According to the USGS, the Puerto Rico earthquake was a magnitude 5.8. There are reports that an earthquake has hit Puerto Rico in the early hours of this morning (Sunday), with a magnitude of 5.7, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The city of Moca was at the epicentre of the quake. The epicenter of the quake was 3 miles from Moca, PR and Aceitunas, PR. So far there are no damage reports due to the earthquake in Puerto Rico this morning. Also, there are no reports of any injuries. Puerto Rico sets very near a fault line and has experienced strong quakes in the past. In 1918 there was a magnitude 7.5 earthquake in Puerto Rico that caused a tsunami killing 110 people. Hopefully the people of Puerto Rico will not experience any more earthquakes in the near future. The South American continent has been rattled by a few earthquakes in 2010 with the major devastating earthquake which struck Chile earlier this year and a Peru earthquake which took place just a few weeks ago.
