Congratulations to Keke Palmer on becoming the youngest entertainer to appear solo on the cover of ESSENCE Magazine! The 21-year-old who wowed audiences as Chilli in last year’s “Crazy Sexy Cool; The TLC Story” (the highest rated original cable movie in VH1 history and the highest rated of the year on cable ) before becoming the youngest person on television to host her own talk show, “Just Keke,” (which returns in syndication Fall 2015). She also became the first black Cinderella on Broadway as well as being the youngest actress ever to portray the character (the Rogers & Hammerstein’s show that is currently one of top five ticket salers on Broadway!) In addition, she had a memorable six episode arch on the Emmy nominated Showtime series “Masters of Sex.” In other words, she’s kind of on top of the world right now. I’m my own person. You want me to stay with a brand that I’ve outgrown. I’m 21. And it’s not about me proving to you that I’m grown as hell…” Keke on Playing “Cinderella”… “I know that the role of Cinderella is primarily for a Caucasian girl, but it didn’t stop me from going in and it didn’t stop them from seeing me. There is a bit of intimidation. You think about Denzel, Viola Davis, and you think, Only great people can do Broadway. That was the scariest thing about it, but I’m the type who thrives on pressure…” Keke on Cell Phone Hacking: “People think they can just put their hands in everything and it’s like, No, no, no. The fact that so many celebrity pictures were out there and everybody is elating in the fact that they’re a Peeping Tom? You’re all Peeping Toms. Everybody that’s commenting. In real life, if anybody went to somebody’s house and looked at them naked, they would go to jail…” Keke On Relationships… “What you’re ready for, you attract. So I think I have to do some introspection on why I’m attracted to people that can’t give me what I want…Maybe I’m not as ready for a serious thing as I think I am. The guys I end up getting involved with, they’re into the idea of me, but they really can’t handle what I’m about…” What do you think about what Keke had to say?
