Source: Amy Sussman / Getty Issa Rae Teams Up With Atlantic Records To Launch Her New Imprint We already knew Issa Rae was killing the game when it comes to the world of TV and film, but now, even the music industry doesn’t have a chance. The Emmy-nominated writer just announced the launch of Raedio, her new imprint in partnership with Atlantic Records . The label officially launched on Friday with the release of TeaMarrr’s new single, “Kinda Love.” The visual that accompanies it–directed by Ari Lennox and Lucky Daye–features cameos from Rae along with comedian Jessie Woo. The label also is a platform to align acts with film and television projects, commercials, podcasts, and other endeavors. “Music has always been an essential part of every project I do and working with emerging talent is a personal passion,” Rae told the publication. “Raedio allows me to continue that work within the music industry and audio entertainment space. The Atlantic Records team are innovators in terms of shifting and shaping culture. I’m excited to join forces with them to discover new artists.” Raedio also provides music supervision services for HBO’s A Black Lady Sketch Show . The Raedio team is led by Issa Rae’s longtime business development executive and now President, Benoni Tagoe. Atlantic Chairman & COO Julie Greenwald said the following about their new partnership: “She’s made music a central character in her artistic evolution, and now she’s brought all that amazing passion, inspiration, and taste to the formation of Raedio. We’re thrilled to be partnering with Issa and her team on this exciting new venture, and TeaMarrr is the perfect artist to launch with.”

Kenya’s Brigid Kosgei Obliterates Women’s World Record At Chicago Marathon

Brigid Kosgei, 25, has a history of winning the annual race (like she did last year) but this year, she phenomenally put almost 7 minutes between herself and her competition. WORLD RECORD: Brigid Kosgei sets the new world record in the marathon at the 2019 @BankofAmerica #ChicagoMarathon ! pic.twitter.com/lakum2XoET — Chicago Marathon (@ChiMarathon) October 13, 2019 Brigid’s time was 2 hours 14 minutes 4 seconds and NPR reports that she beat the previous world record by 81 seconds. The previous world record time of 2:15:25 was set by Britain’s Paula Radcliffe in 2003 at the London Marathon and Radcliffe was on hand to congratulate Brigid. Source: Jamie Squire / Getty Simone Biles Lands Two Signature Moves At Gymnastics World Championships Simone Biles is continuing to rise to the top as one of the greatest gymnasts of all time. The effortless athlete competed in the world championships in Stuttgart, Germany this weekend and once again made history. She not only landed the triple-double during her floor routine, she landed the double-double dismount on the balance beam. USA Gymnastics confirmed on Twitter that the impressive feat ensures that the triple-double on the floor and the double-double on the beam will officially be named “The Biles” and the “Biles II” respectively. “My goal going into tonight was to not be great,” Biles said, reports CNN. “It wasn’t to do great, it was to do well, and I feel like I accomplished that.” Simone already has two moves named for her, one in the floor exercise and one on a vault. If Simone keeps it up she’ll become the most decorated gymnast in world championships history. As previously reported she won a record-tying sixth all-around title at the 2019 U.S. Gymnastics Championships in Kansas City, Missouri in August. She’s also on track to beat the record for most podium finishes at the world championships. We see you Simone!

The fashion crowd headed uptown to honor people and organizations making a difference in Harlem and beyond. Reality star Yandy Smith-Harris , fashion entrepreneur Misa Hylton and musician and playwright Vy Higginsen were among the honorees Sept. 15 at the Harlem Fashion Week Opening Night Charity Gala at the Museum of the City of New York.
