Source: Scott Olson / Getty Cory Booker’s Presidential Run Could Be Over If He Fails To Get Donations According to ABC News , Cory Booker ‘s presidential campaign could be over soon. Booker’s campaign manager Addisu Demissie says that the candidate needs to raise almost $1.7 million before Sept. 30 to stay in the presidential race. Demissie explains that Booker would not meet the “increase in the DNC’s debate-qualifying thresholds, which would require significant funds to meet” without help from the public. The $1.7 million is the minimum amount Booker needs to collect to keep his campaign going. Per Demissie, the candidate has to raise as much money as possible so that he can put together a competitive campaign plan. Earlier this year raised $4.5 million and spent $5.3 million. This is behind the top tier Democratic candidates. But, he’s not the only presidential hopeful in this position. Sen. Amy Klobuchar and former Rep. Beto O’Rourke both generated fewer funds than Booker.
By the looks of things on social media, Tristan Thompson has spent this summer trying to look like a good dad . Now, he’s using social media to defend the reputation of someone else — someone more deserving. Tristan is finally standing up for Khloe, saying that she’s never been a “side piece” and doesn’t deserve the backlash she receives. There are always, always rumors about Tristan’s activities. He took to Twitter to try to clear the air. “I have spent the last few months training for my upcoming nba season,” Tristan writes. “And making sure that I am in the best shape possible.” “I have not been on vacations at all this summer,” he clarifies. “And,” Tristan emphasizes. “The current rumors spreading are 100% false.” We’re not even sure which specific rumors he may mean — that’s how often Tristan’s alleged activities are the subject of speculation. It was, however, Tristan’s next tweet that really caught people’s attention. “Also,” Tristan announced to his legions of fans and followers. “When I met Khloe I was SINGLE.” “The negative comments that are constantly being directed towards her are unnecessary,” he continued. Tristan affirmed: “She does not deserve all this backlash for my wrong doings.” To borrow a folksy expression: well ain’t that the truth . “Both Khloe and Jordan have been nothing but great mothers to my kids,” Tristan praised. Khloe has also spoken out about reports that say that Tristan was still with a pregnant Jordan Craig when he hooked up with her. “MY TRUTH IS: I met Tristan because HE CHOSE to go on a blind date with me,” Khloe shared. She added that “A mutual friend set us up.” “After going on some dates, Tristan told me that he had an ex that was pregnant,” Khloe revealed. “Obviously,” she admitted. “I was reluctant about us continuing to date or start a relationship.” Khloe shared in her Instagram Stories that Tristan assured her that what he had with Jordan “was over long before we met.” “He had me talk with his most inner circle,” Khloe detailed. “He showed me physical [proof] (correspondence between the two).” “And had me on calls with his lawyers to prove his point,” she added. “His best friends, business associates, and even his mother told me,” Khloe recalled. “Him and his ex were broken up before we met.” Sometimes, people can seem almost too prepared to prove their case. Khloe continued, writing that she “believed and trusted” Tristan at that time. “If for any reason this is NOT in fact the truth,” Khloe expressed. “I am so completely and utterly sorry that TRISTAN and his inner circle would lie on something like this!” “I pray my truth is in-fact that,” she added. “Lord knows I pray but now, I really don’t know what to believe.” “Truthfully, from the deepest parts of my soul I am sorry!” Khloe wailed. “I’m sorry for any pain that has been created either way,” she concluded. “No woman deserves to go through anything like this! We don’t see too much of Josh Duggar these days — and that’s unquestionably a good thing. As you’ll likely recall, Josh molested five young girls — four of whom were his sisters — while he was still in his teens. Josh’s parents helped him avoid prosecution , but the disgraced reality star was tried and convicted in the court of public opinion when news of his crimes was finally made public in 2015. The father of five has not appeared on his family’s TLC reality shows in the years since. But that doesn’t mean Duggar fans have been completely shielded from the sight of him. On several occasions, Josh has attempted a comeback of sorts by appearing in photos posted on social media by various family members. For obvious reasons, no one is more keen to see Josh get back to earning the big bucks as a reality star than his wife Anna, who is currently pregnant with her sixth child. And so the latest Josh photo comes to us from Anna’s Instagram page. She posted the pic below on Wednesday, along with a caption reading: “We enjoyed a visit to the St. Louis Zoo on our way up to Oshkosh, Wisconsin last week!” “It’s always exciting to see the different animals and the kiddos love it!” she added. The photo received a mixed response from Anna’s followers, but one fan was effusive in her praise of the admitted child molester: “I love seeing more pictures with Josh in them! Your family is such a beautiful example of the love of Christ!” she wrote. “I know your journey has been hard but it looks to me like you have come through it with grace!” Anna was quick to reply, writing: “Thank you for your kind words. Redemption is a beautiful