Castaic, California: 4.2 and 3.0-magnitude earthquakes hit in 20-minute span, USGS says. The second and more powerful temblor happened at 7:18 p.m, and was initially reported at a magnitude of 4.5, according to the USGS. Its epicenter, in northwest Los Angeles County, was located 13 miles north-northwest of Santa Clarita and 19 miles northeast of Fillmore. The quake had a depth of 5 miles.
