Source: Netflix / Netflix Rhythm + Flow: The Aftershow Explores The First Four Episodes Earlier this week, Netflix released the first four episodes of Rhythm + Flow , their new reality series that takes on talent competition shows in the hip-hop realm. Cardi B , Chance The Rapper , and T.I. serve as judges as they take trips to their respective hometowns, watching a number of rappers perform for a chance to advance in the competition and, just like American Idol, make it to Hollywood. Now, we get Rhythm + Flow: The Aftershow . Hosted by Scottie Beam, we’re given some analysis on the first few episodes from a panel of hip-hop experts including Twista, journalist Ivie Ani, and DJ Hed. New episodes of Rhythm + Flow drop on Wednesday, Oct 16. Until then, check out the aftershow down below to get even more insight into the episodes that already went down.
T.I. Talks Jay-Z and Jermaine Dupri Working With The NFL Black folks have been side-eyeing the crap out of Jay-Z after he got in bed with the NFL for what felt like a shady (and pointless) partnership . Now, T.I. is weighing in on Hov’s decision, as well as Jermaine Dupri ‘s choice to partner with the Super Bowl when it was in Atlanta . But FIRST, in the exclusive Radio One clip the Rhythm + Flow host talks about becoming more involved with the community, saying he’s careful about categorizing himself as an activist … and here’s why: “I’m active, but I’m not an activist. I feel like an activist is more philanthropic. I’m in the for-profit biz. Activists are boots on the ground, they out doing the work, mobilizing, organizing, and sacrificing luxuries for the purpose of the greater good…” he explained. On Jay-Z and JD, he commented: “You see, at the time, my reason for not rocking with the NFL was because of how I felt they were manipulating the culture. I felt that they knew that Black dollars were important. Therefore, they came to Atlanta and I felt like they went all the wrong places and did all the wrong things to encourage the Black dollar at that moment in time. I feel like it wasn’t enough fair representation. JD was a good go, but I felt like it came after the slight — after I feel like we’d already been slighted — so, you know, he took a hard stand at it. I didn’t condemn him or criticize him for it. I told him I couldn’t participate. But, I think now that the smoke has cleared, I feel like, for me having that gripe — not being fairly or properly represented — if they go out of their way to find somebody who has an ability to fairly and properly represent the culture in Jay-Z, I can’t complain about that.” Check out the clip up top for his FULL thoughts, as he had a little bit MORE to say about JD, and let us know if you agree.

Lost friends, money, opportunities, and even some of the little bit of sanity I thought I had . However, this journey taught me to be more understanding, observant, forgiving, and most importantly PATIENT . There were times I felt so alone and would look down at my belly and immediately cheer up, knowing she’s hanging in there with me through all of the stress and drama. She’s truly been my protection and kept me strong and going. There were moments I began to doubt myself, but my spirit wouldn’t stay down, thanks to my beautiful little girl. Her annoying kicks would always be the reassurance I needed to make it through the tough days. Knowing what I know now and after looking back on my experience, I can confidently say she was well worth all the chaos. From the moment I decided to keep her, I promised myself and God that I’d show her unconditional love and teach her to be 3x the woman I am. And that’s a promise that will never be broken. Source: John W. Ferguson / Getty After wesley snipes expressed worries about the “new jack city” sequel in the works, Ice-T is now giving his thoughts. The actor and rapper spoke with HipHopDX on the topic, considering he starred in the 1991 movie along with Snipes. When asked about his opinion on the movie, Ice-T said he’s not involved in the project and explained: “I don’t know if they’re going to be able to pull it off for a couple of reasons. One is Wesley’s performance. It’s going to be hard to match Nino Brown. I mean, Wesley did a legendary performance to where people are actually calling themselves Nino Brown. He really did it, a fictional character. Two, I think that movie had a lot to do with timing.” He continued: “It was about the crack era during the crack era. All the music was current — from the New Jack Swing music and the stuff Teddy Riley was doing. It was based on an actual operation out of San Francisco Felix Mitchell had going, where people were getting high in a building and never leaving. So, that was real, The Carter was based on something that was real. So right now, you’re in an opioid epidemic, but I just don’t know how they could flip it.” Ice-T went on to say that he didn’t want another remake mishap like the recent remake of “Superfly”. “I mean, they tried to remake ‘Superfly’ and that sucked,” Ice-T said. “I mean, it was a valid attempt, but you can’t make a movie that’s just a big music video.” When asked if he’d be in the sequel to “New Jack City”, Ice-T said: “I definitely would want to read the script. I wouldn’t want to mess with it. Even though that was my first movie, that’s still one of my best movies that people talk about, so I wouldn’t want to destroy that legacy. I think they’d been better just doing another movie, not having it to do with ‘New Jack City’ ; just do a new movie. I don’t think you can remake ‘New Jack’. I don’t think you can remake ‘Scarface’. I don’t think you need to remake ‘ The Godfather’; certain movies like that, leave them alone, you know?” There you have it. Ice-T seems to join Snipes, who said: “I think some things should be left alone…if it worked at the time under the circumstances. And the story was built around things that are current. I don’t particularly like the idea of recreating the drug culture. For what? […] I don’t know. They actually talked to me about doing it and I told them no. If I had a dime for every time I’ve said no. It’s a done deal, it’s a wrap.” A release date has yet to be announced for the “New Jack City” sequel since it’s still in the works with actor and filmmaker Malcolm M. Mays writing the script. There is no director attached yet. Source: Mondadori Portfolio / Getty Rihanna Speaks On Trump’s Racism While Dealing With Mass Shootings Rihanna is killing every magazine cover in sight, and