Sabrina Parr and Lamar Odom: Engaged! After Just 3 Months of Dating!

Welp.  This is one way to make folks believe you’re totally and completely over Khloe Kardashian: Lamar Odom has proposed to girlfriend Sabrina Parr! And she has said yes, you guys! On Monday, Odom announced his unexpected engagement via a romantic Instagram photo of the soon-to-be married couple posing together inside Prime 112 Restaurant in Miami. “Introducing my new fiancée!! Soon to be Mrs. Parr-Odom,” Odom captioned the post adding very simply and sweetly: “She the ONE!!!!! @getuptoparr.” As you can see above, Parr is wearing her engagement ring in the picture, while Odom is wearing a surprisingly sullen expression, considering the occasion. For her part, Parr also shared a video on social media, coming across as rather excited about the entire development. “I SAID YES!!!!!!” she captioned this post on Instagram on Monday, showing off her ring in a video and two photos as they dined at this same restaurant. Parr added the hashtags #mrsparrodom and #lamarandsabrina. The Real Housewives of Atlanta star Nene Leakes commented on the post, writing as a remark: “SO GLAD I COULD BE HERE WIT YOU! LOVE BOTH OF YOU AND PRAYING OVER THIS UNION.” Odom, of course, is a former professional basketball player who battled substance abuse problems throughout nearly his whole career. In celebrity gossip circles, he’s best known for having been married to Khloe Kardashian for four years, prior to a divorce mostly based on his infidelity and those same substance abuse problems. He nearly died from an overdose while partying with hookers in Nevada back in 2015. Odom made his relationship with Parr Instagram official in August, sharing a photo of his lady love sitting in his lap. “It’s just like when you’ve got some coffee that’s too black, which means it’s too strong, what do you do? You integrate it with cream… But if you pour too much cream in it, you won’t even know you ever had coffee,’” he wrote at the time, adding: “‘It used to be hot, it becomes cool. “It used to be strong, it becomes weak. It used to wake you up, now it puts you to sleep.’ – MALCOLM X @getuptoparr #blackroyalty.” That same month, Odom and Parr spoke out about their romance during an interview on Dish Nation. “I wasn’t attracted to the pain and the drama,” the health and life coach explained, continuing as follows: “You have to meet people where they are. “He was never in a position to be someone’s husband, you know? He was sick, he needed to heal, he needed to grieve. He experienced a lot of losses. And he never had time to go through that.” Just a few weeks ago, in the wake of constant questions about Khloe, Odom insisted he really did love Parr . “Outside of my daughter, this is the most serious and committed relationship I’ve ever been in with a woman,” he said toward the end of October. And now he’s proven it. Congrats to the happy couple!

Hampton University Professor Leads Initiative To Bring Health Screenings To Black Barbershops

View post:

T here is power that lies in the cultural influence of barbershops; especially within the Black community. These establishments have become far more than places where folks come to get their haircut; they’ve evolved into safe spaces where everything from political and social issues to health are discussed. A group of students from Hampton University is tapping into the impact of Black barbershops by utilizing them as an avenue to spread awareness about cancer prevention within the African American community, Southside Daily reported. Nursing professor pilots black men’s health screening program in a Hampton barbershop https://t.co/JASIj7V18s — Daily Press (@Daily_Press) October 18, 2019 The HBCU students teamed up with Hampton University nursing professor Jonathan Romero to launch an initiative called the “Barbershop Outreach Project” which was designed to address the disproportionate survival rates amongst men after they are diagnosed with cancer. Romero and the students—who are all pursuing nursing and pre-med degrees—teamed up with the Hampton-based barbershop BK’s Barbershop to provide health screenings for Black men. The project was created to cultivate a stronger relationship between Black men and the health system and to insert the importance of health screenings into barbershop conversations. “We set up right at the side of the building and we just asked ‘would you be interested in talking to us about your health?’” Romero told the news outlet. “Machismo or masculinity stubbornness will kill you in our community and has killed people in our community. People don’t seek out care so others won’t think they’re weak.” He hopes that Hampton University will be the leading force of change when it comes to Black health in the local community. As far as what’s on the horizon for the Barbershop Outreach Project, the organizers are planning to host more health-focused events at other barbershops. Black barbershops have become vessels for social change on many fronts. Through his program Barbershop Books , entrepreneur Alvin Irby is bringing literature to barbershops across the country to inspire young African American boys to read. Jeremy Roloff Undergoes Surgery, Vows to Live Healthier Lifestyle

