Race Matters: Gabby Douglas Says She Was Teased And Called “SLAVE” By Gymnasts In Her Virginia Hometown

Dang, Gabby has had it rough… She’s one of the most celebrated athletes to come out of the recently concluded London Olympics, but Gabby Douglas languished and suffered as a young gymnast in her native Virginia Beach, Virginia — where she was taunted by fellow gymnasts, sometimes even with racial slurs. Now 16 and in possession of two gold medals, Douglas (with mom Natalie Hawkins) told Oprah Winfrey on Sunday’s Oprah’s Next Chapter about the less-than-ideal atmosphere at a local gym. “One of my teammates was like, ‘Can you scrape the bar?’ And they were like, ‘Why doesn’t Gabby do it, she’s our slave?’” “I definitely felt isolated, I felt why am I deserving this? Is it because I’m black? Those thoughts would go through my mind,” said the champ, who became the first-ever African-American to win the coveted All-Around trophy. The teasing got so bad that, at age 14, Douglas threatened to quit the sport altogether if they couldn’t move away and find a new coach. “I felt like I was bullied and isolated from the group, and they treated me not how they would treat the other teammates,” Douglas admitted. Indeed, Douglas eventually did move to Des Moines, Iowa, in order to train at Liang Chow’s gym, where fellow Olympic champ Shawn Johnson trained. SMH. This just goes to show the levels of racism in this country. It’s crazy that this young girl who is so talented has already been exposed to such blatant hatred and prejudice. Source

So This Is What That Wanderlust "Topless Scene" Ended Up As [PICS]

A word of warning: if you’re already feeling kind of grumpy, this is really going to piss you off. So the topless scene that Jennifer Aniston had removed from Wanderlust (2011) wasn’t completely left on the cutting room floor. It does appear on a Blu-ray special feature, the ” bizarro cut ” of the film, which producer-writers David Wain and Ken Marino describe as ” alternate lines, jokes, deleted scenes, outtakes… stuff that was too silly, too absurd ” (or too nude, as the case may be) to make it into the final film. But even if you hold your nose and get the Blu-ray, you’re still not going to get to see JenAn’s jugs. As the scene begins, we get full frontal from a pair of hippie extras (above), but when the big moment finally arrives and Jen steps forward to reveal her topless glory, a big black head pops up and covers her boobs as an off-screen voice yells, “Down in front!” By the time the “head” moves out of the way, the boobs are gone. Ha ha, guys. Very funny. See stills of the crime against boob-manity that is Wanderlust (2011) after the jump!

Ridley Scott Teases Prometheus Deleted Scenes, 20-Minute Longer Extended Cut

Whether you loved Prometheus or were left frustrated by it, everyone who’s seen Ridley Scott ‘s sci-fi pic can agree it leaves you with a plethora of unanswered questions . So maybe it’s good news that Scott has revealed the eventual DVD/Blu-ray release will feature deleted scenes and a 20 minute-longer extended cut of the film — even if Scott is perfectly happy stymieing audiences with his theatrical cut. Scott’s chat with Collider sheds light not only on what the Prometheus home video release might contain, but on Scott’s attitude toward bonus materials and post-theatrical cuts and the film nerds who love to pore over every second of supplemental materials. “[The theatrical cut] is fundamentally the director’s cut. But there will be half an hour of stuff on the menu because people are so into films — how they’re made, how they’re set up, and the rejections in it. That’s why it’s fascinating. So this will all go on to the menu.” Riiight . So Fox wants to issue a bonus-packed Prometheus extended cut DVD/Blu-ray package. Who’s Scott to get in the way? He’s a business, man! (Ka-ching!) It sounds like Prometheus ‘s theatrical cut is Scott’s ideal director’s cut, but he promises a half hour of bonus material for fans who want to go deep into detail: “I’m so happy with this engine, the way it is right now. I think it’s fine. I think it works. It can go in a section where, if you really want to tap in, look at the [DVD] menu. To see how things are long, and it’s too long.” And my favorite part of the chat (emphasis mine): ” Dramatically, I’m about putting bums on seats. For me to separate my idea of commerce from art — I’d be a fool. You can’t do that. I wouldn’t be allowed to do the films I do. So I’m very user friendly as far as the studios are concerned. To a certain extent, I’m a businessman. I’m aware that’s what I have to do. It’s my job. To say, ‘Screw the audience.’ You can’t do that. ‘Am I communicating?’ is the question. Am I communicating? Because if I’m not, I need to address it.” Along the lines of those scenes that viewers might agree are “too long,” Scott describes a scene that wound up on the cutting room floor, seemingly for good reason: [ SPOILERS ] [In the deleted scene described by Scott, Noomi Rapace’s Shaw fights with the remaining Engineer in a hand-to-hand fight.] “The problem about it is, while she gives as good as she gets with an axe… he’s so big, for him to be clouted with a conventional weapon somehow diminished him. It’s subtle. It’s drama. I didn’t want to diminish him by having this person who has a weapon to be able to back him off. It minimized him.” [ END SPOILERS ] Hmm, let’s see now. “Am I communicating?” Scott claims he asks himself. Well… that’s debatable. (See Movieline’s discussion of the still-unanswered questions and dumb script moves in Prometheus .) As for future Prometheus alternate/extended versions, I guarantee folks on both side of the Prometheus fence will clamor for a gander. The question is, will we get any real answers? Pauly D Reflects On ‘Jersey Shore’ Finale

‘This season, we kind of appreciated Jersey more,’ he tells MTV News of season five. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Sway Calloway Sway and Pauly D Photo: MTV News In a sea of laughs (courtesy of Vinny trying to hook up with two lesbians) and drama (including the Situation gossiping about Deena’s sister’s bedtime activities with his brother) on the “Jersey Shore” season finale, perhaps the biggest drama of all was caused by a prank pulled by Pauly D and Vinny. After the crew returned from a camping trip, they found that their pals had pulled the ultimate practical joke, putting all their belongings and the house’s furnishings outside. While almost everyone laughed it off, their pal the Situation didn’t find it as amusing, complaining ad nauseam about the joke. “The finale’s crazy because we go all out with the pranks,” Pauly told MTV News about the season ender. “So me and Vinny, we’re like prank-war champions. The whole house [suffers]. They appreciate it, but they get mad.” It capped off a season that was full of fun, drunken nights, as well as some real emotion, especially when Vinny left the house for a minute to deal with his anxiety issues . In the end, Pauly recalled all the laughs he shared with his roomies. “Well, this season, we kind of appreciated Jersey more,” he said. “So we took advantage of it and everything it has to offer. We were in Italy for so long [last season] that we never were away from the country for that amount of time, so you realize how much you miss gym, tan, laundry. There was no tanning beds in Italy. “Something that surprised me? When Vinny left,” he added about his buddy’s short break from the house. “I never thought he would ever leave me. So he left me, but good thing we brought him back.” With season five over, it’s not clear if the show will come back for a sixth season . If it does happen, Pauly D is down to hit Seaside again. “Absolutely! I’m there! I love summers on the Jersey Shore,” he said. “I love it as a show, and I love it with my roommates. I wouldn’t do it without [them]. I gotta do it with them. I want all of them, and I want the Jersey Shore.” Until then, fans can get their DJ Pauly D fix with his spin-off, “The Pauly D Project,” kicking off on March 29, the same day as the premiere of “Punk’d.” And of course, the “Shore” spin-off featuring mom-to-be Snooki and JWoww is currently in production. Don’t miss “Jersey Shore” every Thursday at 10 p.m. ET on MTV. For continuing “Shore” coverage, be sure to check in with MTV’s Remote Control blog.
