World’s Oldest Man Ever: Jiroemon Kimura Sets New Milestone

Jiroemon Kimura is the world’s oldest man … ever. He was born in 1897! The 115-year-old recently became the oldest living human after the death of Dina Manfredini . Now he’s also officially the oldest man who has ever lived. Jiroemon Kimura, World’s Oldest Man Ever The former postal employee has 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren. He lives with his son’s family near Kyoto, Japan. The previous holder of the title of oldest man ever was Christian Mortensen, a Danish-American, who lived 115 years and 252 days before dying in 1998. Yasushi Nakayama, the mayor of Kyotango, where Kimura lives, recognized his status as the world’s current oldest person, calling him “the pride of our town.” Guinness World Records Editor-in-Chief Craig Glenday traveled to Kimura’s hometown to hand deliver a copy of the Guinness World Records 2013. Glenday said it was an honour to meet Kimura, whom he called “an exceptional person” and only the third man in the history of the world to reach 115. Will he be the first ever to hit 116?
