Because Nick Delpopolo was given the boot from the Games after testing positive for marijuana. And the U.S. judo team member hilariously claims it’s due to the accidental ingestion of a pot brownie. Delpopolo was expelled from the Olympics last week, while his accreditation was stripped and his seventh place finish expunged. But the 23-year old swears he never meant to get high. The dirty test was “caused by my inadvertent consumption of food that I did not realize had been baked with marijuana,” Delpopolo says in a statement, taking responsibility for his actions and adding: “I apologize to U.S. Olympic Committee, to my teammates, and to my fans, and I am embarrassed by this mistake.” He’s probably really hungry right about now as well.
