straight About Those Rumors She’s Rocking With Roc Nation

Source: OGUT/Star Max / Getty Despite Rumors, Tinashe Is Not Signed To Roc Nation Those rumors that Tinashe is signed to Roc Nation are getting squashed just as quickly as they made headlines. TMZ caught up with the singer as was leaving Craig’s in West Hollywood Thursday night, which is when they asked if it’s true she’s joining Jay-Z’s legendary label. Unfortunately for those hoping for a deal, she tells paparazzi that she’s an independent artist and still hasn’t signed anything. As the publication points out, Tinashe’s wording is very interesting here, because she seems to hint that there is an offer out for her–but she’s just not signing any deals until she puts out some music on her own first. Interesting. Even though the notion of a big signing bonus couldn’t sway her right now, the roster of artists on a label like Roc Nation sure does sweeten the deal. Tinashe makes it clear she’d be excited to work with the company that boasts artists like Rihanna sometime in the future. Maybe we’ll see a partnership between Roc Nation and Tinashe someday down the line, but for now, we’re getting a healthy helping of independent Nashe. We’re here for it.

Karrueche, Offset, & More Watch Pyer Moss Salute Blackness At NYFW Runway Show

Source: KENA BETANCUR / Getty Celebs & Fashionistas Packed The Kings Theater in Brooklyn For Pyer Moss’ Highly-Anticipated Collection Debut Pyer Moss’s third collection runway debut reveled in the beautiful struggle of the Black Experience at New York Fashion Week. Throngs of fashionistas packed the Kings Theater in Brooklyn Sunday night for the unveiling of the third installment of Pyer Moss’ “American, Also” collection, “Sister.” The brand, headed by creative director Kerby Jean-Raymond, turned the show into an almost spiritual experience: the evening began with a rousing speech telling guests to throw off the psychological shackles of slavery and oppression and declare themselves free. Source: Dominik Bindl / Getty Then a band, clad in all white, took the stage to accompany a full gospel choir, that sang everything from Donny Hathaway’s “Little Ghetto Boy,” to Anita Baker’s “Sweet Love” to Adina Howard’s “Freak Like Me” as the models hit the catwalk. Source: Fernanda Calfat / Getty The celebration of blackness was everywhere – and especially in the clothes. All of the models were black and brown and their outfits bore touches like Sankofa bird patterns, abstract prints of black life, and satin finishes and bell-bottom designs that were reminiscent of 1970s Blaxploitation movies. One standout was a billowing canary yellow satin gown with a deep v-neckline with cape-esque sleeves and an open back detail. Source: Fernanda Calfat / Getty Pyer Moss also collaborated on some of the looks with American designers including the black-owned Sean John and Richard Phillips. The fashion show brought out the likes of Karrueche Tran and Victor Cruz, Chris Bosh and his wife, Adrienne, Offset (in a lime green suit), Saweetie accompanied by an iced out Quavo, Terrence J and a white Du-Rag clad Jidenna. Singers Justine Skye and Normani Hamilton sat front row, while ASAP Ferg mugged for the cameras and a shirtless Slick Woods and Joey Badass shared a laugh. Meghan Markle: DONE With Maternity Leave! Snubbing TF Out of the Queen!

