Source: Samir Hussein / Getty While it’s easy to think that models having access to the best estheticians doesn’t leave any room for skincare issues, Adwoa Aboah proves that it’s not the case. We love when celebs use their platform to foster change and uplift the community and the model is doing just that! As the founder of Gurls Talk , an online community that welcomes women of various ages to openly discuss topics ranging from mental health to body image, the month of September focuses on skin and body. In honor of the program, Adwoa got candid with her fans about her struggles with acne by posting a series of selfies. The selfies reflect a year-long project that documented her ups and downs with acne. From dark spots to blemishes and everything in between Adwoa is holding nothing back. View this post on Instagram In honor of our monthly theme of ‘Skin and Body’, I will be posting from a personal project that I have been creating for the last 2/3 years. Only ever meant for my eyes in order to obsessively scrutinize over my up and down battle with my skin. Some days it was acne, some days it wasn’t too bad, then mass breakouts followed by clear as day skin. It was exhausting never knowing what your skin was going to look like from one day to another, it was even more exhausting caring so much, about what work thought or if people noticed. Constantly apologizing whilst sat in front of a mirror for something that was out of my control, obsessing over my skin to a point that was very unhealthy at the best of times. This month as much as I can I will be posting those photos, not because my skin is the worst you’ve ever seen but because it feels time to let that shit go, time to join force with a community who bare their pimples for the world to see. A post shared by Adwoa Aboah (@adwoaaboah) on Sep 10, 2019 at 2:00am PDT There is no denying that sharing untouched images of ourselves, flaws and all can be an uncomfortable experience, it’s also empowering. Acne is one of the most common skin conditions that affects so many people from various ages. Like Adwoa, we believe that it’s important to show the world that you should be comfortable in your own skin no matter what. And her fans agree! One fan in particular commended her vulnerability saying, “I can’t tell you how refreshing it is to have someone speak out honestly and open heartedly about adult acne and the struggles that go with it, the fan shares. ” I suffered for so many years and even at the ripe age of 40, it still lingers and troubles me. I have the scars to prove it. I feel every pain babes. Thank you for baring all to us and advocating positivity in a real way.” While we can all agree that dealing with the ups and downs of acne can be a trying process, it feel amazing to know that we are not alone. Acne doesn’t define our beauty or who we are as people. And we are so proud of Adwoa for creating the conversation. How have you struggled with acne? Let us know down in the comments below! Khloé Kardashian Checks Out & Obama Has Interesting Words On Masculinity: This Week’s Winners & Losers

Read this article:

Source: John Lamparski / Getty This was one of those weeks where the loses weren’t one hundred percent loses, and the wins are up for debate. But we’ll leave it up to your interpretation. Check out the W’s below and find out who took L’s on the next page! Winners Barack Obama (sort of) One young scholar put Barack Obama in the deep florescent spotlight when he brought up the topic of masculinity. During a My Brother’s Keeper town hall in Oakland, California, the former pres and NBA star Steph Curry talked to young men of color about their upbringing, philosophy and ways to succeed in America. Towards the end of the discussion, one person asked Barack how they can collectively change the narrative on what it means to be a man in the midst of unhealthy masculinity. Barack’s response was interesting to say the least. Along with talking about being responsible, being kind, being compassionate, etc., Barack also threw in a little criticism for hip hop. It’s well known Barack is an avid listener of rap music , but when it comes to flossing, he had some thoughts: “Let’s face it, a lot of hip-hop and rap music is based around me showing I have more money than you, I can disrespect you and you can’t do nothing about it, I’m gonna talk about you and punk you. Ironically that actually shows the vulnerability that you feel.” He continued: “If you were really confident about your financial situation, you’re probably not gonna be wearing an eight-pound chain around your neck. If you are very confident about your sexuality, you don’t have to have eight women around you twerkin’. You seem stressed that you’ve gotta be acting that way. I’ve got one woman that I’m very happy with.” Now granted, Barrack’s words are seeping with rigid ideas about sexuality and success. I mean if bills are paid… Why can’t I wear my gold chain! And all consenting twerk teams are welcome if we’re keeping it cute and safe, right? However, Barrack does have a point about the realities of juggling heavy chains and multiple sex interests. I mean, eight women are twerking in front of you? Are they getting paid? Do they have substantial health benefits? How long will the twerking go on, and are their adequate lunch breaks? All questions that need answers. And don’t get me started on that eight pound chain. Can someone say neck pains.   Barrack is only watching out for the people. Check out his whole spiel in the clip below starting at the 52:17 mark.

