The Fifty Shades of Grey casting rumor carousel continues unabated tonight, with the newest name tied to the project being one who isn’t on most people’s radar: Luke Bracey. The Australian hunk, 24, is said to be one of the current frontrunners to replace Charlie Hunnam, who abruptly bailed on the project a week ago. “Luke is at the top of the list,” the insider says, noting that he has discussed the role and chemistry testing is planned with co-star Dakota Johnson. Luke Bracey is best known as Trey Palmer on the Aussie soap Home and Away , and as Leighton Meester’s love interest in the 2011 film Monte Carlo . While making that motion picture, he grew close with Selena Gomez . Earlier this year, after she split from Justin Bieber, the two were spotted holding hands. Other actors rumored to be in the running for 50 Shades include Jamie Dornan , Alexander Skarsgard, Christian Cooke, Theo James and Francois Arnaud. Whoever gets the nod has big shoes to fill.
