Image via Getty McKayla Maroney Accuses Dr. Larry Nassar Of Sexually Abusing Her The sweaty, slimy and sexually abusive Harvey Weinstein scandal has set off a wave of women coming forward to share their harrowing experiences on social media via the hashtag #MeToo. “Me Too” began as a creation of Tarana Burke back in 2007 in an effort to support sexual abuse survivors. McKayla Maroney rose to fame in the 2012 London Olympics when she won both gold and silver medals. She also became virally popular when memes of her now-infamous “not impressed” face became everybody’s favorite thing online. Early this morning, McKayla revealed that while she was winning medals and enjoying celebrity, she was suppressing a dark secret. She freed herself of that burden in a letter she posted to Twitter. #MeToo pic.twitter.com/lYXaDTuOsS — mckayla (@McKaylaMaroney) October 18, 2017 For those unaware of Dr. Larry Nassar, he is currently in prison after pleading guilty to possession of child pornography in addition to being accused of sexually abusing over 100 and young girls. He’s set to be sentenced between 22-27 years in prison next month. Billy Bob Thornton is not shy when talking about his sexual conquests, or his desired sexual conquests. Case in point: He once came out and said a “lifelong goal” is to sleep with Jennifer Aniston . This seems relevant because Thornton suddenly finds himself at the center of the very ugly Johnny Depp-Amber Heard divorce trial. Amidst accusations of abuse against Depp by Heard, a new story went viral this week. As first reported by TMZ, photos of Depp with a bloody finger will be used in the trial that is scheduled to begin on Wednesday. Heard alleges that Depp sliced off part of this finger during one of his angry tirades. But that’s not even close to being all. According to Heard, the actor was drunk and high on ecstasy at the time of the incident – which took place in March while the stars were living in Australia for the shooting of the next Pirates of the Caribbean movie. In his wasted rage, Depp took his severed finger top… dipped it in blue paint… and wrote a strange message on the mirror. It appears as if the text reads, “Starring Billy Bob and Easy Amber.” See, Heard had recently filmed a movie with Billy Bob Thornton and Depp was under the impression that the two carried on an affair. It’s unclear if he had any evidence to back up this assertion. Thornton, meanwhile, tells TMZ that the cheating allegation is “ completely false .” Yes, he appeared in the film “London Fields” with Heard… and there’s nothing more to the story. Heck, he never even socialized with the actress outside of a full cast dinner. Billy Bob says he wouldn’t even consider Heard a friend. Their relationship was strictly professional. Thornton has been married to Connie Angland since 2014. He says he’s spoken to his wife about the rumor and assured her it was all in Depp’s head. Last week, a disturbing video of Depp surfaced. It was filmed several months ago by Heard ( though NOT leaked by Heard , she insists) and it gives us an idea of how Depp can get into a seriously agitated state. Click PLAY to see the veteran actor breaking glasses, pouring wine and going off on Heard in a very one-sided argument: Johnny Depp Goes OFF on Amber Heard, Breaks Wine Bottle & Glass in Shocking Video This whole thing is a sad and ugly mess. Heard and Depp met on the set of The Rum Diary in 2011. They got married four years later. But there’s always been tension between the couple, with Depp notoriously jealous and Heard notoriously independent. That can made for a difficult combination. Heard accused Depp of abuse in May. Pictures of the actress with bruises on her face subsequently went viral. On May 27, 2016, Heard walked into a Los Angeles courthouse with a black eye and filed for a temporary restraining order against her estranged husband. She said at the time that Depp had been “verbally and physically abusive” to her throughout the “entirety” of their relationship. Depp has denied these charges through representatives, but has not spoken out directly on the matter. Both sides have a number of witnesses lined up for this week’s divorce trial, which promises to expose a lot more about their private life. We’ll continue to update our Amber Heard and Johnny Depp sections as more news about their marriage, their divorce and their ongoing problems is made public.