Danielle Maltby Gets Candid About Paul Calafiore Cheating Scandal

Danielle Maltby is trying to move on. Really, she is. But The Bachelor alum was burned so very badly by ex-boyfriend Paulie Calafiore and his wandering penis that sometimes she doesn’t know if she’ll ever kiss again. “I am really struggling today… I don’t want to get out of bed even though I have tons of sh-t to get done before the Holidays,” Maltby wrote on Wednesday as a caption to a black-and-white image of herself. She added, likely through years: “Control the controllable they say. Well, I’ve tried that. I don’t like to show all my vulnerability, because it gets taken advantage of along with my love and kindness. “Most days I feel myself hardening since my relationship ended. I honestly believed I had found my person. He was everything to me. “Now the thought of dating leaves me terrified to let anyone in. It’s not like I have anything to give out anyway. “I’m trying to wrap any love I still have in me around myself.” Back in June, Calafiore (Big Brother, Ex on the Beach) confessed that he had been sticking it to Cara Maria Sorbello (The Challenge) while in a relationship with Maltby. “I am not proud of my actions these past weeks,” he told E! News at the time, ashamedly adding: “I know they speak louder than these words. I have destroyed the one person that has believed in and brought out the best in me. I have many things I need to work on and repair internally. “I want to be better. I know I haven’t earned it, but I ask for patience and privacy while I work on repairing myself.” Danielle works as a neonatal nurse and competed on Nick Viall’s season of The Bachelor in 2017, prior to briefly appearing on Bachelor in Paradise. Her fiance, Nick Haag, actually died from an apparent drug overdose in 2011. Therefore, “I’ve been in this place before,” she continued on Instagram, but “this is different. You’re still here… “I’ve been slowly draining since the lies started and my ex cheated on me. The people that know and love me, see how much this has taken from me, especially physically. “The “revenge bod” I’ve tried to joke about isn’t some new diet trend, it’s because I’ve been physically sick from the anxiety, stress, grief and lies inflicted on me for months.” Yikes. We feel awful for Maltby. Danielle went on to say that Paul – who is still in a relationship with Cara – has continued to contact her and wants to be unblocked because “we are important in each other’s lives,” in his words. “I made a lot of excuses trying to rationalize his behavior and I wasn’t able to come to terms with the fact he was able to hurt me like this,” she says. “I believe I was shown the person he wants to be but something is holding him back from it.” How can he possibly still want Maltby in his life? Danielle has a theory: “Somewhere in his mind, he has made himself believe that it’s ok to continue to tell me he needs me, misses me, still loves me and wants to fix everything. “Actions speak louder than words. “Today, I can’t explain today. I’ve just had enough… “Some days are ok, some are really good and I had a great night last night, but today, my place is a mess and I can’t get out of bed and honestly, I just hurt. I’m working on it though.” We’ve all been there, right? At least in some extent, in some way. Maltby concluded her post with a yellow heart emoji. All we can say in response is to hang in there because this, like all heartbreak, really will pass. Even if it doesn’t feel that way right now. And also: You can do so much better than Calafiore. That guy sucks.

Congratulations: Kim Zolciak And Kroy Finally Confirm They Are Expecting Twins

Double the bundle …double the fun. Kim Zolciak Expecting Twins According to US Magazine Set two extra places at the table, because Kim Zolciak is having twins! The Real Housewives of Atlanta star will be having not one, but two bundles of joy with her fifth pregnancy, a source confirms to Us Weekly (E! was the first to break the news). “Kim is having a lot of anxiety about her pregnancy, she’s completely changed her ways,” the source tells Us. “She’s reached out to some nutritionists and other specialists about staying healthy as of recent.” Earlier this year, the reality star — who is already mother to sons KJ, 2, and Kash, 12 months, with husband Kroy Biermann, as well as daughters Brielle, 16, and Ariana, 12, from a previous relationship — shared a photo of her very pregnant belly in sweats, captioning the snap, “You asked for it … here is my baby bump this morning!” Zolciak confirmed the pregnancy during a June 25 episode of her Bravo spinoff series Don’t Be Tardy after Us Weekly first broke the news earlier that month. “Pregnant, pregnant, pregnant, pregnant, pregnant, pregnant,” she read off the results from several at-home pregnancy tests to her footballer husband, 27. “Kroy, we have not one negative test.” Her pregnancy comes just nine months after the birth of Kash, who was born just 14 months after big brother KJ. “How exciting is that, love muffin?” she exclaimed as she hugged the Atlanta Falcons player. “You did it again, lovey … Are you excited, love muffin? It must be the athlete sperm.” Zolciak, 35, “loves being pregnant,” another source told Us in June. “She really wants a little girl.” Kim will be poppin’out Kroy’s seeds until she is 60. Congratz again.

