An “intense” boyfriend has been jailed for four months after posting a naked picture of his ex-girlfriend on Facebook.Joshua Ashby, 20, put the picture up in an “irresponsible, drunken, jealous rage” after the break-up of their five-month relationship, a judge said.In a legal first, the New Zealander was sentenced for a crime committed on the internet under morality and decency laws designed to cover printed media.Ashby pleaded guilty to distributing indecent matter and six others of threatening to kill, wilful damage, theft of a woman's clothes and assault. The Wellington court heard Ashby texted the messages, 'I'm going to kill you' and 'Dead bitch', to the unnamed woman in July.He then posted a photograph of her naked in front of a mirror on her Facebook page and made the picture available to all 500 million Facebook users worldwide and changed the woman’s password to stop her from being able to taking the photo off the website. It took the police and Facebook technicians 12 hours to shut the account down.Judge Andrew Becroft told Ashby he was adapting an old print law for the internet age.“Technology can't be used in this way,” the judge warned. “You would do incalculable damage to someone's reputation.” added by: sbacker
