Cardi took the classic half-up-half-down hairstyle to the next level. The star flaunted her tresses in a swooped bang and high ponytail. Her sleek pony featured bejeweled detailing that wrapped around her hair and covered the crown of her head for a gorgeous pop of color. Topping off the look with curly tresses cascading down her back, this look is everything and more. View this post on Instagram Ight imma head out . We can’t wait to see the next look Cardi and her team will put together! Knowing her flair for the dramatics, a floor-length slay may be next on the list! ‘LHHATLS8’ Reunion Pt 2: Karlie Redd Actually Told The Truth

Read more:

Source: Prince Williams / Getty It’s finally a wrap for season 8 of Love an Hip-Hop Atlanta . We pick up from the results of Karlie Redd’s VH1 sanctioned lie detector test. Basically, Karlie was telling the truth the entire time according to the test. There was no deception indicated when asked if she pooped on Pooh’s sheets, and about whether she had a threesome with Pooh and Hiriam, but the results were inconclusive when Karlie was asked if she was ever sexually intimate with Pooh and if she and Hiriam were ever sexually intimate. The inconclusive results are still shady, but for now, it seems like Karlie Redd told the truth. Pooh, looking like the liar that she is, starts yapping about how Karlie got butt shots on her bed, etc.   The thirst is real. They go at it for a hot second until Nina Parker calms them down. Then Mimi adds her two cents about the night in question. Basically, Mimi left Karlie at the house and then all of a sudden, the next day,  #TheBlogs had a story that a threesome happened at the house, which means someone leaked something, but Mimi didn’t see anything. Shekinah even jumps in and says that people do stuff like that in the A. For example, you could just be chilling at someone’s house thinking everything is on the up and up, then all of a sudden they’ll present you with a dildo just to see if you’re down with other extracurricular activities.  Pooh doesn’t like that at all so she just starts going in on Shekina’s looks but in the end Nina Parker regains control of the situation and asks the court of public opinion, aka the audience, to clap for either Karlie or Pooh depending on who they believe. Most people went with Karlie. So that’s that.   We move on to another segment where KK is in the spotlight, but then Pooh ends up using that as thee moment to run up on stage and sneak attack Karlie Redd. A lot of people get caught up in the melee, whether they got squashed as security tried to pull Pooh out of the scuffle, or whether they were involved in laying of the hands. KK sure pulled Pooh’s hair, and Tokyo Vanity may have tried to jump in too. Basically, Pooh is highly disliked and the sentiment only gets worse after she keeps getting into it with various people.    In more positive news, Scrapp apologizes to Moniece for stringing her along and KK drops obvious, but still needed advice: “Freelance sex creates feelings,” and that’s why she is celibate.   She ain’t lying.    Next up are Kirk and Rasheeda. Nina asks Rasheeda what she meant when she said there were infidelities in their relationship on both sides. Basically, she meant that the infidelity on her part was before they were married. Translation: She was still just trying to take some of the heat off of Kirk’s awful dalliances, one of which produced a child. Stand by your man, I guess.  Anyway, Kirk said they’ve been together for 25 years and have decided they can’t live without each other despite mistakes they’ve made and that’s that.    Then we end the episode on Spice’s publicity stunt. Remember when she pretended she was going to get her skin bleached and all her light-skinned friends, aka Mimi and Rasheeda n’em freaked out? But then Spice was all, gotcha! Anyway, she proved her point. She got the conversation going about the colorism that dark-skinned people face, and her song, “Black Hypocrisy,” and the mixtape it was on did well. Even better, Mimi said she finally got where Spice was coming from when she said Mimi had light skin privilege.   And that’s that. Next week, we return for the premiere of Love and Hip-Hop Hollywood Season 6.     RELATED POSTS  ‘LHHATLS8’ Reunion Part 1: Karlie Redd Gets A Vh1-Certified Lie Detector Test ‘LHHATLS8’ Recap: The Results Of Karlie Redd’s Lie Detector Test Are…

The Ugly Problem With Chris Brown’s ‘Nice Hair’ Lyrics

Here is the original post:

Source: Kevin Winter / Getty When I first came across Chris Brown’s lyrics about “nice hair” on his latest too-damn-long album Indigo , I refused to get mad. I was tired of self inflicting pain on myself over the fact I do not have what society has deemed “good hair.” I shamed myself for forgiving him after he pummeled Rihanna’s face and questioned how a comment about hair would be the straw that broke the camel’s back. I forgave Chris in the past because of youthful ignorance. Because, back then, I couldn’t decipher the language of domestic abuse. Then I experienced it and understood that what occurred between Rihanna and Chris wasn’t a mutual fight, it was abuse. But with her forgiveness of the troubled singer, I too forgave him and started listening to his music again. Incident after incident, I forgave Chris Brown. After all, I’ve been a Chris Brown fan since the beginning *cue throwback photo of me and Chris at the Scream Tour after party* But a las, Chris Brown doesn’t disappoint (only if you count the fact that he consistently disappoints), and is at the center of controversy again with his admission, “Only wanna f**k the black b**ches with the nice hair.” But Chris Brown, in typical Chris Brown fashion, doesn’t see the problem…or he does and rather fuel flames by jumping on the defense and dare the women who are offended by his comments to post a photo of themselves, because he assumes we’re all ugly with skid row edges. “Weird ass angry people,” he wrote in response to a comment about his lyrics on Instagram. “Sincerely, from the bottom of my balls…I DON’T GIVE A F**K BOUT YALL NEGATIVE BOOTYFACE A** B*TCHES…IM START GIVING AWAY FREE LACE-FRONTS FOR ALL YOU WIERD (sic) FEMALES WIT THE SKID ROW EDGES AND LOW SELF ESTEEM. ASIDE FROM THAT…HOP OFF THESE NUTTS.” And if that wasn’t insulting enough, he took a step further for the visually impaired, “Half y’all look like BUDWEISER FROGS. SO PLEASE DON’T COME WIT DA BULLS**T. I WILL FIRE DAT A** UP AND ROAST THE HELL OUT OF YOU OVERLY SENSITIVE DUCKHEAD A** WIERDOS.” As I continue to grow as a woman and my understanding of beauty standards reaches profound depths, his latest stunt is shameful. Especially when much of his fan base is Black women without “good hair” who forgave him. This latest stunt exposes the Black men who use and abuse Black women to only abandon them in the long run. Brown has built his career on the backs of Black women’s support. From his mother to Rihanna to the little girl (me) who camped out to get her CD signed. We spent our hard earned dollars on his product to only be told we’re ugly Becke we don’t fit with his Fine China. The “good hair” conversation is old and tired like Chris Brown’s drug-fueled antics, but unfortunately, it’s a reality whether people like to acknowledge it or not. And most of the time, we rather not acknowledge it because for those who don’t fit into the category (myself included) it’s painful. And for that very reason, I decided I was going to cut off my emotions and tap out of the “good hair” convo to spare what sanity I had left after a week of social media buffoonery. Yet, here I am. But where there’s a “good hair” fire, there’s colorism smoke and a plethora of misguided “pick me” women and men who think  4c girls are just in our feelings or that Chris Brown or any other colorist’s comments don’t apply to them. To men, it’s just “preference.” I t is absolutely OK to be attracted to to different people for your specific reasons. However, when the basis of your preference is rooted in beauty standards defined by European features, you are no longer in the land of preference, but tap dancing on the plantation. The closer to White, the closer to right. And given Chris Brown’s dating history (Karrueche and Karrueche 2), he clearly has a type. And that type doesn’t include 4c or dark skin women . Outspoke Love & Hip Hop Atlanta star Tokyo Vanity exposed Brown on Instagram accusing the singer of discriminating against dark skin women. “When we was in the club in Miami and in the club in LA, b*tch in your section your rules was ‘No darkies.’ In response to Tokyo calling him out, he posted her bare face on Instastories, with the caption “Damn U fine Babygirl, let me take you to dinner.” When are these entertainers going to get it? And learn that alienating your core audience is career suicide. Brown was barely dancing in the good graces of women post-Rihanna now another assault on us because Black women are clearly dispensable. And if we continue to perpetuate these beauty standards created by our oppressors, we will not grow as a community to a place where colorism is just a conversation versus an overwhelming feeling of not being good enough for even our own people. Do better Chris Brown. RELATED STORIES: Chris Brown Arrested For Felony Assault Warrant After Florida Concert Chris Brown Slammed With A Restraining Order From Another Woman