today, the mogul revealed that she’s on the cover of Vogue’s November issue–wearing her very own Fenty designs, nonetheless! In the issue, which hits stands on October 16, Rih talks about everything from fashion to politics, including some choice words she has for y’alls lil president. When asked about her reactions to the recent El Paso and Dayton attacks, she said “That should never, ever be normal. And the fact that it’s classified as something different because of the color of their skin? It’s a slap in the face. It’s completely racist.” Rihanna continues, “Put an Arab man with that same weapon in that same Walmart and there is no way that Trump would sit there and address it publicly as a mental health problem. The most mentally ill human being in America right now seems to be the president.” Beyond her very on-point analysis of the f***ery being performed by Donald Chump each and every day, Rih also confirms in the interview that she did in fact turn down a Super Bowl halftime show opportunity out of support for Colin Kaepernick. “Absolutely, I couldn’t dare do that. For what? Who gains from that? Not my people. I just couldn’t be a sellout. I couldn’t be an enabler. There’s things within that organization that I do not agree with at all, and I was not about to go and be of service to them in any way.” You can read Rihanna’s Vogue cover story in full over here . The actress appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to promote the final season of Empire and share some deets on her big day, which include not having any bridesmaids. When Colbert asked if she’s been enjoying wedding planning activities like sampling cakes, she responded, “I don’t do samples. Don’t send me swatches. I told my wedding planner make it pretty, fun, make sure the food is good and a bomb deejay. No bridal party. I’m not a bridezilla. Please, I just want to say my vows in front of people I love, eat good food and have fun. That’s it!” Sounds like a perfect plan to us. The Golden Globe winner also talked about how she never imagined Empire would have had the impact it has. Now…when it comes to the Oscar-nominee’s wedding dress, she’s got that part almost ready. She’s going with Vera Wang. “Vera Wang is definitely making my dress. The wedding is 4/4/20, I leaked it,” Taraji excitedly told Access Hollywood , adding “We haven’t pinpointed the silhouette yet.” Here’s what we know: Whatever she chooses, she will look fantastic walking down the aisle. Rihanna is building an inclusive beauty and fashion empire the world has never seen before. I’m not even hyperbolizing. It’s all true with receipts to back it up. She launched the most inclusive makeup collection with 50 shades from from fair to deep cocoa before creating a lingerie line that doesn’t make women desire to be the fantasy, but rather remind them they’ve always been the fantasy, regardless of shape, size, color, or condition. As the creative director at PUMA, she increased the brand’s earnings at a net income increase of 92% for the quarter, with the company’s share price rising €200 since her role was announced, according to Billboard . Let’s not forget her Fenty Puma creeper was crowned FNAA’s 2016 Shoe of the Year . And, as of May 2019, Rih launched her luxury fashion line Fenty with LVMH (the French French luxury goods company that owns Christian Dior, Givenchy, and Louis Vuitton), becoming the first woman ever to do so. Thanks to these boss moves, sis is the wealthiest female musician in the world . Yes, musician. Which brings me to my point. As Rih Rih expands her brand grows into her very own right as a mogul, her music seems to suffer and it’s not like fans haven’t noticed. Neon zebra-print undies and perfectly pigmented lip paints can only distract us for so long. Don’t get me wrong, I own a few (read, a lot) of Fenty items between makeup and clothing , but when it comes down to it, I’m a Rihanna fan, and as a fan I’m alway going to want what I originally came for, and that’s music (followed closely by her ability to throw shade). I’m so sorry,” she said to Entertainment Tonight . https://twitter.com/musicnewsfact/status/1171771545934422021 She also refuted reports she’d be performing at the Super Bowl. “Girl, I still got an album to finish. You’re asking me about the Super Bowl, really? My fans are about to have my neck,” she finished. Hmm… this sort of statement kinda sounds like the album is far from finished. View this post on Instagram Nobody: Me: Album coming in 2019 Navy in July: A post shared by badgalriri (@badgalriri) on Jul 11, 2019 at 11:22am PDT Come to think about it, Rih’s been silent on the album front ever since speaking with Vogue in May 2018. Her Instagram doesn’t let on that she’s in the booth and no producers have spilled any beans on making any in-studio magic. So, is the album ever coming? There may be some hope yet. During the same conversation, Rihanna let on that she’d be more than willing to collaborate with alternative rap artist Lizzo , on anything. “I would collaborate with her on the lights for this interview right now, like Lizzo is so badass.” She definitely is and hopefully she can light a fire under our beloved Bajan beauty. After extensive research, this is all we got — a promise and a whole lot of makeup and undies to wait out the remaining three months. Sadly, it seems that the co-parents are talking to everyone about their issues but one another. Although most folks who look like us would prefer to not have the courts involved in their family affairs, in instances like this where financial support or rights to visitation are being denied, family court may be the best approach. SEE ALSO: Nicki Minaj Brought Joe Budden On ‘Queen Radio,’ Cursed Him Out & Cut His Mic Off & Now It’s Trending Budden and Santana have been at odds since they split last spring. According to reports, the podcast host allegedly cheated on his former fiancèe with a model. When news of the split first made headlines, the rapper appeared to make light of the breakup during a live taping of his web show. “We didn’t break up. There’s been no breakup. Now, words are important. So what does that mean? What that means is neither one of us said it’s over.,” the 38-year-old said before going on to say that they “haven’t spoken in a little while,” and that he “didn’t take it no way when she moved all her s–t out of the house.” It’s certainly unfortunate when co-parents are feuding because the strife only ends up hurting the child in the end.