thing!” Yes, apparently, at some point, Josh was redeemed. We must have missed that one! In all likelihood, Anna means that Josh has been forgiven in a religious sense. As for how his victims and the public feel about him — well, that’s a more complicated matter. From St. Louis, the family proceeded to Osh Kosh, Wisconsin, where they attended an air show that Anna described as “one of our 2019 summer highlights.” “We topped off the camping experience by grilling lunch & dinners for our family and Joshua’s siblings,” she wrote on Instagram. “My hat is off to John & Abbie who stayed in an actual tent.” The presence of Josh’s siblings left some fans wondering if the trip was documented by a Counting On camera crew. It may be quite some time before we know for sure. But whatever the case, it’s a safe bet that Josh won’t be appearing in the episode. In case you somehow haven’t heard, the Taylor Swift vs. Scooter Braun feud has been going strong for several weeks now. It all started when Braun purchased Big Machine Label Group, a deal that also gave him the master recordings to Taylor’s first seven albums. The beef has left celebs and industry insiders deeply divided, with numerous A-listers and prominent figures in the music biz loudly declaring their support for either side. Yes, Scooter may not be as famous as Taylor, but he’s just as rich, and arguably even more well-connected. Justin Bieber, Demi Lovato, Cara Delevingne and countless others have already been pulled into the fray. And now, a front-running Democratic presidential candidate has essentially been forced to pick a side. The very wealthy often host fundraisers for candidates they support — not only is it the ultimate status symbol (“Come meet the future president at my house!”), it also helps to curry favor with powerful politicians who might soon become even more powerful. Scooter hosted one for Senator Kamala Harris last week, and many of Taylor’s most ardent fans took to social media to express their displeasure with the presidential candidate. And it’s resulted in the worst Kamala Harris/music-related scandal since the California senator claimed she listened to Biggie and Tupac in college, even though the rappers would’ve been in middle school when she graduated.’ “I was SO excited for you as a democratic candidate, but if you so choose to go to an event held by @scooterbraun, a man whose arrogance mirrors our president’s, I can no longer hold onto my excitement and faith for you as a presidential candidate,” one Swiftie tweeted. “If @KamalaHarris thinks this will get her votes she is delusional and @scooterbraun is a thief who uses these women to advance his bank account…” another remarked. A user named @sandiegoleah even started a hashtag for the movement, tweeting: “@KamalaHarris please don’t do a fundraiser with @scooterbraun you will lose a lot of votes to @ewarren I want to support you but cannot if you associate with a bully and misogynist #IStandWithTaylor”. Early reports from Page Six indicated that Taylor herself commented on the situation, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. The question now, of course, is — how will this affect Harris’ chances of securing the Democratic nomination. And the answer is, almost certainly not at all. We know there are those who believe Taylor could have prevented a Trump presidency simply by endorsing Hillary, but that’s obviously not true. If anything, the 2016 Election taught us the same lesson as the Taylor vs. Scooter feud — extremely rich white dudes can pretty much do whatever they want.
Source: The Washington Post / Getty Chicago To Elect First Black Female Mayor This Week Something historical is about to happen in the City of Chicago and for once it has nothing to do with stats about violence and death. Tuesday, the city will elect the very first Black female mayor of the city as both candidates, Lori Lightfoot and Toni Preckwinkle, are Black women. Despite the sistahood invovled in this historical campaign, things did get VERY contentious with questions of racial authenticity, negative campaign ads, and public name-calling according to USAToday . The heated race has lead leaders like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton to call for the two sides to agree to a “unity pledge” press conference on Wednesday morning after the election. “The race was competitive and often divisive,” Jackson said. “The race ends Tuesday. The healing must begin Wednesday morning.” Based on the polls, it looks like Lightfoot has a HUGE lead on Preckwinkle at 53% to 17% and the former recently compared the latter to the most disgusting of creatures… “It’s like cockroaches – there’s a light that’s shined on them,” Lightfoot said at an event where she signed an ethics pledge and took her shot at Preckwinkle and the other candidates. “They scramble.” Lightfoot, who is also part of the LGBTQ community, might have residual vitriol that stems from rhetoric far more incendiary than political name-calling… Lightfoot, who is a lesbian and would be the city’s first openly LGBTQ mayor, questioned whether Preckwinkle “was blowing some kind of dog whistle” to conservative voters after the county board president brought up her sexual orientation at a debate. (Should Lightfoot win, Chicago will become the largest city to be led by an LGBTQ person.) We’re glad to see that there are two Black women who are passionately chasing the highest office in The Windy City. Hopefully, that healing that Rev. Al and Jesse are calling for can be achieved.