Random Ridiculousness: Hacker Tells Mark Zuckerberg Facebook’s Security Is Lax By Writing On The Founder’s Private Timeline

Well, this is embarrassing. Man Hacks Mark Zuckerberg’s Facebook Page According to The NY Post Mark Zuckerberg had his Facebook page broken into because the tech company’s own security team ignored a benevolent hacker. Writing in broken English, Palestinian hacker Khalil Shreateh twice contacted Facebook’s security team to tell them about the bug, which allowed him to post on a user’s timeline even if they weren’t accepted friends. In theory, Shreateh should have been blocked from posting through one of Facebook’s highly touted new security features that gives users the ability to filter who can post messages on their timelines. Shreateh found a way around Facebook’s defenses but the company’s security team said that his method was “not a bug” according to the hacker’s blog post, as reported by tech blog Gizmodo. Frustrated by the lack of response, Shreateh showed the power of his find by posting on Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg’s timeline. “Dear Mark Zuckerberg,” Shreateh’s post began, “First sorry for breaking your privacy and post to your wall, I has no other choice to make after all the reports i sent to Facebook team.” Shreateh then went on to explain his two failed attempts to work with Facebook’s white hat security team — who pay hackers a minimum of $500 to find problems with the social network’s site. “i appreciate your time reading this and getting some one from your company team to contact me,” Shreateh wrote to end his message to Zuckerberg. Someone from Facebook did get in contact with Shreateh but the hacker didn’t get the $500 reward the company promises to hackers. Instead, Facebook temporarily shut down Shreateh’s Facebook page “as a precaution” and told the hacker that his previous messages did not contain enough technical information to prove that he had indeed hacked the site. Adding insult to injury, Facebook’s security team told Shreate: “We are unfortunately not able to pay you for this vulnerability because your actions violated our Terms of Service. We do hope, however, that you continue to work with us to find vulnerabilities in the site.” Incensed, Shreateh wrote on his blog, calling “bulls–t” on Facebook’s security team by creating a YouTube video proving his hack worked. View the video here . His page may have been hacked, but his bread wasn’t. If we had his money, we wouldn’t be pressed.

REVIEW: Phoenix, Hoffman Achieve Greatness While Doing Spiritual Battle In Marvelous The Master

