Over the weekend, the New Jersey native announced a new partnership with Olay Body, where she will serve as one of the brand’s coveted ambassadors for their “14 Day Skin Transformation” campaign. “WOW! I am feeling all types of confident for my speech at the Diversity Summit thanks to my friends at @Olay Body. Check out my stories because I’m working ALL my angles for you and I want you to join me! #OlayBodyPartner A post shared by Mj Rodriguez (@mjrodriguez7) on Oct 31, 2019 at 8:54am PDT   Mj recently told The Cut that she couldn’t believe she was chosen for such a high-profile gig. “When they called me, I screamed on the phone, because Olay is one of the leading forces in beauty. I was like ‘oh my god, am I really being considered for this, am I worthy?” Yet, she gets how important this is, adding, “As a woman, as a black or Latina or trans woman, we have to constantly give words of affirmation to ourselves. It’s just hard for us. I’m just focusing on amplifying my voice, trying to get it out there as much as possible.” Here’s what we definitely know: Mj is more than worthy. She is gorgeous, inside and out, and her embodiment as Blanca on Pose literally makes you want to be a better person. Mj is joy personified. But most importantly, campaigns like this one, with Mj at the center matters. As I’ve written before , it’s no secret that we live in a transphobic world that has tried to push trans women into the shadows and use violence and discrimination to deny them the right to exist and their womanhood. That’s got to change. And no, this Olay Body partnership will not eradicate that oppression, but as affirming representation like this campaign becomes the norm, the more transgender women can come into the light, be celebrated for the women they are and help raise awareness around the issues that they face. Visibility is the answer and this is a step in the right direction. Because remember: Like Black cis women in America, Black trans women are also beautiful, crucial to our community and contribute daily to our collective liberation. My hope is that more beauty brands get with the program because it’s been time for our trans sistas to be in the spotlight. TRIED IT: I Got A 15 Minute Laser Facial To Help With Anti-Aging And Here’s What Happened To My Skin

See the original post here:

There are levels to skincare . While some of us are just happy to wash the makeup off our face every night, others have a 12-step skincare routine . There are also others that go the distance when it comes to skincare , doing preventative measures to prevent fine lines, wrinkles, and acne, like regular facials or even laser light therapy. These skincare methods, while they work, can be very, very pricey and often require multiple visits to truly see results. Enter the world of laser facials. If you want to take your facial routine to the next level, you may want to consider a laser facial. A laser facial uses a laser to deep clean your pores, leave your skin feeling brighter, and improving the texture. After several visits, if you suffer from acne, it’s also been known to clear that up too. If you don’t have $1K to drop, you can go to Skin Laundry. Skin Laundry is working towards making fancy facials more accessible to everyday people. Skin Laundry was founded in Santa Monica, California and currently has 23 locations globally. If you are lucky to live by a Skin Laundry, you might want to consider popping in. The company is led by Dr. Adam Geyer, a board-certified dermatologist. It was founded by Yen Reis, who struggled with acne for years. They boast the Laser & Light Facial, which is 15 minutes, no downtime, and only $75.00. While all lasers are considered non surgical, not all lasers have zero downtime. Non-ablative lasers, or lasers that only use heat but don’t injure the surface of the skin, require no downtime. Ablative lasers is deemed one of the most effective cosmetic procedures for improving skin aging. The procedure users lasers to deliver an intense wavelength of light into the skin and remove the outer layers of the epidermis. This procedure can have 2-3 weeks of recovery. Upon entering the location, if feels like an airy medical spa. I signed in on the iPAD and chatted with Dr. Adam Geyer, a private practice dermatologist based in TriBeca, who is also the Medical Director of Skin Laundry. Before my appointment, I admit, I was very skeptical. I fall in the range of someone who has a good skincare routine, but I haven’t delved in the medical arena of options like fillers or laser treatments. It just seems aggressive and could aggressive really improve my skin? I held nothing back. Dr. Geyer explained the goal of Skin Laundry is “to bring light and laser treatments from the rarified offices of dermatologists to a wider audience and to do so safely and efficiently.” As mentioned earlier, laser light therapy and facials can cost up to $1K. Dr. Geyer shared, “In a dermatologists office, if something is in the $400-$500 range, it will be in the $75 to $150 range here.” They keep the costs at a minimum in several ways. One, they allow specially trained nurses to administer the procedures. Dr. Geyer explained, “at a dermatologist office, it’s the doctor who is directly performing it often, depends on what office you are going to.” Another reason is that medical offices have a higher overhead because there is more staff. Dr. Geyer explained, “We keep costs low by keeping the treatments efficient.” They keep the menu small because they “want to do a few things really well.” I kind of appreciated that there are only three treatment offerings, knowing that the staff is well trained in these arenas. Source: Danielle James / Courtesy of Danielle James I signed up for the lowest level treatment: the 15 minute laser and light therapy. Dr. Geyer reassured me, “We want customers and clients to grow within their treatments. What you would start out with today is not an aggressive treatment, nothing here is aggressive.” The fact that nothing is aggressive also keeps the costs affordable. I was still a little leery. A laser on my face? I looked around the office and saw none of the models or people with my skin tone. He shared, “You aren’t pushing the envelope where something needs to be done in a Doctors hands where energy settings are at that line between risk and benefit.” He continued, “You are doing treatments that are safe and universally safe. It’s something where yes, you will require more treatments in order to maintain and build results because we’re not an all in one approach where you’re going in for a total overhaul and having a significant recovery, but with risk.” I instantly felt a bit better about the treatment. After we spoke, I was introduced to a nurse who would be performing my treatment. Before going in, they had me wipe my face with this pad. Once laying on the table, the nurse went over with me what we would be doing again (even though I did it in the iPAD) and asked if I had any questions. Then we got started.