Move over, Michael Phelps. Take a seat, Katie Ledecky. Shaunae Miller would like to jump into the Olympic spotlight for a moment. In the concluding seconds of the women's 400-meter sprint final on Monday night, this Bahamas runner did something you almost never see on the Olympic stage: She actually dove across the finish line to assure herself of victory. Miller and London Olympics gold medalist Allyson Felix were side by side, jockeying for position and for history, when Miller took this extraordinary step. For those wondering, it is not against the rules to dive, provided that part of your body crosses the finish line while staying in your lane. For those also wondering: yes, this was an amazing sight to behold. There's a reason why Miller has gone viral. “This is the moment I have been waiting for, I just gave it my all,” she said after the race. Miller won the sprint with a time of 49.44 seconds over Felix, who finished with a time of 49.51 seconds. “I don’t know what happened,” Miller told Australia’s Channel 7. “My legs started to get a little heavy and I was telling myself that I wanted it so bad and I just did whatever it took. Now I’m coming home with a gold medal, so it is such an amazing feeling for me.” We can only imagine. Concluded Miller: “I’m so thankful to God to be able to bring home the gold medal for my country. It is such an amazing feeling.” Watch a competitor truly give it everything she has in the following clip:
Who gon’ stop her huh? Serena Williams Defeats Maria Sharapova To Win 2013 French Open And Grand Slam Via HuffingtonPost Serena Williams won her 16th Grand Slam title and her first French Open championship since 2002 when she beat familiar foil Maria Sharapova 6-4, 6-4 on Saturday. The victory completed the No. 1-ranked Williams’ rebound from a shocking loss to 111th-ranked Virginie Razzano in the first round at Roland Garros a year ago. Since that defeat she’s 74-3, including titles at Wimbledon, the U.S. Open, the London Olympics and the season-ending WTA Championships. Williams whacked 10 aces, including three in the final game, to extend her career-best winning streak to 31 matches. She improved to 14-2 against Sharapova, with victories in their past 13 meetings and four of the wins this year. At 31, Williams became the oldest woman to win a major title since Martina Navratilova at Wimbledon in 1990 at age 33. Her 11-year gap between Roland Garros titles is the longest for any woman. Oscar Pistorius’ Nike ad during the 2012 London Olympics – part of the athletic giant’s “Weapon” series – declared the sprinter a “bullet in the chamber.” Given the stunning events of this morning, when Pistorius was arrested for murder in South Africa, those words have taken on a chilling new meaning. Early Thursday, South African police arrested the double amputee and Olympic inspiration for the shooting death of his model girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp . Initial reports indicated that the death was an accident, but police have refrained from definitive statements on the crime; he is due in court tomorrow. Oscar Pistorius’ Nike ad, obviously now in bad taste given the situation, has been pulled by the company. But it begs the broader question in general: Are weaponry and violence too serious to employ metaphorically – and so casually – in sports marketing? Is athletic competition really akin to war? Watch the ad below and see if you think it’s inappropriate, not just in light of Pistorius alleged slaying of Reeva Steenkamp, but as a general idea: Oscar Pistorius Nike “Weapon” Ad

Dang, Gabby has had it rough… She’s one of the most celebrated athletes to come out of the recently concluded London Olympics, but Gabby Douglas languished and suffered as a young gymnast in her native Virginia Beach, Virginia — where she was taunted by fellow gymnasts, sometimes even with racial slurs. Now 16 and in possession of two gold medals, Douglas (with mom Natalie Hawkins) told Oprah Winfrey on Sunday’s Oprah’s Next Chapter about the less-than-ideal atmosphere at a local gym. “One of my teammates was like, ‘Can you scrape the bar?’ And they were like, ‘Why doesn’t Gabby do it, she’s our slave?’” “I definitely felt isolated, I felt why am I deserving this? Is it because I’m black? Those thoughts would go through my mind,” said the champ, who became the first-ever African-American to win the coveted All-Around trophy. The teasing got so bad that, at age 14, Douglas threatened to quit the sport altogether if they couldn’t move away and find a new coach. “I felt like I was bullied and isolated from the group, and they treated me not how they would treat the other teammates,” Douglas admitted. Indeed, Douglas eventually did move to Des Moines, Iowa, in order to train at Liang Chow’s gym, where fellow Olympic champ Shawn Johnson trained. SMH. This just goes to show the levels of racism in this country. It’s crazy that this young girl who is so talented has already been exposed to such blatant hatred and prejudice. Source
Gabby Douglas’ road to Olympic glory was far from easy. The 16-year-old revealed to Oprah Winfrey on Sunday’s Oprah’s Next Chapter that she was often bullied and tormented – even at a local gym. “One of my teammates was like, ‘Can you scrape the bar?'” Douglas recalled. “And they were like, ‘Why doesn’t Gabby do it, she’s our slave?'” “I definitely felt isolated, I felt why am I deserving this? Is it because I’m black? Those thoughts would go through my mind,” said the champ.
