Cyndi Lauper has come out with the harshest rebuke yet of Miley Cyrus. Asked by Australian radio station Gold 104.3 for her thoughts on Miley’s VMA performance , the singer at first labeled it as a “sad” example of a “girl gone wild.” But the Tony nominee then zeroed on the tracks to which Cyrus Twerked alongside Robin Thicke and picked apart the lyrics of ” Blurred Lines .” “She’s in a song that literally says that the blurred lines allowed you to – when a woman says no, she means yes – and that’s frightful because that’s date rape,” said Lauper, adding: “I just felt like that was so beneath her and raunchy, really raunchy. It wasn’t even art.” Lauper is one of many who have expressed shock and horror at Miley’s antics, though the artist herself remains undeterred: She bragged soon afterward about how many Tweets per minute her routine brought in.
