This one will definitely be “high” on some peoples DVR priority list… Here’s a show that will get good buzz. Reality series producers have mined pawn shops and porn for concepts. Now comes weed – as in marijuana. Discovery has picked up a new series for fall called “Weed Wars,” about the business of medicinal pot. The show will follow Oakland’s Harborside Health Center, the nation’s largest medicinal marijuana dispensary. How big is big? How about 80,000 patients. The place is run by Steve DeAngelo, whose goal is to provide the best weed possible. It’s no shock to learn that he also advocates expanding the use of medical marijuana nationwide. Discovery’s announcement says the show will follow the staff, the path of marijuana from seed to weed, City Hall protests and security sweeps. Just imagine the crossover potential for other Discovery shows, like “Dirty Jobs” and “Mythbusters.” It’ll be interesting to see how long this show stays on the air…or in the air. Source