‘RHOAS11’ Recap: NeNe Leakes Is Over Tokyo, Gregg And The Crew

Read the original post:

Source: JB Lacroix / Getty The Real Housewives of Atlanta crew is still in Tokyo. NeNe got all pissed with Tanya for thinking she was being negative. Tanya came to tears because she was confused about why NeNe was being hostile toward her. Basically, NeNe is going through her own stuff with Gregg and taking it out on everyone. Over it dot come. Since things don’t seem to be getting any less frustrating at lunch, NeNe decides to leave the group, which is probably for the best. Once lunch is over, they all pile onto their bus to head back to the hotel and that’s when Marlo and Eva get into it. It all starts when Marlo tries it. Basically, Eva explains how they should dress for their night out on the town and tells them not to wear wedge sneakers, which is silly but whatevs. That triggers Marlo and she starts attempting to go in on Eva for wearing flats. But anyone who has ever seen Eva on America’s Next Top Model knows that Eva has plenty of time. So, she starts going in on Marlo. It gets so bad that Marlo has no comebacks left other than, “Respect your elders.” We all saw the fallout from that comment in the preview commercial where Eva replies with, “I got two babies and a husband,” and then Marlo retorts with, “Two babies by two different men.” That doesn’t slow Eva down from roasting though. This entire situation is basic af. But we’re here for it. Let’s not front. Back at the hotel, Eva gets bad news about her grandfather. They’re going to remove his breathing tube so he’s going to pass away shortly after that. Tanya and surprisingly, Marlo, are the first to come to comfort her. Eventually, the other women come to check on her too. They give her space to cry and grieve, but Eva decides to stay in Tokyo and continue her trip. It’s what her grandfather would have wanted. It’s nice to see them not tearing each other to shreds for once, even Marlo’s evil self. Let’s fast forward a bit. NeNe is still acting all aggy because Gregg has been ignoring her, so obviously she’s not really trying to hear it when Tanya pulls her aside, again, to talk about her comment about her relationship. NeNe tells Tanya that she took it wrong. Tanya keeps pushing and repeats that NeNe was speaking negativity. NeNe finally apologizes, in a snippy way, but repeats that she didn’t mean it negatively and Tanya keeps talking in circles again about Nene speaking negatively and we’re all like: Let it go, girl. But they eventually seem to get over it and plan to finish turning up Tokyo-style. However, we know this group so we know peace probably won’t last long. Let’s meet back here next week to discuss. ‘RHOAS11’ Recap: Eva Gets Sad News During Her Tokyo Bachelorette Trip

View original post here:

Source: Sergi Alexander / Getty Issa a girls trip! Tonight’s episode of Real Housewives of Atlanta finds the crew in Tokyo for Eva’s second bachelorette celebration. They brave a 14-hour flight, arrive at their nice hotel and sit down for a meal as soon as they arrive, but Kandi is not feeling what’s on the menu. It’s light salads, tuna tataki, etc. Kandi is complaining and acting like a spoiled American because she wants a burger or something that she feels is more substantial while the other women aren’t having any problems digging in. Tanya takes this trip the most serious so she hooks the group up with Aya, a cultural ambassador. Aya goes over some cultural customs and traditions with them. One of the main customs is that they shouldn’t be late. Anyone who is familiar with Japanese culture knows that lateness is highly offensive, more offensive than in a lot of other countries. Unfortunately, this group of women is always late. But hold that thought. Once Aya leaves, Eva takes center stage to try to open up the floor to get the group to talk and get over whatever issues they have—Because these chats are always productive. Eva starts with Porsha. Eva felt some type of way about Porsha calling her out for being shady and two-faced at Tanya’s house. Porsha gets annoyed and says she doesn’t think it’s that deep. Porsha then says she specifically remembers Eva talking trash about Shamea and Cynthia behind their backs but then being nice in their faces so she took Eva to task about that behavior. Then Porsha got a little stank, telling Eva not to play the victim. Eva said she’s not playing the victim but she felt like Porsha was trying to “stunt on her.” Porsha reiterates that she’s wasn’t coming for her and they move on. Finally, dinner wraps with Porsha telling the entire group that she’s pregnant (because only a couple of women know at this point). That’s actually a sweet moment because Porsha learned how to say, “I’m pregnant,” in Japanese, and even Kandi is happy for her, all beef aside. Eva doesn’t have too much time to think about the pettiness because gets tragic news that her grandfather is on life support. He had a heart attack, so here we are. Kandi is there to comfort her and gives her some positive commentary. Eva isn’t going to go home just yet but she is on standby. She’s waiting for her mother to call her back with more news, which will probably be that her grandfather passed away. The group goes sightseeing the next day. Call time was 11:00 am but that went right out the window for some of the ladies. Eva, Tanya, Porsha, Cynthia and Kandi are the only ones on time. Ayo wants to leave the rest of the group at 11:10 but Eva begs her to stay. She does, but she’s highly annoyed because lateness is a great disrespect and they have a lot of things to do that day The gang’s finally all present by 12. They visit a temple and read fortunes, which actually seem to be on point. Eva’s even says that the patient will be well (this can be taken literally or figuratively), which gives her hope. Eventually, they end up having lunch and the drama kicks up again. Kandi is being picky about food again and the rest of them bogart Tanya with questions about whether she’s married or not. Tanya has been engaged to her man for three years but considers herself spiritually married. But then Tanya calls NeNe out on making a comment at the temple that maybe she’ll marry someone else. Tanya feels it’s bad juju to say something like that in a spiritual temple. NeNe gets unnecessarily defensive and says it’s not that serious and that she doesn’t give a f–k. Tanya looks super hurt and confused because she came at NeNe respectfully and she actually considered NeNe a friend. We end the episode on that note but this definitely isn’t over. Next week, NeNe goes Ghost on the group, Eva and Marlo go at it and Eva’s grandfather takes a turn for the worst. In NeNe’s defense, she might be on edge because of her situation with Gregg. We shall see. RELATED POSTS ‘RHOAS11’ Recap: Eva Plans An Apology Trip To Tokyo ‘RHOAS11’ Recap: Kandi And Porsha Hate Each Other Again

‘RHOAS11’ Recap: Eva Plans An Apology Trip To Tokyo

Continued here:

Source: Steve Granitz / Getty We pick up tonight’s episode of Real Housewives of Atlanta with Porsha and Kandi’s argument. They’re just not going to get along and that’s that. Kandi attempts to leave, but Tanya asks her to stay. Kandi obliges and both women manage to ignore each other for the sake of peace. Kandi return unfollows Porsha on all social media and they’re both over it dot com. Dinner continues, and we move on to Eva bringing up NeNe and Tanya’s little tiff. NeNe was annoyed with Tanya for saying that something was low-end fashion that NeNe didn’t consider low-end fashion and said Tanya was pretentious.  The item that triggered NeNe were some $100 dollar shades from Swagg Boutique. NeNe owns Swagg Boutique. See where this is going? She probably really felt some type of way about Tanya calling her stuff low end. Anyway, Tanya apologizes for the offense and we move on. Then we get to the part where Porsha calls Eva out about being shady but forgetting her shady comments. Porsha even provides examples of how Eva has constantly shaded Cynthia. Eva suddenly gets amnesia about all of that, thus proving Porsha’s point. Then she says there’s not a shady bone in her body.  As if Eva wasn’t shading the life out of people on America’s Next Top Model years before RHOA even existed. Anyway, Porsha then says people should own up to their shade and Kandi is just looking at her like: Because we all know that Kandi feels that Porsha never owns up to her ish…and there’s validity to that given their situation. Anyway, the real reason why we’re at this Tanya/Eva collaboration dinner is so that Eva can apologize for not inviting them to her bachelorette party and tell them she’s taking them to Tokyo as an apology. In other news, Cynthia finally introduces Kandi, Marlo, and Eva to her new man, Mike Hill. They immediately start grilling him, and we all feel like this is a bit immature, but Mike Hill can get with them. He even tells them, “This is Hill, not Will” (you remember the Willi fiasco), which basically means they got the right one. And you already know this group of women brings it with the questions. They ask everything from what he brings to the table, to what he loves most about Cynthia, to what his go-to sex moves are, to his credit score, and even inquire about the last time he had an STD. He answers everything and they’re impressed. He seems honest, very into Cynthia and not shady at all. So far so good. Finally, the episode winds down with Porsha getting her moment to chat with Dennis about all that has been going on. Porsha explains to Dennis that he should have never continued having a conversation with Jami’s friend knowing that she was upset about it. Dennis doesn’t feel like he did anything wrong (aka Porsha may have blown things out of proportion) but Porsha says them hormones got her feeling some type of way and she needs him to own up to his ish. Eventually, Dennis seems to get it and he apologizes. Next week, the Shady Bunch heads East for some drama in Japan. All Of The Music Videos Off Kanye West’s ‘Graduation’ Ranked

