Make It Clap: Jersey Shore Cast Required To Sign ‘VD Clause’ Exempting Producers From Responsiblity For STD Contractions While Filming

Free clinic funds not included… Jersey Shore Cast Members Required To Sign ‘VD Clause’ Producers of reality television show “Jersey Shore” are having nothing to do with the potential consequences of the extracurricular activities of the cast. Prior to filming, each cast member is reportedly required to sign a smash-at-your-own risk agreement that exempts the producers and the show from being blamed for any unwanted souvenirs that they take home during taping as a result of their slorefest smash sessions. Veteran entertainment journalist Seth Kaufman , who has written a hot first novel about the cynical business of reality television, tells us that cast members of the MTV show, which is reportedly shooting its last season — and other reality series — have to agree to what’s known as a “VD clause” in which they agree not to hold show producers responsible for any sexually transmitted diseases they may catch while shooting the show. “What I’m told is that it’s pretty standard for reality shows,” says Kaufman, who refers to the creepy clause in “The King of Pain,” which was just published by Sukuma Books.
