Fendi For Everybawwwwdy: Nicki Minaj Says Her Collection Is Made To Show Skin!

Source: SplashNews / Splash News Floss Your Buns And Funbags In Fendi Prints On: Nicki Minaj Says Her Collection Is For Everyone Who Wants To Show Skin Nicki Minaj is talking bawwwdy positivity as she prepares to launch Fendi Prints On , her 127-piece collection with the Fendi brand this October. Minaj’s brand offers a men’s, women’s and children’s collection and she said she made it with her own curves in mind. Via Elle: She knew, she says, that “everybody’s going to be like, ‘Where’s the pink, bi**h?’ ” She also wanted to make body-conscious pieces that showcase curves. “I want to make clothes that make girls with my body look sexy,” she says. “We’re in a new time, where you don’t have to feel bad if you’re not the tiniest you’ve ever been. Women, we struggle with that so much, because we’ll go back to old pictures of ourselves, and we’ll be like, ‘I used to be so skinny!,’ and we start making ourselves feel bad. What I want [to tell] girls is not necessarily, ‘Go and gain weight and have a big booty,’ but ‘If you do have curves, be proud of it, flaunt it—love the skin you’re in.’ As clichéd as that sounds, I’ve been really trying to teach myself that. ‘This is who I am; take me or leave me, bye!’ ” The collection, she says, is “for everyone who wants to show skin. We all go to the beach, we all get sexy, we all have sex, we all bust it open!” Well busss it then baby… While you can also expect to buss your piggy bank open for some items, Minaj also says she kept her roots in mind and has affordable pieces as well: “If I’m going to do Fendi,” she says, “I want to feel like I’m back in Southside Jamaica, Queens, New York, wearing Fendi. I don’t only want to be front row rocking my Fendi; I want to be in the hood rocking my Fendi, too.” Thus the collection includes more approachable pieces like T-shirts and sneakers emblazoned with her face. Her fans, she says, “are going to be really surprised when they see that I did think of things for them. I totally know that there are a lot of people who think that they can’t afford Fendi, and those are going to be some of our new customers, because they’re going to go and get the sneaker, or the hat, or the T-shirt. If you love your fashion, then sometimes you save up for certain things that you really love.” Minaj famously worked as a waitress prior to her current galactic fame. “When I was doing my 9-to-5,” she says, “this is something that I would have saved up for.” Will you be rocking Fendi Prints On? ‘LHHATLS8’ Reunion Pt 2: Karlie Redd Actually Told The Truth

Read more:

Source: Prince Williams / Getty It’s finally a wrap for season 8 of Love an Hip-Hop Atlanta . We pick up from the results of Karlie Redd’s VH1 sanctioned lie detector test. Basically, Karlie was telling the truth the entire time according to the test. There was no deception indicated when asked if she pooped on Pooh’s sheets, and about whether she had a threesome with Pooh and Hiriam, but the results were inconclusive when Karlie was asked if she was ever sexually intimate with Pooh and if she and Hiriam were ever sexually intimate. The inconclusive results are still shady, but for now, it seems like Karlie Redd told the truth. Pooh, looking like the liar that she is, starts yapping about how Karlie got butt shots on her bed, etc.   The thirst is real. They go at it for a hot second until Nina Parker calms them down. Then Mimi adds her two cents about the night in question. Basically, Mimi left Karlie at the house and then all of a sudden, the next day,  #TheBlogs had a story that a threesome happened at the house, which means someone leaked something, but Mimi didn’t see anything. Shekinah even jumps in and says that people do stuff like that in the A. For example, you could just be chilling at someone’s house thinking everything is on the up and up, then all of a sudden they’ll present you with a dildo just to see if you’re down with other extracurricular activities.  Pooh doesn’t like that at all so she just starts going in on Shekina’s looks but in the end Nina Parker regains control of the situation and asks the court of public opinion, aka the audience, to clap for either Karlie or Pooh depending on who they believe. Most people went with Karlie. So that’s that.   We move on to another segment where KK is in the spotlight, but then Pooh ends up using that as thee moment to run up on stage and sneak attack Karlie Redd. A lot of people get caught up in the melee, whether they got squashed as security tried to pull Pooh out of the scuffle, or whether they were involved in laying of the hands. KK sure pulled Pooh’s hair, and Tokyo Vanity may have tried to jump in too. Basically, Pooh is highly disliked and the sentiment only gets worse after she keeps getting into it with various people.    In more positive news, Scrapp apologizes to Moniece for stringing her along and KK drops obvious, but still needed advice: “Freelance sex creates feelings,” and that’s why she is celibate.   She ain’t lying.    Next up are Kirk and Rasheeda. Nina asks Rasheeda what she meant when she said there were infidelities in their relationship on both sides. Basically, she meant that the infidelity on her part was before they were married. Translation: She was still just trying to take some of the heat off of Kirk’s awful dalliances, one of which produced a child. Stand by your man, I guess.  Anyway, Kirk said they’ve been together for 25 years and have decided they can’t live without each other despite mistakes they’ve made and that’s that.    Then we end the episode on Spice’s publicity stunt. Remember when she pretended she was going to get her skin bleached and all her light-skinned friends, aka Mimi and Rasheeda n’em freaked out? But then Spice was all, gotcha! Anyway, she proved her point. She got the conversation going about the colorism that dark-skinned people face, and her song, “Black Hypocrisy,” and the mixtape it was on did well. Even better, Mimi said she finally got where Spice was coming from when she said Mimi had light skin privilege.   And that’s that. Next week, we return for the premiere of Love and Hip-Hop Hollywood Season 6.     RELATED POSTS  ‘LHHATLS8’ Reunion Part 1: Karlie Redd Gets A Vh1-Certified Lie Detector Test ‘LHHATLS8’ Recap: The Results Of Karlie Redd’s Lie Detector Test Are…

Jodi Benson, The Original “Little Mermaid,” Defends Halle Bailey Being Cast As Ariel

Source: Joseph Marzullo/WENN.com / WENN The Original Ariel Responds To Everyone Mad At Disney’s Casting Decision As you’ve probably already heard by now, one of the biggest stories last week was the news that 19-year-old singer and actress Halle Bailey has been cast as Ariel in a live-action remake of  The Little Mermaid . You might know Halle from her group with her sister Chloe x Halle, or maybe you’ve seen her staring on Grown-ish with Yara Shahidi . Whether you’ve been a fan of Halle for a while now or this casting decision was your first time hearing of her, the second you hear her angelic singing voice there’s no doubt that she is absolutely perfect to portray the famous mermaid. Of course, racists with nothing better to do were up in arms over this decision, adopting the hashtag  #NotMyAriel and complaining that Disney cast a black performer in the role. While some people sat on their phones all day and cried about a fictional mermaid not being white, celebrities and friends of Halle all rallied behind the young star to show their support after the decision was announced. Freeform, the network that airs Grown-ish , even published a great response to everyone who thinks because Ariel is a Danish fairy tale, she has to be white. View this post on Instagram An open letter to the Poor, Unfortunate Souls: ______ #TheLittleMermaid #Ariel #MyAriel A post shared by Freeform (@freeform) on Jul 6, 2019 at 6:16pm PDT One of the most notable responses to come from this, though, was from Jodi Benson , the woman who voiced Ariel in Disney’s original animated film back in 1989. The singer just made an appearance at Supercon in Florida , where she was asked about the controversy–and she was ready to defend Halle, Disney, and their decision to cast the star as the newest iteration of Ariel. “I think that the spirit of a character is what really matters,” she replied. “What you bring to the table in a character as far as their heart, and their spirit, is what really counts. And the outside package — cause let’s face it, I’m really, really old — and so when I’m singing “Part of Your World,” if you were to judge me on the way that I look on the outside, it might change the way that you interpret the song. But if you close your eyes, you can still hear the spirit of Ariel. We need to be storytellers. And no matter what we look like on the outside, no matter our race, our nation, the color of our skin, our dialect, whether I’m tall or thin, whether I’m overweight or underweight, or my hair is whatever color, we really need to tell the story.” In other words, #NotMyAriel hashtaggers can stay mad! If the original Ariel is cool with this new casting decision, how can you justify being mad over fake issues of “authenticity”? Halle Bailey is going to absolutely crush her role as Ariel and that’s all that needs to be said. After Years Of Not Wearing Sunscreen As A Black Woman, Here’s Why I Started