Jeremy Roloff has shared some surprising news with fans. And also some concerning news. The former Little People, Big World star took to Instagram late this week and informed followers of the following piece of information: He very recently underwent surgery. On Saturday, the 29-year old explained what happened, why it happened — and how he’s making changes to ensure it never happens again. “Yesterday I had my first surgery. Inguinal hernia surgery. “I’ve had a hernia for the past few years, but thought I could live with it in order to avoid surgery, so I ignored it.” Yiikes, huh? We don’t recall Jeremy having ever touched on such an issue before. He continued with his update by providing a lot more information. To wit: “Over the last several months I’ve been having some increasing health concerns, specifically severe lower back pain and chronic shoulder pain.  “I’ve come to realize that I’ve been subconsciously protecting my hernia with poor posture and lack of core strength.” The host of a podcast and the author of a memoir, Jeremy went on to say that he isn’t in peak physical condition. This has a lot to do with how he’s been feeling, too. “I’ve pretty much eliminated all physical exercise too which has increased the problem because of muscle loss which has me walking weird as well,” he wrote online, adding: I’ve been ignoring my health and it all came to a head when just a few days ago I threw out my back after sneezing. Embarrassing, right? Roloff is expecting his second child with wife Audrey in January. So it’s imperative that he gets back on his feet in order to help with his growing family, especially once the newborn arrives. “All said, I’m considering this a turn in my health journey,” Roloff concluded. “I have a goal to be in the best shape of my life by 32. Health is something that needs continual attention or else it unnoticeably fades – like most things in life. Time to put some attention back on personal health!” For those interested, a hernia occurs when an organ pushes through an opening in the muscle or tissue that holds it in place, per the Cleveland Clinic. For men, the inguinal canal is a passageway for the spermatic cord and blood vessels leading to the testicles. The injury can be very painful if left untreated, as Jeremy just found out. We’re glad he’ll soon be back on his feet, though, and ready to help with precious baby number-two. Jeremy and Audrey announced that they are expanding their family in July … and revealed it would be a baby boy in August. ”We’re so excited!” Roloff wrote on Instagram for the gender reveal, which featured footage of the former reality stars finding out it was a boy via blue-colored smoke. “We are surprised and can’t wait to be a family of four,” Audrey captioned her own video. Kristen Bell in Women’s Health of the Day

I don’t know why brands have decided that Kristen Bell is the most relatable celebrity mom out there. But this girl is getting campaign after campaign from brands. Obviously related to the revival or reboot of Veronica Mars, a show we can assume the media buyers and marketing people grew up on, or that the marketing people were swindled into thinking was an important thing, because they are fame whores and crave working with celebs, while spending their time sucking AGENT dick, because they want more access to that exclusive Hollywood, and are capable of buying it with brand money so why not.. Either way, we see a lot of Kristen Bell now. From brand shit, to media shit, like this Women’s Health shit, where she acts like she’s fit and not just a BOTOX face basking in the glory of the past, reliving that Hollywood relevance, all with her lame husband, who is totally unfunny by her side… With every magazine article comes a press release where the magazine tries to highlight the key of the article to get sourced by anyone who posts it. It’s an old school take on original content / exclusive insight, that bores me. But it’s funny to see how they try to spin boring into interesting… This one “Kristen Bell addresses her mental health, ‘the shame that prevents’ people from opening up”….with and “I immediately felt irresponsible, because I do care about depression not being taboo, yet I present this bubbly, outgoing girl who seemingly gets through life with a smile on her face” Shut the fuck up… Then there is: “Reveals the Biggest Lesson She Learned From Dax Shepard’s Alcoholism Recovery” Dude drank for 3 weeks and is an “alcoholic” he’s been sober a decade or more and I’ve heard him talk his drunk stories, that were beyond normal drunk stories and I just thought these LA assholes are so fucking insular…they don’t know real alcoholism or what real drinking does to ruin lives….and now we need to know what Kristen Bell Learned from his non alcoholism…fuck off.. I’m mad now, so I’ll move onto the next. I can’t believe millions of people live such pathetic lives that they follow this shit…….seriously… Oh and she’s not hot…she’s an old bitch…don’t believe the photoshoot – I hate all of this. Doctor Opens First Black Woman-Owned Veterinary Clinic In Cleveland