TRIED IT: I’m Obsessed With The Multiple Ways To Wear Glitter Eyeliner

Continued here:

Source: Danielle James / Courtesy of Danielle James || @TheIslanDiva I love eye makeup. There is nothing like making your eyes pop! As makeup trends have continued to be polarized (either it’s all fantasy of minimal), I’ve been enjoying the unicorn like possibilities. One of my favorite makeup things to do as of late is play with glitter eyeliner. Source: Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner in Glam Rock / Courtesy of Urban Decay I love Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner and have it in both gold ‘Midnight Cowboy’ ($21.00, urbandecay.com) and silver ‘Glam Rock’ ($21.00, urbandecay.com ). It gives your makeup a pop and the sparkles keep everyone enchanted. I always get complimented when I rock it. Source: Danielle James / Courtesy of Danielle James || @TheIslanDiva My favorite way to wear this is in my crease. I’ll apply a line in my crease so you see it clearly when I blink and a hint of sparkle when my eyes are open. I love to wear this when I’m running late but want a little pizzaz. I’ll give myself a dramatic wing and then apply the glitter eyeliner in my crease. Afterward, I apply my mascara and voila – the eyes are done. It’s simple, quick, and looks really good. Source: Danielle James / Courtesy of Danielle James || @TheIslanDiva Another way to wear glitter eyeliner is to trace above your eyeliner with the glitter liner. This gives your liner even more dimension and it’s beautiful. You can go bare like above, or add some color for even more of a pop. Source: Danielle James / Courtesy of Danielle James || @TheIslanDiva The last way I like to wear the glitter eye makeup is when I’m going all out glam. I’ll do a full eye and then add it in the crease and the corners of my eyes. It honestly looks absolutely gorgeous and like you did some complicated style. The liner stays put when it’s on, but washes off fairly easy. I’ve also worn it on my face as additional decoration and set it with setting spray so it doesn’t budge. I rocked this all summer and am doing the same into Fall!  Do you like eyeliner glitter? How do you wear it? Tag me @TheIslanDiva in your Instagram posts so I can see! It’s Over, Boo: Gina Rodriguez Dropped The N-Bomb On IG And The DRAGGING Is Epic