Source: Taylor Hill / Getty Kanye West ‘s album rollout for Graduation is something that should be taught in every music history class. The Chicago native dropped his third studio album on September 11, 2007, in an event that is still talked about pretty often for something that happened eleven years ago. Though he wasn’t exactly a small-time rapper at the time, Kanye was the underdog in his highly publicized competition with 50 Cent , who both released their albums on the same day. 50 didn’t retire afterward as advertised, but Mr. West ended up raking in a whopping 960K in first week sales and beating out Curtis ‘ 690K. This solidified Ye’s spot at the top of the hip-hop game and skyrocketed his whole career–every album that followed for Kanye, to this day, has reached #1 on Billboard charts. While it’s nearly impossible to say one thing that Kanye West is known for or best at, his visuals as a whole are a pretty good start. From fashion, to design, to music videos, Ye is always thinking about how things look just as much as he’s considering how they sound. With that being said, the music videos from Graduation are some of Kanye’s most iconic, most viewed, and most talked about. In honor of the project’s eleven year anniversary, let’s take a walk down memory lane and remember how all 6 of the music videos off of Graduation fare today. 6. “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” is arguably one of the best songs on the album–and one of the best tracks in Ye’s entire discography–but the same can’t really be said for the video. While it’s a good example of the always beautiful and deliberate display of colors that the rapper is known for throughout his work, it’s a very simple video as far as Kanye visuals go–not a bad thing, just not as memorable as a lot of his visual concepts are.   5. “Homecoming” The video for “Homecoming” was nominated for Best Hip-Hop Video at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards. A tribute to his hometown Chicago, the all black-and-white Hype Williams -directed visual is a pretty straight forward look at the people, landmarks, and monuments of the windy city. Though the music video does it’s job paying homage to the Chi, a song with such heavy visualization and allusions could have benefitted from a colorful, illustrative video.   4. “Stronger” Another gift from Hype Williams, “Stronger” gives us a visual initially shot over 9 days in Tokyo, Japan. The guerrilla-style visual is futuristic, which fits the theme of Graduation as a whole, but specifically the sounds of Kanye and Daft Punk on the track. The original storyline for the video features West playing a man in a motorcycle gang, who gets into a bar fight with Japanese rivals. West ended up not liking the video, abandoned the storyline, and edited the visual to obtain “the hottest shots possible,” adding more footage in New York City.   3.  “Flashing Lights (feat. Dwele)” In “Flashing Lights,” a  Playboy  model drives out to the desert, strips down, and pops open the trunk of her car to reveal a bound-and-gagged Kanye West before pounding him with a shovel. This video is some incredible foreshadowing for the genius to come from My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy ‘s visuals, and it’s most definitely a bright highlight in Ye’s catalogue of impressive music videos.   2. “Good Life (feat T-Pain)” The music video for “Good Life” is something special. It was directed by Jonas & François with animation by So-Me, and is jam packed with colorful writing, creativity, and fun. This visual is the perfect representation of living the good life and evokes the same feeling the song itself does, watching Kanye and T-Pain happily sing along to their smash hit. 1. “Good Morning” Those who hold Graduation– or any Kanye album for that matter–close to their heart are bound to disagree on which visuals come out on top, but there’s no denying how iconic the music video for “Good Morning” is. Starring the famous Dropout Bear, the video was directed by Japanese contemporary artist  Takashi Murakami , who also designed the album artwork   and the cover art for its singles.
