The death toll in China’s earthquake disaster has risen to almost 400 in a mountainous and indigent area of Qinghai province. There were 8,000 injured including primary schoolchildren, who were buried under detritus. The earthquake with a magnitude of 6.9 hit at 7:49 a.m. During this time people were probably still at home and schools were just starting the day.
