Man Gets Repeatedly Stabbed By Homeless Man After Giving Him $1 A Long Island homeless man is in police custody after he reportedly stabbed a man who gave him $1 and then refused to give him more. via CBS New York A homeless man pleaded not guilty Monday to charges he repeatedly stabbed a man in Elmont while attempting to rob him. James Howley, 46, was arrested Sunday on assault, attempted robbery and other charges, Nassau County police said. Just after 3 a.m. Sunday, police said Howley approached a man on Meacham Avenue near Hempstead Turnpike in Elmont and asked for money. The man gave Howley a dollar, police said. But police said Howley saw that the man had more money in his wallet and demanded he be given more. When the man refused, police said Howley pulled out a knife and repeatedly stabbed and slashed him across the face, neck, chest and hands. The man was able to grab a pipe that was lying on the ground and hit Howley with it, police said. The victim was taken to the hospital and treated for his injuries.
