Ego Vs. Emo: Here’s What Lala Anthony Had To Say About #BlackMenDontCheat [Video]

Lala Anthony Talks Cheating On The Breakfast Club It’s so hard to say goodbye to Lala — well, her character Lakeisha Grant from POWER .  Even though Keisha is no longer with us , Ms. Anthony is still out here, alive, thriving, and dropping essential gems for the culture. On Tuesday, Lala stopped by The Breakfast Club and chatted it up with good friends Charlamagne Tha God , Angela Yee and DJ Envy about everything from the final season of POWER to how men and women react differently to being cheating on. “Guys are different. Guys are not as forgiving. (To Charlamagne) If your wife cheated on you that’s a whole other story. You tell her you cheated on her, you want her to forgive you, tell her to get over it.” Charlamagne Tha God even dished on his past life as a Black man who’s cheated, explaining that he hasn’t been with a woman outside of his wife in about three years — to which Lala replied: “Women are not given the same flexibility as a man. If you hear that a woman is married and that she slept around, all of a sudden, she’s a hoe, she’s a thot, etc. When a man does it’s like ‘it’s to be expected.’” The author/actress went on to dish about her steamy Power sex scenes, her hubby Carmelo Anthony’ s NBA career and much more. Do y’all agree with her thoughts on men and women cheating? Check out the full video above.

Pharrell Williams Covers ‘GQ”s First Ever New Masculinity Issue

Source: Micaiah Carter / Micaiah Carter Pharrell is once again pushing the boundaries of culture and fashion in one fell swoop. His newest magazine feature is a bold proclamation to say the least. As the face of GQ’s November edition P is attempting to change the macho narrative. Dubbed the “New Masculinity Issue” the Virginia native is pictured sporting a Moncler 1 sleeveless poncho that hangs to the floor giving the look a ball gown vibe. In the story the In My Mind author explains his stance on what the definition of being manly is. “Some of my old songs, I would never write or sing today. I get embarrassed by some of that stuff. It just took a lot of time and growth to get to that place,” he revealed. “‘Blurred Lines’ opened me up. I didn’t get it at first…lyrically,I was like, What are you talking about?… And then I realized that there are men who use that same language when taking advantage of a woman, and it doesn’t matter that that’s not my behavior. Or the way I think about things.” Skateboard also detailed his spiritual awakening over the last couple of years and how will use his celebrity voice to invoke change. “I think this is a way that I can speak up at a time where we’re in the middle of a spiritual plight” he explained. View this post on Instagram The New Masculinity @GQ A post shared by Pharrell Williams (@pharrell) on Oct 14, 2019 at 7:58am PDT He also made it clear that he supports the LGBT+ community in their crusade for equal rights and representation. “They feel like their body is not connected to their spirit. And what kind of toxic environment do we live in that they have to justify how they feel? That must feel incredibly insane.” A first for Gentleman’s Quarterly the “New Masculinity Issue” also looks across the culture at how modern masculinity is not a monolith but a beautiful, varied and ever-evolving spectrum. Comedian Jaboukie Young-White, photographer Collier Schorr, #MeToo founder and activist Tarana Burke, basketball star Kevin Love, rapper Killer Mike, comedian Hannah Gadsby, filmmaker John Waters, author Clint Smith, actor Asia Kate Dillon and more round out the Voices of New Masculinity package, a section of essays, mini profiles, and Q+As punctuated by a commissioned survey that lays down statistics of the movement. “The New Masculinity Issue” hits newsstands October 15. Touché! Tip Talks Jay-Z, Jermaine Dupri NFL Dealings… Here’s His Professional, Positively Perspicacious Assessment [Video]

T.I. Talks Jay-Z and Jermaine Dupri Working With The NFL Black folks have been side-eyeing the crap out of Jay-Z after he got in bed with the NFL for what felt like a shady (and pointless) partnership . Now, T.I. is weighing in on Hov’s decision, as well as Jermaine Dupri ‘s choice to partner with the Super Bowl when it was in Atlanta . But FIRST, in the exclusive Radio One clip the Rhythm + Flow host talks about becoming more involved with the community, saying he’s careful about categorizing himself as an activist … and here’s why: “I’m active, but I’m not an activist. I feel like an activist is more philanthropic. I’m in the for-profit biz. Activists are boots on the ground, they out doing the work, mobilizing, organizing, and sacrificing luxuries for the purpose of the greater good…” he explained. On Jay-Z and JD, he commented: “You see, at the time, my reason for not rocking with the NFL was because of how I felt they were manipulating the culture. I felt that they knew that Black dollars were important. Therefore, they came to Atlanta and I felt like they went all the wrong places and did all the wrong things to encourage the Black dollar at that moment in time. I feel like it wasn’t enough fair representation. JD was a good go, but I felt like it came after the slight — after I feel like we’d already been slighted — so, you know, he took a hard stand at it. I didn’t condemn him or criticize him for it. I told him I couldn’t participate. But, I think now that the smoke has cleared, I feel like, for me having that gripe — not being fairly or properly represented — if they go out of their way to find somebody who has an ability to fairly and properly represent the culture in Jay-Z, I can’t complain about that.” Check out the clip up top for his FULL thoughts, as he had a little bit MORE to say about JD, and let us know if you agree.