The Master , the new film from  Paul Thomas Anderson , is the story of a spiritual duel — the battle for a soul — though only one of the participants perceives it as such. Lancaster Dodd ( Philip Seymour Hoffman ), the mystic of the title, is the leader of a young movement not unlike what evolved into a certain real life one well entrenched in the entertainment industry. It’s 1950, and he finds a stowaway on his ship, a drunk vagabond who claims to be an able-bodied seaman and who asks for work. The man’s name is Freddie Quell ( Joaquin Phoenix ), he fought in the war, and he’s not mentally stable, either because of his experiences in battle or because stability was just never meant for him. Lancaster, who is almost never referred to by his name but instead is called, simply, “master,” is intrigued by Freddie, likes him (to the bewilderment of others in his camp) and desires to work with him — wants to shape him using the force of will and ability to find the vulnerability in people that he’s slowly honing as his cause grows. Freddie is both terribly vulnerable and the ultimate challenge, because he’s a man with no ability to conform at will, one for whom all emotion and impulses run hot and right at the surface. If Freddie could be won over, changed and molded into someone new by Lancaster’s lectures and lessons, his “processing,” then the cause could be something real, and not just new age blatherings about past lives to wealthy socialites. What makes  The Master such a singular experience, as dense as a mille-feuille, is that it is not Lancaster’s story but Freddie’s, and told as such, in layers that are sensorially rich but that do not always lead easily from one to another. Freddie exists in the moment, ruled by his temper, his libido, or urges he would be unable to pin down or articulate.  At one point he wanders away for reasons unclear — restlessness, maybe — and years slip by without his seeming to register them. He loves but has left behind a girl, Doris (Madisen Beaty), though he doesn’t know why, longs to be with her and understands that he’s hurt her but doesn’t return. He has a good job in a department store until with no provocation one day he picks a fight with a client. He is a force of chaos, though it’s not malevolent. We see things as Freddie does, which is often the way a child does: Not fully understood, attention wandering after a while. We have more understanding than him, but it is almost exclusively through his eyes that we perceive the world, and we’re left to assemble the pieces we’re given into a whole that will never be fully coherent. There are only two scenes, by my count, in which Freddie is not present. Both show the ways in which other people, including Lancaster’s steely wife Peggy ( Amy Adams ), attempt to manipulate Lancaster the way he manages others, with rewards and slippery words. Lancaster is a man who is all performance, even, one would guess, when alone, while Freddie can only be himself. The Master  is built around two towering, career-high feats of acting. As Lancaster, Philip Seymour Hoffman is both authoritative and ridiculous, a series of shells with nothing inside. He’s not yet perfected the religion he’s building, and is still in the process of convincing himself of his sway over others, marveling in the way that he can tell people things and they will, frequently, be believed. We see the power in him when he processes Freddie in an early scene, demanding from the younger man that he not blink as he offers up answers about his past and himself, pulling from him capitulation even as Freddie is hopelessly moved by the intensity of his attention. Few things, we understand from what we’ve seen already, before Lancaster ever arrived on the scene, leave a mark on Freddie, but this moment does. This moment, he’ll remember. As Freddie, Joaquin Phoenix is entirely transformed — it’s a magnificent performance of remarkable physicality. “Naughty boy,” Lancaster calls him, reprovingly. “Silly animal.” Freddie is both of these things, a primitive, tending to swing his loose arms like an ape, his shoulders slumped, muttering out of one side of his mouth like he was crumpled into a ball once and never fully straightened out. He’s half-feral in a way that can be frightening, especially in a scene in which he loses control in a prison cell, raging, destroying everything within reach and hurting himself while Lancaster poses, still, in the cell next to him. But that coiled energy, that unrestrained carnality, is also appealing, and women are drawn to him (though they may not stay that way) — lucky for him, because baldly propositioning them is his main approach. With very fine cinematography by Mihai Malaimare Jr. and a textured, spiky score by Jonny Greenwood that chases the film along as much as the dialogue,  The Master is a more opaque sibling to  There Will Be Blood , a story that, like that earlier one, feels like an abstract American creation myth, a celluloid koan to be turned over in the mind. A final encounter between Lancaster and Freddie is sparked by a dream that signals that the former does have a hook in our strange protagonist, if not the ownership he desires, and that sends Freddie over the churning blue seas, images of which punctuate the film, to find his teacher. Lancaster, grown in power and yet more hollow than ever, offers up what may be the key to the film to his wayward ward: “If you figure out a way to live without a master, any master, be sure to let the rest of us know, for you would be the first in the history of the world.” In Freddie, terrible and free, is an image of a life unbounded by rules and unmarked by submission to any structure, whether it be an abstract figure or the one ensconced in his self-created institute, promising a cure for what ails you. Taylor Schilling Talks Working With Zac Efron, Ben Affleck

