Man Dies In Car Crash Just Minutes After His Girlfriend Broke Up With Him Would you die for love? A British man died when his car hit a tree just minutes after his ex-girlfriend broke up with him. Via NY Daily Mail : Ben Blakey, 27, had driven 100 miles in a last-ditch bid to get back together with sweetheart Sheona Ryan. But when she told him there was no hope of rebuilding their relationship, he sped off and ploughed into a tree, an inquest heard. Blakey was described as being in an “agitated state” when drove off before hitting a traffic sign, performing a U-turn and accelerating down the road. A CCTV camera captured the moment his Volkswagen Polo inexplicably veered to the right, mounting a grass verge before smashing into the tree about 4:30 a.m. on May 16. The 27-year-old was taken to hospital but later died from head injuries, reported Mirror Online. A coroner said she did not believe Blakey, who was described by his family as “an inspiration,” meant to take his own life. “I am satisfied that he drove off in an emotional state and directed the car towards the tree,” Coroner Dianne Hocking said. “But I am not satisfied beyond reasonable doubt that he intended suicide as he appeared to have changed his mind at the last moment.” The hearing was told his car’s brake lights had come on indicating that he did brake. The car was traveling at 42 mph at the time of impact. His aunt Mary Jeffers said Blakey made a good impression on all who met him and had left a huge hole in people’s lives “that cannot be filled.” So sad!
