The fourth installment in the Shrek Franchise was the top movie at the North American box office over the weekend. It took about $71.3million on its first three days on release. However, Shrek Forever After did not perform as well as its two previous films, Shrek 2 and Shrek the Third. Both of which had made more than $100million in their debut weekends. The spokesman for DreamWorks Animation admitted that the fourth movie’s takings were a little lower to what they have anticipated. Its chart-topping debut put an end to Iron Man 2’s two-week reign as box office champion in the US and Canada. The film Shrek Forever After is the first in the series to be shown in 3D featuring the voices of Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy and Cameron Diaz. Top 5 US box office films: 1.