Voting matters and when politicians enact laws and policies solely to suppress the voting ability of Black and brown people it has real consequences that you will notice if you’re paying attention. Killer Mike recently spoke about how voter suppression efforts in Georgia had a negative impact on Black neighborhoods, and also in the election to get Stacey Abrams into the Governor’s mansion. Go vote. You’re too old to be aloof.
Source: Chicago Tribune / Getty Chicago Is Set To Elect It’s First Black Female Mayor According to CNN , Lori Lightfoot and Toni Preckwinkle have emerged as the top 2 candidates to move on to a runoff in Chicago’s mayoral race. This simply means the Chi will elect its first black woman mayor in city history. Lightfoot had reportedly won 17.48% of the vote and Preckwinkle had 15.96% with 95% of precincts reporting, according to the Board of Election Commissioners for Chicago. With an April 2nd runoff date, the winner will replace Mayor Rahm Emanuel, who decided against running for re-election this year. Source: Scott Olson / Getty Lightfoot is a former assistant US Attorney and describes herself as “an out and proud black lesbian” and has made reforming the police department a bedrock of her campaign. Preckwinkle is the Cook County Board president and has made education and a $15 minimum wage focal points of her campaign. The winner will become the second woman and the second African American elected Chicago’s mayor, according to the Chicago Public Library. Jane Byrne was elected in 1979, and Harold Washington was elected in 1983.

The 10-year-old has penned his own book series for children dubbed Tag, You’re It! , Black News reported. Meet Connor Benjamin Littlejohn, a young reader turned writer whose book series called “Tag, You're It!” is inspiring people young and old! #blackpreneur #blackauthor #blackexcellence https://t.co/gfHCUeIKom — Black News (@BlackNews) February 20, 2019 Littlejohn—who is based in Washington, D.C. —started his book series as an avenue to channel his passion for reading and writing, the news outlet writes. A writing assignment given to him by his fourth-grade teacher sparked the inspiration for the series. The book series that he created is centered on a group of friends who battle monsters and zombies to save their town. Ever since launching the series last year, his books have been added to classrooms all over the country. Littlejohn says that he wanted to create the books so that children like him see themselves reflected in the literature that they read. “I’m really happy that my books are giving kids like me a chance to see themselves in fun stories,” he said in a statement, according to the news outlet. “I love to read and want to encourage other kids to read great books and maybe even write new books of their own.” Teachers throughout the country have said that his books have resonated with their students. “I purchased this book as a read-aloud for my 4th grade class,” said one of the teachers. “My students laughed out loud while listening and were inspired by the creative voice of this talented young author! The cliffhanger at the end left us all very eager for the second installment of the series!” There are many young Black authors who are making a name for themselves. In January, 7-year-old Georgia-bred author Nicholas Buamah had his book Kayla & Kyle The Walking Dictionaries: Election Day accepted into the Library of Congress. Buamah created the book in an effort to help youngsters build their vocabulary. For years now, rumors of Josh Duggar returning to Counting On have been circulating non-stop on social media. Come to think of it, those rumors began almost immediately after the Josh Duggar sex scandals that threatened to destroy his family’s media empire back in 2015. Once it became clear that the Duggars would not simply slink back into obscurity, as so many had hoped, many assumed the family would eventually figure out a way to reintroduce the known molester to their fan base. And now, we regret to inform you that it looks as though that day has come. As In Touch Weekly points out Josh was recently spotted in wife Anna’s Instagram stories. That may not sound like such a big deal, as Josh frequently makes appearances on his wife’s social media pages. But this time around, Anna’s eagle-eyed followers picked up on something highly unusual about the pics. As you can see, Josh seems to have assumed the master of ceremonies role at what appears to be a gathering of young Duggars. Again, nothing terribly unusual about that, as — for reasons that defy logic — the Duggars still allow Josh around their children. But what’s got the rumor mill working overtime this week is a pic that comes later in Anna’s IG story. This photo was taken at the same gathering, and again, it doesn’t appear that there’s anything out of the ordinary about it. If you look closely, however, you’ll notice that there appears to be a cameraman standing just out of frame on the right side. For obvious reasons, this has led many to the conclusion that the party was filmed for an upcoming episode of Counting On . Given that he was spotted addressing the room with a microphone in his hande on multiple occasions, would it even be possible to edit Josh out of the scene , as the show has done in the past? Timing-wise this might be Josh’s best opportunity to try and weasel his way back on TV. Astonishingly, the recent Josh and Anna comeback tour has been well-received by a disturbingly large segment of the Duggar fanbase. Here’s hoping a much larger group is nauseated by the idea of a known child molester being paid to appear on television, and will boycott the hell out of TLC is such a thing is allowed to happen.
