A half marathon , and 10K, including a Corporate Team Challenge, are held concurrently with the full marathon. A 5k race is held additionally on the day before the marathon race day. The 26.2 mile course begins at the corner of St. Clair and 9th and participants have eight hours in which to finish the race. The first edition was held in 1976. Cleveland students will show off their conditioning efforts by running races this weekend Cleveland public school students will run in events tied to the Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon this weekend, with hundreds competing in the 1.2-mile run, 10-kilometer race and even the half-marathon. Roughly 15,000 runners will hit the streets of Cleveland in the 33rd annual Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon. The first prize in the Marathon event is $1,000 while a prize of $1,500 is on offer for the 10km run. Among the charities supported by the marathon are The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. At the finish line of the marathon, half marathon, and 10K the 26.2-mile Rock Party is held. This party includes live entertainment, food vendors, and a beer garden.