Source: VALERIE MACON / Getty Gina Rodriguez Drops N-Bomb The internet has been fed up with Gina Rodriguez for a while now. First, back in 2017 she asked about Latino inclusion when the…Black Panther…movie was announced. Then in a 2018 press run she tried to interrupt Yara Shahidi when she was asked about being a role model for black women. Then some months later she claimed that Latinas were paid less than anyone else in Hollywood. Not true. Then she went on Sway In The Morning and cried over the backlash : “So to get anti-black is saying that I’m anti-family. My father is dark-skinned, he’s Afro-Latino … If anything, the black community is my community. As Latinos, we have black Latinos. That is what we are. I am not, so I think that when I speak about Latino advocacy people believe I only mean people of my skin color.” “If I have hurt you, I am sorry and I will always be sorry, but you have to know that, until you know my heart, there’s no way that we can live off clickbait, you guys,” Rodriguez continued. “You are allowed to feel pain and I empathize with your pain, and I’m sorry if I caused your pain because it is the last thing I want to do … We don’t need to fight each other and if I caused that notion, please forgive me because that is not my intent at all.” Now, it looks like she may be at the point of no return as she was on IG rapping along with Lauryn Hill and dropped a whole a$$ N-word. She FINALLY said it! I BEEN waiting! We got you on camera, HD!! You are done!!! pic.twitter.com/TjSYGyJhbl — Niggansel Elgort (@bIackgirIs) October 15, 2019 Now she’s trending and getting DRAGGED for it. Those crocodile tears can’t help you anymore, boo boo. Speak On It! Rihanna Says Donald Trump Might Be “The Most Mentally Ill Human Being In America”

Source: Mondadori Portfolio / Getty Rihanna Speaks On Trump’s Racism While Dealing With Mass Shootings Rihanna is killing every magazine cover in sight, and today, the mogul revealed that she’s on the cover of Vogue’s November issue–wearing her very own Fenty designs, nonetheless! In the issue, which hits stands on October 16, Rih talks about everything from fashion to politics, including some choice words she has for y’alls lil president. When asked about her reactions to the recent El Paso and Dayton attacks, she  said “That should never, ever be normal. And the fact that it’s classified as something different because of the color of their skin? It’s a slap in the face. It’s completely racist.” Rihanna continues, “Put an Arab man with that same weapon in that same Walmart and there is no way that Trump would sit there and address it publicly as a mental health problem. The most mentally ill human being in America right now seems to be the president.” Beyond her very on-point analysis of the f***ery being performed by Donald Chump each and every day, Rih also confirms in the interview that she did in fact turn down a Super Bowl halftime show opportunity out of support for Colin Kaepernick. “Absolutely, I couldn’t dare do that. For what? Who gains from that? Not my people. I just couldn’t be a sellout. I couldn’t be an enabler. There’s things within that organization that I do not agree with at all, and I was not about to go and be of service to them in any way.” You can read Rihanna’s Vogue cover story in full over here . Her character, Diamond, hails from The Bronx, is quick-witted and never passes up on an opportunity to tell it like it is (lol). Also, we have to mention how radiant her skin looks on screen! Sporting a chic glow, we couldn’t help but wonder how the rapper was able to achieve the look. According to Refinery29 , all the credit goes to Cardi B’s go-to stylist Erika La Pearl! She tells the publication that she relyed on the Pond’s Nourishing Moisturizing Cream ($7.49, riteaid.com ) to give Cardi a natural, yet radiant glow. “It keeps the body hydrated but not too greasy or oily,” she tells Refinery29. In an effort to give Cardi’s skin an illuminating finish, she followed up with MAC’s Iridescent Powder in Golden Bronze to make her glisten. “I applied a lot of this all over her body with a brush, so when the set lights hit, her skin would be like bam !” She continued, “Cardi was very laid-back and trusted me to create her look for  Hustlers, ” Erika says. “We had only one day to film all of her scenes, so she came in, closed her eyes, and let me get to work.” Erika has never missed a beat when it comes to creating a flawless face for the star, so it’s no surprise that the rapper brought her along for her on-screen debut. Adwoa Aboah Gets Real About Her Acne Struggles

Follow this link:

