Authentic Talent And Literary Management Says It Helped Revive Terrence Howard’s Career Terrence Howard’s former talent management company claims it saved his job on “Empire,” and the star paid them back by screwing them out of more than $250,000. That’s according to a new breach of contract lawsuit from Authentic Talent and Literary Management, which says the “Empire” star promised to pay the company 10 percent of his earnings from the hit show in exchange for its counseling, management and career guidance. Instead, the suit claims Howard terminated their oral contract and hasn’t paid them a dime in six months. “By way of illustration, plaintiff intervened with the Los Angeles-based executives of Imagine (which managed Empire) by convincing those executives not to terminate Howard from the show,” the company’s complaint, obtained by BOSSIP, says. The company said it played a key role in Howard’s career resurgence, and Howard agreed to pay them a portion of his “Empire” revenue throughout his seven season contract with the show, regardless of whether Howard ended their working relationship or not. The company says it also has emails from Howard that back up their claims. The suit doesn’t give a dollar amount on what Howard allegedly owes, but says he’s already raked in millions and the company is owed to more than $250,000. The company wants the payments from Howard plus interest, along with its lawyer fees paid and a full accounting of Howard hasn’t yet responded to the lawsuit. Continue reading