Busking is not only a way for performers to get their music and art out, but also to make money. I have no qualms with the high end brand using this creative manner to launch their latest line; however, could they have supported more artists? What would this have looked like if they had created a band for Willow, using musicians who actually busk in the London tube? That would have been a phenomenal platform for them. Personally, I always have to give a slight side eye when a high end brand uses an activity or borrows from a culture that lacks socio-economic resources to further promote their brands and sales. Busking is not something rich people do (and it’s highly doubtful you would see a musician doing this in a subway or tube station wearing Prada). If the brand was going to borrow from the musical culture, they could have shined lights on musicians doing this as well, using Willow Smith’s platform (and their own) to help amplify it. If you’re going to be culture adjacent, benefit the culture. Beauties, what do you think? Were you feeling the performance? Source: Michael Tran / Getty Regina King was a dream at the 2019 Emmy Awards, arriving in a beautiful, blue, custom Jason Wu gown. She looked gorgeous as she posed in the pleated ensemble. However, the Academy Award winner switched it up for the after party and we are dying over the lewk! Source: Michael Tran / Getty First off – let’s get into this hair and makeup. Her makeup was done by Latrice Johnson who rimmed both the top and bottom or King’s eyes with a bold green eyeliner. It really makes her eyes pop and goes with the whole monochromatic look. I like that she left us with a nude lip to allow her eyes and the outfit to star. Her hair was styled by Larry Sims who gave her the ultimate ponytail! From the front, it looks like a short bob, but when she turned around, you saw it’s actually an African inspired loose ponytail that’s wrapped in gold and left open in waves at the bottom. This ponytail is fab and using gold and fabric in hair has been trending and was even seen at the NYFW Maki Oh show . Her suit is created by Christopher John Rogers – this is a big deal for the designer who is also a CVFF Finalist. Celebs like Tracee Ellis Ross and Rihanna have recently been seen in his looks. Carl Ruiz, Former Food Network Star, Dead at 44

Awful news today out of the world of reality television and cooking: Carl Ruiz, a well-known chef who appeared on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives and more of Guy Fieri’s programs, has died in his sleep. He was 44 years old. The tragic news was confirmed on Sunday by social media personality Matt Farah, who was close to Ruiz and who announced that his friend passed away on Saturday night from a heart attack. “I’m heartbroken that my friend chef Carl Ruiz is gone,” Fieri tweeted after the news went public. He added: “I have no words to describe what a great friend he was to me and my family. His ability to make me laugh and smile under any circumstances was only outshined by his talent as a chef. “Over the years, I’ve met a lot of great people but a friend like Carl is one in a hundred million. Carl ’The Cuban’ Ruiz will forever live on in my heart and in those of all who loved him.” Ruiz’s family restaurant — Marie’s Italian Specialties in Chatham Township, New Jersey — was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives twice over the past few years. Carl was later hired to appear on Fieri’s shows Guy’s Grocery Games and Guy’s Ranch Kitchen. The two chefs became very close as a result. In June, Ruiz opened the restaurant La Cubana in New York City, from whose Instagram account there was posted a tribute earlier today. “On behalf of the La Cubana family, with heavy hearts, we are deeply saddened to share the passing of our beloved Executive Chef Carl Ruiz,” the post read. It continued as follows: “No words can fully express our sadness at the sudden loss of our dear friend and brother. “Beyond his immense culinary talent, Carl’s larger-than-life personality never failed to entertain, enlighten, and uplift every person he encountered along his #Ruizing adventures. His fierce intellect and infectious humor knew no bounds. “He was a mighty force of down home Cuban cuisine, and lived life to the fullest, just as he cooked—with ‘dancing always’ as the most important ingredient.” This is how that in memoriam message concluded: Here at La Cubana, Carl paid proud tribute to his Cuban roots each night, and it is here that Carl’s legacy, undeniable spirit and passion for his culture will live on. We hope we make you proud, Carlito. To honor the work you loved so much Chef, La Cubana will continue your work in establishing The Carl Ruiz Scholarship Foundation for aspiring chefs. We love you! You are already missed. Rest easy. And here is how Guys Grocery Games and Guy’s Ranch Kitchen star Eric Greenspan saluted his late pal: “RIP Carl Ruiz,” Eric Greenspan wrote on Instagram, adding: “You hear it a lot, but never could it be more true. The world is significantly worse without you. Heaven doesnt know what just hit it.” Fellow Food Network star Alex Guarnaschelli tweeted: “This man was somehow fatherly, comforting, wise, reckless, brilliant, wickedly funny & unique all in 1. My life will be lonelier without him. Love you Carl. “I’ll make sure no one puts pineapple on pizza best I can without you here. #rip @carlruiz.” “Remember how Carl would sometimes say, ‘That’s it I’m leaving Twitter forever’? Then he would be back on 2 hours later with an update: a hotdog from somewhere special & a cackle of glee?” she added. “Carl was a great cook & shared every moment of his life with us & I already miss it. #rip” May he rest in peace.
