Source: GMVozd / Getty With the holidays approaching, it’s a good time to get the spirit of gratitude flowing in your life.  And there’s nothing like music to put you in a thankful mood and appreciative mood.   There’s so much malice going on in the world right now that words like “gratitude” and “joy” are fading from our vocabularies. When it comes to linguistics, we’re slacking as a nation. Fear-driven words like “shooting” and “disease” have taken over our psyche.   If you didn’t think that words had power, guess again. According to an article on Goop.com , “Words have power. Their meaning crystallizes perceptions that shape our beliefs, drive our behavior, and ultimately, create our world. Their power arises from our emotional responses when we read, speak, or hear them. Just say the word “fire” while barbequing, or in the workplace, or in a crowded theater, and you’ll get three completely different but powerful emotional and energetic reactions.” That may explain why certain songs can totally shift your vibration from low to high. You ever notice that even if you listen to a holiday song in July, it starts to feels like Christmas. Or you can listen to your favorite song and it instantly takes you back to the moment you first heard it or fell in love with it? That’s the power of music. That’s the power of sound. Halloween may have the dopest movies, and you can listen to anything on your birthday — but Christmas is pretty much the only holiday to have it’s own category in music.  Oh but that stops now. In honor of Turkey Day, we put together a list of hip hop tracks that will surely get you in the mood to give thanks.  Enjoy the sounds of these inspiring tunes that will help you feel grateful for all that you have this year.

He can’t really pour juice. He can get dressed, but we have to help him sometimes. Basically we have to help him do almost everything. He can walk around and stuff like that. And again, it’s early stages,” she said of his Alzheimer’s diagnosis. Text “RICKEY” to 71007 to join the Rickey Smiley Morning Show mobile club for exclusive news. We had to run and put it out. It was really crazy.” Continuing, “Here’s the thing – we feel and know that he has an early case of Alzheimer’s. The doctors won’t really diagnose him with it, but we know that he does. They say that it seems to be an early case of it – this is what they’re saying. But he has this shaking-jitter condition that is almost the same thing as – don’t get this wrong, because then people will be like ‘oh, her dad has M.S.’ – no, he almost has the same symptoms as a person who has Multiple Sclerosis where they shake – they shake really bad. Yes. So it’s those type of symptoms. It stems from the situation.” Even though Lil Kim is grieving the loss of her dad, she took to social media to explain that the tragedy led her to heal her relationship with Trina, who also lost a parent recently. “She comforted me and it was exactly what I needed in that moment,” she said. But this show cannot stop just yet,” before continuing his performance as planned. At some point in the show, Travis put on a make-shift knee brace and went on with the rest of his performance–if you know Scott, you know how seriously he takes these concerts and giving his fans an experience to remember Of course, the comparisons to Michael Jordan’s famous flu game were all over the place. Luckily, though, he’s got some time to recover. Right now, Scott’s next performance isn’t until November 3 in Las Vegas for Day N Vegas festival, so hopefully he’s all healed by then. If not, he’ll probably find a way to make it on stage anyway.

Check out excerpts below: Solange on creating: “I feel my most sure and beautiful when I am creating the work. When I am thick in the midst of my own guidance…when I am creating I am using and speaking from other parts of myself. My gut, my legs, my heart, my fingers, my throat. That feels like the best me.” Solange on her album, When I Get Home: “I wanted to create a bit more of a world with When I Get Home. A mecca that spoke to an environment and an expression. A place that you could go sonically and visually and digitally and feel immersed in as a project about what exactly the process of home is and the feelings behind it…This album was purely about feeling.” Solange on collaborating: “I find out things about myself that I can’t necessarily speak to when I am collaborating.