Excerpt from:

B lack women are making historic moves in the realm of entrepreneurship. According to Atlanta Black Star , Dr. Venaya Jones recently opened the first veterinary clinic in Cleveland to be owned and operated by an African American woman. Meet Dr. Venaya Jones, owner of Cleveland's first black woman-owned veterinary clinic (via @ATLBlackStar ) https://t.co/WbW2Cr7dmY pic.twitter.com/RH9nJbNd6x — Veterinary Practice News (@VetPracticeNews) September 25, 2019 The clinic—which is based in the city’s Fairfax community—was created to provide accessible care for animals from different socioeconomic households. The facility offers a wide spectrum of services including diagnostic exams, dermatology, wellness visits, and hospice care. Dr. Jones—who discovered her passion for helping animals at a young age—says she wants to utilize the Cleveland Veterinary Clinic as an avenue to push animal health care forward and establish the clinic as a go-to veterinary facility in Cleveland. “I feel like it’s a great opportunity here in Cleveland, especially there being no other vet hospitals here,” she said in a statement. “There are tons of people with pets, we’re in the health tech corridor. I mean, this is where quality medicine is discovered and done, and I want to be a part of that.” For the Western University College of Veterinary Medicine graduate, opening up the Cleveland Veterinary Clinic was about more than her passion for animal health care; its about representation. Dr. Jones hopes her journey will inspire Black youth to pursue careers in veterinary medicine. She mentors youth and other women of color who are interested in stepping into the field. “I’m hoping to uplift the community both physically and emotionally, health wise by taking care of their pets, but … also bringing a sense of pride and a sense of accomplishment,” she said. “I want to be able to show other [young minorities] that they can do it, anything that they dream of, because here is a Black woman that’s come into this community and made it happen.” Black entrepreneurs are breaking barriers in the medical field. Earlier this year a group of African American medical professionals joined forces to open up Chicago’s only Black-owned urgent care facility . HAUGHT OR NAUGHT: Are You A Brow Pomade, Brow Powder, Or Brow Pencil Type Of Girl? [POLL]

Continue reading here:

Source: Umehz Charles / EyeEm / Getty When it comes to the topic of shaping our eyebrows, the debate is an ongoing one throughout the beauty community. While some beauty mavens are interested in growing out their brows, some are conditioned to use brow pencils or powders to style their eyebrows during the growth process. Now more than ever, pomades are slowly replacing brow pencils as the popular choice. And it makes sense! Pomades are a great product to create bold brows that we see all over Instagram. Definition is key for many makeup lovers and pomades are a great alternative to execute that look. This formula also comes in handy to give brows a long-lasting hold for all day wear. However, if your a fan of the traditional soft brow look, the right pomade will deliver. Many makeup mavens think that pomades are only for those with sparse brows, but anyone can use this product. To perfect the look, dip an angled short brush into your pomade. Gently tap the brush against the back of your hand to remove excess product. Then, brush on the product starting at the center of your bottom brow for an outline. Follow up with an outline at the top of your brow starting just after your brow begins and connect with the bottom line. Fill in the brow with light strokes and use a spoolie brush to fade the product into the front. A front runner and fan favorite in the Hello Beautiful office is Anastasia Beverly Hills DIPBROW Pomade ($18.00, sephora.com ). It’s long lasting and comes in 11 different shades. On the flip side, brow pencils also come in major clutch! You can create soft, natural looking brows with ease. And if you’re a sucker for a well placed arch, brow pencils will blow your mind. Simply start at the most sparse area of your brows and fill them in with short, feather like strokes. The key to this method is to be light-handed in application and drawing on the strokes in the direction of your hair growth towards the end of your brows. If you’re looking for an affordable brow pencil, try NYX Micro Brow Pencil ($12.00, nyxcosmetics.com ). This is great if you’re just starting with brows, the only downside is that the pencil tends to run out quickly. You also have beauty mavens who can’t resist a good brow powder. Providing a softer effect that other brow products, powders can be worn alone and can be used to set eyebrow pencils for a fuller finish. The application process is also as simple as can be. All you’ll need is an angled brush coasted with the powder formula. Dab on the back of the hand to remove excess product and sweep the brush in the direction of your hair growth with a light hand. Brush through with a spollie and voila! Our Fashion and Beauty Director, Danielle James, swears by Urban Decay Brow Box in Brunette Betty ($12.97, nordstromrack.com ), “It comes with a spoolie and an applicator and even though it’s a powder, it also has a white pomade to help shape or create a stronger brow. I love it!” It’s currently on sale for over 50% off so you might want to scoop this up ASAP. So, the question remains- are brow pomades easier to shape your brows? We would definitely say that pomades are the safest bet! Not only does this product provide all day wear, it provides the picture perfect finish we all know and love. Pencils are great for those who are just starting their makeup journey, but pomades are where it’s at! What say you? Are you a fan of brow pencils or are you attached to eyebrow pomades? Vape Or Die: California Health Department Urges Everyone To Stop E-Cigs Until Investigation Is Over