Excerpt from:

Source: Pierre-Louis Ferre / Courtesy of Walgreens In February of 2019, Pierre-Louis Ferrer, a Parisian photographer, revealed his latest project, titled RAW. He shot a series of UV portraits using ultraviolet photography. The photos illustrate and show the true undertones of our skin and what the longterm effects of the sun will do on your skin. I had an opportunity to get my photo taken by the photographer through a Walgreens ‘Beneath The Surface’ Beauty & Skincare Event. It was an opportunity for me to see what products Walgreens was offering for summer and why I recently loaded up on sunscreen from my local store. Source: Pierre-Louis Ferre / Courtesy of Walgreens I was actually pretty impressed with my skin. I had the most sun damage on my forehead and inner part of my skin. On-goers marveled at how my skin didn’t have any sun spots. Nevertheless, the dermatologist seemed very concerned about my skin and its condition. She was a white dermatologist and I only mention this because I do believe it’s important to see a specialist who understands and knows your skin tone. Through Dove, I had the opportunity to sit with Dr. Mona Gohara, who chatted with me all things sunscreen and skincare to protect our melanin in the summer. I showed her the illustration and she actually told me my skin was great. I then dropped the big bomb on her. I don’t use sunscreen regularly. I don’t use sunscreen when I’m on vacations because I feel like my skin is deprived from the sun as I’m normally inside and I live in NYC. I’m a sun baby. I grew up in Florida where I regularly felt the rays dance across my skin. Dr. Mona explained that our melanin gives us a natural 13 SPF; however, we still need to do more. “The way Black and brown skin ages is with hyperpigmentation We have melanin, which is our greatest gift. Melanin protects us from the sun. Protecting us from the sun frankly, helps our skin not wrinkle as easy and maintain our elasticity.” She continued, “If you look at an 80-year-old white woman compared to a 80-year-old Black woman, the white woman will have wrinkles and sun spots. Black people will have hyper pigmentation, that’s how we age.” Melanin is our protector, but it’s also the active ingredient that makes us hyper pigment. It wasn’t just me, she sympathized that the average person is not diligent in sunscreen. Dr. Mona shared, “Diligence means a shot glass over your entire body every two hours. That’s how you are supposed to apply sunscreen.” However, it’s not only the sun that we need protecting from. Dr. Mona explained, “Sunscreen isn’t just protecting you from the sun, it’s protecting you from visible light, like light bulbs, and blue light, like your computer and phone.” While we may not be in the sun, how many hours a day do you spend on your phone or your computer? She added, “It’s now about protection from different types of light.” What’s so bad about looking on your phone all the time without protection? Dr. Mona stated, “Visible light can promote malasma and hyper pigmentation, so we are extrapolating other types of light that we’re coming in contact with like the phone and computer can be damaging as well, built we don’t know to what extent.” Source: Dove Beauty Bar / Courtesy of Dove If skin health is a priority, then sunscreen should be a priority. Dr. Mona educated, “90% of the visible signs of aging come from unprotected exposure to ultra violet light.” Black and brown skin also ages with dryness. Dr. Mona excitedly shared, “That’s where the Dove Beauty Bar ($5.49, target.com ) comes in!” She explained, “You should use any chance you get to infuse moisturizer into your skin.” The bar has 1/4 moisturizing cream. I’m in love with the lavender option pictured above and it definitely leaves your skin soft, smooth, and smelling good. Ever since I met with Dr. Mona, I’ve been diligent about my sunscreen and using it daily. The added moisturizing protection from my beauty bar also helps for me to keep my skin supple. What about you beauties? Do you use sunscreen? Will you consider using it more?