Source: Samir Hussein / Getty While it’s easy to think that models having access to the best estheticians doesn’t leave any room for skincare issues, Adwoa Aboah proves that it’s not the case. We love when celebs use their platform to foster change and uplift the community and the model is doing just that! As the founder of Gurls Talk , an online community that welcomes women of various ages to openly discuss topics ranging from mental health to body image, the month of September focuses on skin and body. In honor of the program, Adwoa got candid with her fans about her struggles with acne by posting a series of selfies. The selfies reflect a year-long project that documented her ups and downs with acne. From dark spots to blemishes and everything in between Adwoa is holding nothing back. View this post on Instagram In honor of our monthly theme of ‘Skin and Body’, I will be posting from a personal project that I have been creating for the last 2/3 years. Only ever meant for my eyes in order to obsessively scrutinize over my up and down battle with my skin. Some days it was acne, some days it wasn’t too bad, then mass breakouts followed by clear as day skin. It was exhausting never knowing what your skin was going to look like from one day to another, it was even more exhausting caring so much, about what work thought or if people noticed. Constantly apologizing whilst sat in front of a mirror for something that was out of my control, obsessing over my skin to a point that was very unhealthy at the best of times. This month as much as I can I will be posting those photos, not because my skin is the worst you’ve ever seen but because it feels time to let that shit go, time to join force with a community who bare their pimples for the world to see. A post shared by Adwoa Aboah (@adwoaaboah) on Sep 10, 2019 at 2:00am PDT There is no denying that sharing untouched images of ourselves, flaws and all can be an uncomfortable experience, it’s also empowering. Acne is one of the most common skin conditions that affects so many people from various ages. Like Adwoa, we believe that it’s important to show the world that you should be comfortable in your own skin no matter what. And her fans agree! One fan in particular commended her vulnerability saying, “I can’t tell you how refreshing it is to have someone speak out honestly and open heartedly about adult acne and the struggles that go with it, the fan shares. ” I suffered for so many years and even at the ripe age of 40, it still lingers and troubles me. I have the scars to prove it. I feel every pain babes. Thank you for baring all to us and advocating positivity in a real way.” While we can all agree that dealing with the ups and downs of acne can be a trying process, it feel amazing to know that we are not alone. Acne doesn’t define our beauty or who we are as people. And we are so proud of Adwoa for creating the conversation. How have you struggled with acne? Let us know down in the comments below! Fendi For Everybawwwwdy: Nicki Minaj Says Her Collection Is Made To Show Skin!

Source: SplashNews / Splash News Floss Your Buns And Funbags In Fendi Prints On: Nicki Minaj Says Her Collection Is For Everyone Who Wants To Show Skin Nicki Minaj is talking bawwwdy positivity as she prepares to launch Fendi Prints On , her 127-piece collection with the Fendi brand this October. Minaj’s brand offers a men’s, women’s and children’s collection and she said she made it with her own curves in mind. Via Elle: She knew, she says, that “everybody’s going to be like, ‘Where’s the pink, bi**h?’ ” She also wanted to make body-conscious pieces that showcase curves. “I want to make clothes that make girls with my body look sexy,” she says. “We’re in a new time, where you don’t have to feel bad if you’re not the tiniest you’ve ever been. Women, we struggle with that so much, because we’ll go back to old pictures of ourselves, and we’ll be like, ‘I used to be so skinny!,’ and we start making ourselves feel bad. What I want [to tell] girls is not necessarily, ‘Go and gain weight and have a big booty,’ but ‘If you do have curves, be proud of it, flaunt it—love the skin you’re in.’ As clichéd as that sounds, I’ve been really trying to teach myself that. ‘This is who I am; take me or leave me, bye!’ ” The collection, she says, is “for everyone who wants to show skin. We all go to the beach, we all get sexy, we all have sex, we all bust it open!” Well busss it then baby… While you can also expect to buss your piggy bank open for some items, Minaj also says she kept her roots in mind and has affordable pieces as well: “If I’m going to do Fendi,” she says, “I want to feel like I’m back in Southside Jamaica, Queens, New York, wearing Fendi. I don’t only want to be front row rocking my Fendi; I want to be in the hood rocking my Fendi, too.” Thus the collection includes more approachable pieces like T-shirts and sneakers emblazoned with her face. Her fans, she says, “are going to be really surprised when they see that I did think of things for them. I totally know that there are a lot of people who think that they can’t afford Fendi, and those are going to be some of our new customers, because they’re going to go and get the sneaker, or the hat, or the T-shirt. If you love your fashion, then sometimes you save up for certain things that you really love.” Minaj famously worked as a waitress prior to her current galactic fame. “When I was doing my 9-to-5,” she says, “this is something that I would have saved up for.” Will you be rocking Fendi Prints On? Hit the flip to see some of the looks
