Source: Streeter Lecka / Getty Dion Waiters Reportedly Suffers Panic Attack After Eating THC-Infused Edible According to ESPN , NBA baller Dion Waiters suffered a panic attack on the Miami Heat charter plane after consuming a THC-infused edible . Waiters, who was MIA against the Lakers, reportedly received medical treatment when the plane landed after the flight from Los Angeles from Phoenix. Waiters has had a rough start to the season in Miami, and has yet to play in a single game this season. The Heat are reportedly frustrated with his lack of production after inking him to a huge deal. He is in the third year of his four year, $52 million deal with the Heat. He is also due $24 million through the end of his contract, though could miss a $1.2 million bonus if he misses three more games this year. This incident will make it even harder for the team to trade the veteran seeing as no team may be willing to take on all the drama surrounding the veteran player.

While the NBA is no longer as dangerous as it was during the Bad Boy era it still doesn’t bode well for the lighthearted. Two top stars got into it on the court and now their beef has spilled into social media. As spotted on Hot New Hip Hop Joel Embiid and Karl Anthony Towns haven’t had the rosiest history since the two first played against each other. Things got a little heated on Wednesday, October 30 when they faced off at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. In the middle of the game both players got tangled up by the arms that led to a shoving match. Right after they took the floor for some tussling which resulted in headlocks and missed punches. Curry will undergo tests and evaluation as a timetable has yet to be set for how long the star player will be on the shelf. ESPN reports that Curry, 31, collided with Phoenix Suns big man Aron Baynes while making a drive towards the basket. Baynes, attempting to take a charge, fell on Curry’s left hand and the pain from the injury was apparent right away. What makes this a tough injury is the Warriors are already missing Klay Thompson due to ACL surgery and talented big man Kevon Looney is also out for a few more games. The Suns beat out the Warriors 121-110, handing the California team a 1-3 record at the moment. Coach Steve Kerr addressed the media after the game stating that while the loss of Curry and Thompson are tough, the team is moving ahead in an attempt to find what pieces are in place to hopefully salvage their season. As one of the more stacked teams in the NBA, the Warriors have a cast of younger players who have been waiting in line to get more playing time and that opportunity will now present itself according to comments made by team owner Joe Lacob. — Photo: WENN

The former NBA star whose nickname is “The Worm” vehemently denies the claim, though. According to TMZ , the cops says Rodman was kicking it at the Buddha Sky Bar in Delray Beach when he “unprovokedly turned around and smacked” Jeff Soulouque, 30, on May 17. Soulouque says Rodman was apologetic, even offering up a dinner invitation. However, a trip to the hospital revealed a left corneal abrasion and Soulouque went to the cops the next day to file a report. Apparently, there’s a witness who says they saw Rodman slap Soulouque, twice. Rodman pleaded not guilty but is facing a max sentence of a year in jail if convicted. We gotta hear both sides.

After Houston Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey tweeted in support of Hong Kong protestors, he set off a flurry of debate regarding free speech and the price of going into business with an entity known for its rigidness. To explain the rift in full, back on October 4, Daryl Morey tweeted out support of the Hong Kong protestors who are combating an extradition bill and other restrictions that infringe on the civil rights of those living in the semi-autonomous region. This tweet came just ahead of the Los Angles Lakers and the Brooklyn Nets on the schedule to play in China this week. NBA commissioner Adami Silver offered not one, but two statements to satisfy China’s concerns around Morey’s tweet. Silver did say that he would not find Morey in contempt and won’t limit free speech in the league. Morey’s tweet, which has since been deleted, angered Chinese leaders to the point of upending a potential windfall of money. China’s state-run CCTV has since suspended all NBA pre-season games after issuing a statement. “We’ve noticed NBA commissioner Adam Silver’s response to the inappropriate remarks by Houston Rockets GM Morey. We are strongly unsatisfied and opposed to Adam Silver’s claim of supporting Morey’s rights of having freedom of speech,” CCTV5, a sports channel, said Tuesday on its social media page. “We think any remarks that challenge national sovereignty and social stability are outside the category of freedom of speech.” The Rockets were one of the more popular teams in China, due in part to the team drafting now-retired star Yao Ming number one overall in 2002. Yao, now the chairman of the Chinese Basketball Association, has not made any public comments about the rift despite his history with the Rockets and the NBA. The fallout from Morey’s tweet has been substantial, with community events, ticket sales getting halted, and Chinese celebrities shouting down the Rockets and the NBA in the process. The league, which enjoys a strong following due to the aforementioned Yao’s time with Houston, also has a $1.5 billion deal to stream games with the Tencent media company, with the service blacklisting Rockets games. Further, the CBA is no longer collaborating with the Houston Rockets. Despite the apologies from Silver and from Rockets superstar James Harden, China does not appear satisfied with the team’s effort for repairing the issue. Several Chinese fans were also ousted from pre-season games featuring the Washington Wizards and the Philadelphia 76ers for holding fans that read “Free Hong Kong.” Additionally, a bipartisan group of lawmakers has urged the NBA to pull out of China, including the hosting of a training facility in Xinjiang, where it is thought that around a million Chinese minorities, the Turkic Uyghurs, are being held in so-called “re-education camps.” To underscore the seriousness of things, a CNN reporter attempted to ask Rockets players James Harden and Russell Westbrook if they will continue speaking out on social issues, most especially in the light of Morey’s Hong Kong utterance.
