Beyonce has teased us with at least 3 trailers for her new video “Run The World (Girls),” but it looks like the wait is over. Pittsburgh radio station 96.1 Kiss revealed the video’s premiere date via Twitter. The tweet read: “Confirmation: Beyonce’s video “Run The World” premieres Wednesday on American Idol” The station sourced her record label. However, it seems VEVO, the site that was originally supposed to debut the video, hasn’t received the same news. When a fan asked VEVO on Twitter: “is there [an] update about when Ms beyonce Knowles will release her new video run the world (girls)?,” VEVO replied “Not that we’ve heard.” (Last week, VEVO said the video would air on Friday the 13th, but then retracted the statement with: “OK, bad news: ‘Run The World (Girls)’ won’t be out on Friday like we thought. No new date yet. Beyonce is perfecting it”.) So confusing. Let’s just hope the May 18 date is final! Not long ago, my sister and I were having a conversation about our hair. Bred by a Nigerian father and a mother with a full head of hair, she and I were blessed–and cursed–with a thick head of hair. That young 4B meets and morphs with 4C tight strands. We were conversing about what products work for our head. We’re both natural, my sis usually flat irons her hair or leaves it in curls, me myself, I keep mine in a fro. And we were trading hair products and advice, and through all the talks of glossers, conditioners, curl creams and broken combs, we laughed at the fact that we, like most black women, have clear drawers full of hair products from all the styles of hair we’ve worn. Things we tried that failed, or things we loved that we no longer have use for. (I sold her a Pink Oil glosser spray for $3, cause who needs a greasy fro?) We don’t think we’ve heard of Beyonce being booked to appear on three festival stages her whole career. All of a sudden, she’s scheduled for three in one year. Already scheduled to headline the Glastonbury Festival in England on July 26, Beyonce has also been added to perform at back to back events in Ireland and Scotland at the beginning of July. She will hit the “T On The Park” Main Stage in Scotland on July 9. The next day, Bey will bring her legs and lacefront to Ireland’s Oxegen Festival. Now, if this were someone else, we might not bat an eyelash at the news. But we find it interesting that she seems to be trying to cultivate a better rapport with her U.K. audiences.
Beyoncé ‘s “Run The World (Girls)” video is currently one of the most highly anticipated videos. Today, a short teaser for the video was released, but it doesn’t actually feature the video’s star. The more we hear this song, the less we like it, and the less we care about the upcoming video. Somebody wake us when Bey Bey releases her next single. Mariah Carey & Nick Cannon’s twins are due in less than a month, so we can only assume that they’ve got everything ready for the arrival. And we’re sure gifts from their celebrity friends have helped, as well. According to PEOPLE , the kids have already been showered with gifts galore. “We have so many baby clothes,” Cannon says. “The babies have a bigger wardrobe than my wife and me put together.” So who is responsible for giving the babies the best gift so far? Cannon says of his favorite item, “Jay-Z and Beyoncé gave us a cool dinette baby tea set. It comes with a table and chairs.” But the father-to-be isn’t just amazed at his friends’ generosity; he’s amazed with Mariah. “I’m in awe of my wife. Beyonce’s song “Girls (Who Run The World)” is finally here in it’s entirety. Largely sampling Major Lazer’s “Pon de Floor,” Bey does what she does best: encourages her fellow femmes with empowerment anthems. This doesn’t sound like the finished, album version (unless she’s citing Lil’ Jon as a featured guest – but you can expect drumline effects, popping and electro elements), but check it out and let us know what you think!