Source: Chicago Tribune / Getty California Health Officials Advise Against Vaping And E-Cigarettes The vaping industry is under fire by health officials and California is taking a hard stance against the latest smoking craze . According to LATimes , health officials in the state are urging the public to quit vaping until they can determine exactly what effects the vapor has on the lungs and body. “We are seeing something that we have not seen before,” said Dr. Charity Dean, California’s acting public health officer, in a statement. “There are numerous unknown factors at this time, and due to the uncertainty of the exact cause, it is our recommendation that consumers refrain from vaping until the investigation has concluded.” The fear is that the ingredients inside the liquid capsules, both nicotine and THC, that make vapor may be toxic and cause extreme damage to the lungs. “People are getting sick and some are dying as a result of vaping,” Gov. Newsom said in a statement Tuesday. “Californians are encouraged to stop vaping until health officials fully understand what’s causing this public health crisis.” To date there have been 530 reported cases of injuries and 7 deaths related to e-cigs. Not that smoking is ever good regardless of the substance, but maybe the old school way is *better* than the unknown electronic way for right now.

Andrew Glennon: Of COURSE I Didn’t Manipulate Amber Portwood!

For the past decade, we've watched Amber Portwood on MTV. Honestly, she really hasn't changed that much. She said ridiculously awful things to the people in her life then, and we've heard her do the same now — if anything, she's gotten worse. But somehow, someway, there are several Teen Mom fans who feel the need to defend Amber in the wake of her domestic violence arrest. And Andrew Glennon is not having it. 1. The Arrest Before July 5th, a lot of people thought that Amber’s relationship with Andrew was going OK. But then she got arrested for chasing him with a machete, and then people didn’t think that anymore. 2. So Crazy You’ve probably heard this story a billion times right now, but just in case you haven’t here we go — according to Andrew, Amber got upset because road work prevented them from getting to a fireworks display the evening before, and she went on a rampage for hours and hours. 3. Wow She beat him with a shoe — she admitted to that part, and police have photos of the bruises and scratches on his neck — and threatened to kill herself. She even allegedly took a handful of pills, but threw them back up when Andrew threatened to call 911. 4. Amber, No But things got even worse later, when she got so angry that she grabbed a machete she kept by her bed (we later learned that the machete is just one of the many, many weapons she keeps in her bedroom) and chased Andrew, who was holding baby James, into another room. Andrew held the door closed with his foot while he texted 911 to let them know that he felt his life and his son’s life were in danger. 5. Thank Goodness Amber was arrested and ultimately charged with three felonies — two counts of domestic violence and one count of criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon. 6. Yay, Andrew Andrew also filed for custody of James. As of now, he’s got it, with Amber only having supervised visitation occasionally. View Slideshow