Back in May,  Meghan Markle welcomed her first child . But because she lives in a civilized nation where you can stop off for some bangers and mash without fear of some dodgy wanker blowing your bonce off, Meghan was able to take a full four months of maternity leave. She probably could’ve taken even longer if she had wanted, but the temptation to burst through the double doors of her office and strike fear into the hearts of her staff by declaring, “The Duchess is back!” was probably too powerful to resist. We kid, of course. The real reason that Meg came back is that she famously loves her work. Obviously, her philanthropic efforts are her main professional focus these days, and she’s found a way to incorporate her skills as an artist and businesswomen into her calling as a humanitarian. And so, Meghan is set to launch two exciting projects in as many weeks. The first is that is a travel initiative called Travalyst that Meghan is launching in cooperation with Prince Harry. The project is designed to help shift the travel industry toward more environmentally-friendly practices. It was likely inspired by the recent controversy over Meghan and Harry’s decision to take a private jet  to Elton John’s estate in the South of France. But hey, regardless of what prompted the move, at least it’s happening. The second project that’s got Meg’s attention these days is a line of workwear for women that will benefit her Smart Works patronage, which aims to find jobs for women who are struggling financially. All pretty great stuff. Hard to imagine that anyone could find any fault with Meg this week, right? Ha! We kid — the British tabloid press is a well-oiled controversy-generating machine, and they’ve kept their Meg-hating streak going this week by claiming that the Duchess of Sussex snubbed the Queen by not visiting Balmoral as planned last weekend. “Harry and Meghan had no plans to go to Balmoral this summer as they felt Archie was too young,” a source close to the situation tells The Sun. “It’s a bit odd, as his age didn’t stop them taking him to Ibiza for a week and then to see Elton John in France,” the insider adds. “If they want privacy or protection — which was Harry’s excuse for taking private jets — there is no more protected or private holiday destination than the Queen’s Scottish home.” The insider goes on to perpetuate the notion that Meghan is too much of a woke hippie to hang witht the rough-and-tumble Royals: “It’s all very hunting, shooting, fishing up at Balmoral, so maybe that put Meghan off,” says the source. “She has never been to Balmoral and the Queen was disappointed they’re not going.” Yes, we’re sure Meg was kept away by the pheasant hunting, and not the fact that she has a 4-month-old baby at home and 18 business ventures in the works. This has been your daily edition of Meghan Markle Literally Can Do Nothing Right In the Eyes of the British Tabloid Press . Kylie Rae Harris Dies in Car Crash; Country Singer Was 30

Tragic news out of the world of country music. Kylie Rae Harris, a popular artist in this industry, died from injuries she sustained in a car accident on Wednesday, September 4. She was 30 years old. The fatal crash took place in New Mexic, with Taos county dispatch confirming to E! News and other outlets that the incident occurred on State road 522 and that there was two fatalities:  A 16-year-old girl and 30-year-old woman. The awful news was subsequently confirmed by Harris’ publicist, who issued the following statement: We are heartbroken to confirm that Kylie Rae Harris passed away in a car accident last night. We have no further details to share, and ask for privacy for her family at this time. Everyone that knew Kylie knew how much she loved her family and, beyond that, how much she loved music. The best tribute to her unmatched enthusiasm for both is to spread as much love as you can today, and listen to music that fully inspires you. The singer, who leaves behind a six-year old daughter, actially Tweeted shortly before she  died that she was low on gas at one point during her journey. “Fuel range is 46 miles and I’m 36 from the nearest gas station. Dear baby Jesus please don’t let me get stranded in NM,” she wrote. Her Instagram Story echoed a similar sentiment: “Current Sitch: Iffy.” A boomerang video showed she had “low fuel range,” with the red needle almost past empty. In another series of social media videos, the late artist explained why she was making this trek in the first place. She emotionally remember sitting in the backseat as a child as her dad, who’s now deceased, drove her down the very same road on which she ended up passing away. “Alright, I look a mess,” she said, adding: “It’s ’cause I’ve been crying! It’s okay though. It’s a good cry. “I just got to Taos, New Mexico, and I’m playing this festival here called the Big Barn Dance. I love this festival.” “But for those of you who don’t know,” she continued… “I spent the last 20 years of my life coming to Taos with my dad and my sister. “My grandparents lived here, my uncle still lives here. But basically, literally everybody that was here has passed away, except for my uncle, and including my dad.” Pretty eerie, huh? Harris released her self-titled EP in March. She previously told Billboard that the track “Twenty Years From Now” was inspired by her daughter, Corbie. “It scared me thinking that it was totally possible I could be gone before my daughter reaches that point,” she said this spring. “I want to meet my kid’s kids. Getting to the age your parents were when you were a child brings a whole lot of perspective.” Country star Maren Morris paid tribute to the Harris shortly after learning she had died, writing on her Instagram Story: Damn. I just heard the news and I’m in shock. @kylierh, you have always been so sweet and supportive of me. Your soulful voice and Texas beauty was always jaw-dropping, even when we were teenagers at the Larry Joe Taylor festival. Thinking of your family and your precious baby girl right now. Rest In Peace. Just such awful news all around. We send our condolences to the friends, family members and loved ones of Kylie Rae Harris. May she rest in peace.
