Exclusive: Butch Walker gets bare bones and bloody for new album

Our buddy Butch Walker, who's been on Current TV a few times before, has a new album of his own (he's often better known writing and producing for others). I Liked It Better When You Had No Heart is out on February 23. It's wry, clever and catchy, with an occasional edge to it that's all the more refreshing for how the self-awareness creeps in, laconically, to the songwritery vibe of the album. (I particularly like “Pretty Melody,” in which he claims—rhyming with the title, of course—that he's “just another tattooed tragedy.”) Here's an exclusive clip of Butch talking about and performing “Don't You Think Someone Should Take You Home” acoustic: If that's too sweet for you, be sure to check this album promo in the form of a short film. Panic! at the Disco's Brendon Urie plays himself, and/or a superfan who's paid $25,000 for the chance to spend a weekend at Butch's. Both singers are far better actors than I'd have imagined, particularly when it comes to a deadpan, creepy American Psycho homage. I Liked It Better When You Had No Heart is available for pre-order from One Haven Music. added by: shana