Star-making turns in ‘The Lucky One’ and ‘Argo’ make actress One to Watch in 2012. By Amy Wilkinson Taylor Schilling and Zac Efron in “The Lucky One” Photo: Warner Bros. Ryan Gosling. Rachel McAdams. Liam Hemsworth. To think, you may have never known their names if it weren’t for one of the weepy romances by Nicholas Sparks, the writer behind “The Notebook,” “The Last Song,” “Dear John” and more. And as we ring in a new year of cinema, we find yet another actress toying with the lever on Sparks’ star-making machine: Massachusetts native Taylor Schilling. Fans of NBC’s short-lived medical drama “Mercy” may recognize the 27-year-old as nurse Veronica Flanagan Callahan, though she’s since hung up her scrubs, making the transition from TV to film in earnest this year with roles in the Sparks adaptation “The Lucky One” and Ben Affleck’s “Argo.” We chatted with the actress about her breakout 2012 and whether making out underwater is as hard as it looks. MTV News : Does this year feel like a particularly big one for you? Taylor Schilling : Last year felt like a big year. This year feels just kind of like riding the wave. I did some fun work last year, so I’m excited to see how it shakes down. MTV : Has transitioning from TV to film been an intentional career move for you, or were those simply the roles that were coming your way? Schilling : When I audition, I take the parts that I get that I like. I feel so grateful that those have been these kind of amazing film roles. And I have to say that there is a big difference [between TV and film]. On a film set, for me, there’s so much more time to process what’s going on than there is on a television set. There’s more wiggle room to try things and fail and try again and get to the heart of what’s going on in the scene, which is really fun for me. It’s what I like to do. MTV : First up for you this year is “The Lucky One,” co-starring Zac Efron. Let’s cut to the obvious question: Is kissing Zac as amazing as one might imagine? Schilling : Oh my gosh. I’m not going to let you down. It’s not a bad way to make a paycheck. MTV : My favorite Nicholas Sparks movie motif is the rain-drenched makeout scene. From the trailer, it appears you and Zac share a steamy smooch under a showerhead, which is a bit of a twist. What I’m wondering, technically speaking, is if there’s any special choreography to ensure you don’t drown with all that water falling on you? Schilling : [Laughs] No, there didn’t seem to be a problem. MTV : Well, you’re clearly a talented, well-trained actress. Do you have a favorite Nicholas Sparks movie? Schilling : I love “The Notebook.” I think that’s my favorite one. It really is a classic now. I don’t know if I could say. I haven’t seen all of them yet, to be honest. I think I need to do some research before I can honestly answer that question. They’re just such nice stories. They’re so romantic. You get lost in them. It’s such a beautiful fantasy. It’s not real life. It’s this precious world where things kind of fall into place. MTV : You also have “Argo” coming out this year. What is Ben Affleck like as a director? Schilling : It was one of the easiest experiences I’ve ever had on a set, and it was one of the happiest sets I’ve ever been on. He’s incredibly smart, and he kind of made me as an actor — I never felt left behind. It’s like he knows what it’s like and he’s there with you every step of the way. It’s pretty incredible, that whole experience. MTV : I have to imagine some of that comes from his background as an actor. Schilling : Absolutely. Absolutely. He just really knew how to articulate what he wanted, and then I felt really safe and free because I think that when a director has been an actor, he really understands the vulnerability of sort of being in front of the camera and has the ability to make the set very safe. He completely understands what that process is like. So that’s rare. MTV : What challenges does your character Christine face in “Argo”? Schilling : Christine is holding down the fort while her husband [played by Affleck] is off kind of doing some big adventurous things. She’s doing the best she can to maintain her home and her relationship, to do right by her child. She’s trying to negotiate what the best plan of action is for her as a woman and to take care of her son and where her relationship fits into that. MTV : So you’ve got both Ben Affleck and Zac Efron as leading men this year. How are you going to top that? Is Brad Pitt next? Schilling : I don’t know. I don’t know where it goes from here. Brad Pitt, bring it. Check out everything we’ve got on “The Lucky One” and “Argo.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com .

Marion Cotillard To Be Pimped Out by a Low Life

Looks like foxy Frenchwoman Marion Cotillard will be going from the high life (she’s playing a rich philanthropist in The Dark Knight Rises ) to Low Life in theaters next year! Marion has joined the cast of Low Life , a depraved drama about sex slavery. Marion is set to play a woman immigrating from Poland to America who is forced to trade sex for medicine for her ill sister. When they arrive in New York, Marion falls in with onscreen low life (and real-life (former?) crazy person) Joaquin Phoenix , who preys upon her vulnerability (ie, becomes her pimp). Sounds like a bummer, but director James Gray has a great track record for nudity in his films (he got Gwyneth Paltrow to bare her gazongas in Two Lovers (2009) and voluptuous vixen Eva Mendes ‘ mams in We Own the Night (2007) ), and with the tawdry subject matter we’re hoping this means Nudity Hall-of-Famer Marion, who hasn’t done a nude scene since 2006, returns to the top of her nudity game…where she belongs. You can check out Marion Cotillard ‘s 13 nude roles, skincluding her full frontal turn in Pretty Things (2001), right here on MrSkin.com!
